Inspirations for the creation of your chars? Empty Inspirations for the creation of your chars?

Post by Lobo Thu Jan 20, 2011 5:31 am

Note: While there is nothing wrong with making a character based on yourself (ive done it 5 times here) Please give us more detail than that. I think we all put a little bit our Ourselves into a character. But their has to be something else that sparked the concept or idea of at least one of your more Interesting Characters and has NOTHING to do with YOU. Im Not saying that you arent Interesting, but this Ain't no Biography Thread, kids.

Kelly Conway - 1st friction character ^ ^. Im a Really BIG fan of Evangelion, and at the time I wanted a bratty heel character would 'job' to other characters because of her snobbish attitude. Who better to use as a basis for her character than Asuka Langley Soryu? Although her concept isnt the most original, she's extremely fun for me to play as and has earned her own spot as one of my most favorite favorite characters and was even able to break away from her Jobber status and become A Contender. Her later inspiration would be from real life wrestler Triple H, who was a snobbish blue blood during his early days in the WWF, Kelly's more developed characterization seemed to based now on Asuka and HHH. I love HHH, Asuka & Kelly, and although I was more Newbish when I created Kelly and didnt add much to her characterization upon her creation. I look foreward to fixing her personality and History up some more as she takes over Friction. Muahahahaa!

Clyde Gastin - His name was based on a friend of mine. Him being a drunk was just a spur of the moment since I wanted a Fun & Unique concept. Although his attitude and personality seemed to have developed on its own, Clyde has evolved for the better. I would take credit for inspiring Thatoneguy and Tatyina's characters Chelsea Rivers and Duffy McBain who are also Alcoholic Brawlers and were created after Clyde. Sadly tho, Neither one of them even knew of Clyde's existance when each of their character were made. At least that's what they told me -.-

Bonnie Gastin - For every Clyde... Thier is a Bonnie.... Inspired mostly by the attitude of Terry Bogard from King Of Fighters. Bonnie was just a desire to make a very up-beat and charasmatic, Sober, Female-Clyde who was far more eccentric and competitve than her brother, while still retaining that firmilliar Gastin Crazyness. She can Also Breakdance Fight. Just like in Zoolander. I thought that was pretty Thug Nasty >.>

Andrea Ümlaüt - Inspired by my favorite genre \m/ (working on a char for my 2nd favorite genre. Go ahead and guess if you dare!)

La Scorpia & Lobo - Created out of my love for Lucha Libre. I figured this place could use some Luchadores when I joined. (Ariba La Lucha Libre!!)

Dulsa - Just a char based off of Negative Emotions. Her name came from a character I had in one of my RPGVX projects that I always left behind.

Rei Tanaka - I wanted a Nice, Clean, and righteous babyface who ^ ^ If I wanted anyone to make it in Friction's top 10 it would be Rei. But I think it worked out in the end. BTW her name Was ALSO inspiried by Rei from Evangelion.

Inspirations for the creation of your chars? Empty Re: Inspirations for the creation of your chars?

...Sure, what the hell. Lets give it a try.

Kaoru Takahashi: Hoped she could be my main, -kinda- experienced in wrestling but still cute and girly in the inside. Based on the cliche; strong resolution, a reason to fight and passion for wrestling. Brave and polite at the same time, she follows the concept of typical main characters.

Julia Makuro: Loved Valerie and HAD to make her. Based almost completely on Arima Senka. Jealous of her younger sister's incredible development, yet a little perverted when it comes to being alone with Valerie (Senne). And she doesnt look much like a real wrestler. And I love bed wrestling. Enough said.

Tracy Snow: Needed someone to prove Patrick that Lethe wasnt the most badass kawaii in the place. Intended to be a brutal fighter, turned out to be one of my favorite characters thanks to ShadowOfIce. Yayz Seraphim~! :3

Aaaand that's about it. For now at least ^_^;;

Inspirations for the creation of your chars? Empty Re: Inspirations for the creation of your chars?

Post by Tatyina Thu Jan 20, 2011 10:00 am

As you may or may not have known, many of my characters are taken in part from historical, mythological or international figures. I do have some more direct interpretations but many of them are merely "inspired by" sorts of things.

Let's just start from the beginning:

Akashi Tanikaze: Inspired by my love for sumo. The sport is one of my favorites and she's meant to be a sumo in a wrestler's world. Her name is taken from two famous Sumo wrestlers: Kajinosuke Tanikaze who was the first Yokozuna to be appointed in his lifetime and Akashi Shiganosuke a legendary Sumo and was awarded the title of Yokozuna posthumously. He's considered to be the first Yokozuna.

Karisma Zahin: Mostly an original character. Wanted someone from a unique place and didn't think anyone had anyone from India.

Lukretia Von Creuzfeldt: not inspired by anything in particular. An original character who was taken in part from my love of german culture and molded into a villainess.

Chesna Matuschanskavasky: I mostly wanted to do someone with a ridiculous name and a nurse. Original character but know that poles are famous for sometimes having long and often impronouncable last names so I made it work.

Nikolette Tessla: Nik is basically Nikola Tesla if he were a female wrestler and not a great inventor. One of my all time favorite historical figures and wanted to see if I could pull it off.

Valkoinen Simo: She's based off of the Finnish sniper Simo Häyhä. who is sometimes called the history's greatest sniper with over 500 confirmed kills during the Winter War and called "The White Death." Val's only loosely based on him.

Fathia: the spiritual successor of a pirate character I had on a pirate rp. in the other rp she was the first mate aboard the all femal pirate ship the "Iron Maiden" and was the first mate. And also Chinese and not Somolian. Both were just as ruthless though.

Lu Jiao Jocelyn: a VERY loose spiritual successor to a character called Mizuzene Nai who was previously a Gerudo ona zelda rp and before that a shinigami on a bleach rp. I wanted to have a character born on every continent and was basically only missing Austrailia but didn't want a straight aussie. had Jo's pic and decided to make her a chistralian. Her name Lu(normally with an umlaut over it) is taken from Lu Bu from Romance of the Three Kingdoms as is the Jiang part of her name. She is nothing like either character though.

Babel: While not particularly based on anything her last name "Gilles de Rais" is the full name of a famous french vampire, suiting her vamp theme.

Yasha Love/Hilde Von Creuzfeldt: Hilde is the spiritual successor of another character Hilde, who was the younger sister of Sgmund in a Dragon Rider's of Pern rp. She's basically a carbon copy of the original except put int his world and an older sister. Yasha Love was inspired by the outlandishness of Super Sentai shows.

Mia Tally Bryant: No real inspiration just wanted to make a BBW that was a heel wihtout beeing "heelish" an Anti-Domme if you will.

Junko "Diao-chan" Higurashi: Is a collisionof inspirations. Obviously Diao-chan from Romance of the Three Kingdoms as it is her ring name. And Goei from Ikkitousen. They kind of mashed together to create a MILF. Luffy's Kirin Sumomo definitely had a hand in her creation as well

Duffy MacBain: I just wanted to do a Scottish Tough, simple as that. Wanted to try out the accent mostly. Though her name is a loose mix of MacDuff from Macbeth and McBain from the Simpsons (though McBain IS a real scottish surname xp)

Ingrid Ulrich: I have a deep love for vikigns and norse mythology and this was what came frm it. Wanted to do it a little differently so went with the cosplay angle.

Xenia Rath: by this time I was starting to build a harem for Lukretia and most of her @2's are from europe as shee is. Figured I'd try a choclateer.

Tatyina: My first character and spiritual successor to Tatyina who was a half demon in an inuyasha/yu yu hakusho rp. She was known as the "Soldier of Good" and had superempathic powers.

Sininen Karl: loosely based on Karl Otto Fazer a Finnish confectionist that founded the company Fazer that's still in business today. Mostly used the name and made her have an unusual fetish for candy.

Violate R. Plácido: Not based on anyone but does have a little Mad Hatter in her.

Keltainen Arndt: loosely based on Finnish pacifist Arndt Juho Pekurinen who is basically known for being a contientious objector. Eventually he was forced into conscription and exectued when he still refused. This is me realllllly stretching it but I think that's just fine.

Vanderdecken: Modeled and named after the supposed name of the captain of the Flying Dutchman. Liberties were taken but I tried to make it as close as I was able to when merging legend and wrasslan.

Addyson Queensbury: Her name is taken from the Marquis of Queensbury, who is famous for inventing the traditional rules of boxing as we know them and feudin with Oscar Wylde. Addyson's fighting style is also modeled after classic pugilism.

Minerva Virginia Navarre: Name is taken from Virginia Dare, the first immigrant born in America. The name is used in a punnish manner however.

Ofelia Castro: Her name is merely SIMILAR to the Cuban Castros. When I was checking Brazilian names, Castro was on there and I thought it fit well and sounded nice. Her FIRST name however, is a Brazilian interpretation of Ophelia from Hamlet.

Mazzie Lashely: First name taken fromt he band Mazzie Star last name taken from Bobby Lashley, pro wrestler. That's IT. She's a character built entirely around the ridiculous boobs someone photoshopped into that character's picture.

Team Cait Sith: Based around my love for Welsh Mythology and based around that. Cait meaning Cat and Sith meanign Faerie. One's a cat the other's a faerie. Seele's name is the type of faeries that were generally benevolent. Ironic since Seele is generally more heelish. Though she is a trickster.

The Morrigan is taken from the mythical celtic tripple goddess, The Morrigan Goddesses of war that are said to live in avalon and involved in many celtic myths. They are Morrigan, Macha and Babd respectively.

Fidi Escalia. Her name is taken from the names of certain snakes or snake species names. And obviously based on the Llamia fo olde mythology.

Mississippi Mourir: She was inspired by her theme song, Missisippi Noir by J.G. Thirwell and my love for Voodoo. Also the spiritual successor of an old DnD character who was a necromancer called Surlious Mourir. Though he was trying to turn himself into a lich and turn everyone else undead as well, she's not thaaaat bad.

Hope you enjoyed the History lesson <_______-<

Inspirations for the creation of your chars? Empty Re: Inspirations for the creation of your chars?

Post by Bluemouse Thu Jan 20, 2011 8:51 pm

First you start with three of my big interests... people, fighting, and writing. I love people a lot, and often I will try to take little bits and pieces and feeling that I get from the things that make people human and lovable and frankenstein them up into some original character. I'm sort of working on a third character that will embody things that I hate most in people, but even that one will be made to be lovable, at least in theory.

My list is a little shorter and more mundane than Tatyina's. <img src=" title="Razz" />

Taylor (Sparks) Parker: Much of the backdrop of her life is a fictionalization of my own... it's easiest that way. Even when you're writing characters who aren't like you, you still have to use just different parts of your own lens to create the illusion of it being like someone else. All your characters are like you anyway, this one just bypassed that. However, her personality is a combination of my best friend in the whole world who passed away two years ago, and mma fighter Junie Browning who was on season 8 of the show the ultimate fighter. He was an abused kid and grew up with problems, he knew something was wrong with him but couldn't fix it and just needed people who loved him to help him. Broke my heart, that one did. Since Taylor's origins are pretty personal and pretty dear to me, she will always be my favorite character to write, as well as the easiest.

Cassie Elliot: In some ways Cassie is what Taylor wishes she could be. I was/am struggling to find usable pics, so she's in certain ways born from her pics, but I also wanted to make a character with a very technical fighting style, who was caring and sweetly naive. Basically, to make someone who really didn't fit the bill for the AFW, and then cram her into it and see what happens. She's based off of various people I know, two that I do martial arts stuff with. The first is a very intense, competitive person and the other is very soft spoken, a wonderful listener... the kind of guy that you'd feel safe spilling your guts to even if you didn't know him. Both of them, though, are very good grapplers, but aren't cocky or brash or a jerk about it. She's also based in part on the mannerisms of self-conscious unsure teenagers who are still discovering the world as independent young adults.

I guess Junie Browning is kind of a historical figure. See? I know stuff about stuff too.

I said INSPIRATIONS! Not INGREDIENTS! <img src=" title="Razz" />

Plus I figured you would have said, "Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice".

... Had to go there... XP

Inspirations for the creation of your chars? Empty Re: Inspirations for the creation of your chars?

Post by mnpinner Sun Mar 20, 2011 2:24 am

I take a lot of my character's inspirations from songs...I mean some of them are just based on what picture I use, but I like to use songs as my basis.

Sadie Fields: My first character here. I'm really into classic rock, and even moreso The Beatles. So my first character was based on the song "Sexy Sadie"...or at least her name was. Her finishers (which I want to update) are also based on some songs, but I definitely think I can do better than that now that it's been nearly 2.5 years. The last name Fields came from Strawberry Fields, but I've been considering changing this to Edison..which leads me to...:

Maxwell Fields: Mad Max is simply based on "Maxwell's Silver Hammer". He's been the most fun to work with and I've been considering trying to incorporate more elements from the song into his persona...especially the last name Edison..which would be very funny to have since Macon's last name is Einstein. His finishers come from the lyrics in the chorus of the song.

Buxom Bea Belle: Well with Mad Max and Sexy Sadie, I kept with the alliterative names and took inspiration from the picture used for Bea. The pic seems to be an either flustered or innocent busty woman, so I went with it...and we have Buxom Bea!

Luscious Lilly Lemon: My picture search led me to the original one I used for Lilly and pretty much the same thing stemmed from it as did Bea's, but Lilly's seemed to exude confidence. So I decided to go with a more experienced female wrestler. I thought to do something about her based on her hair...and well lemons are yellow, so why not?!

The Elves: Not much to explain about them other than I wanted to make a tag team and an alternative arena character, so the two ideas became one.

Macon Einstein/Dr. Love: All right...so there are two stories behind Macon....The first is how he came into existence. I was talking with Iffy and got into the idea of making a character that exudes my personality a bit. So I decided to put a little bit of me, and a little bit of what I sometimes wish was me. Then came another long period of me not doing very much on here...I was watching TV and the Dr. Pepper commercial with KISS got "Dr. Love" stuck in my head. So I decided that a good character could have that name! However, I felt lazy and decided to just reinvent a character. I didn't want to change Max, so I decided on Macon. Having reinvented him, I ran with it, and the Firm was born!
