A high-budget, live-action mecha movie has never been done before.

The fact that's it was done by someone who honestly loves the genre and is a really really damn good film is just icing on the cake.

And in any case, it's way more original than another Adam Sandler snoozefest. <_<

I enjoyed Despicable Me 2. Not as good as the Original film.

It was a horrible viewing experience though with the little kids behind us that I wanted to strangle. :hm:

That meaning the people who still watch the animated and braindead comedy stuff, Pixar and Dreamworks are the only monsters fighting each other here etc.

Though Alexy's right, this is Toro's dream came true, even if it isn't Evangelion OR Hellboy 3~

That's the US Box Office, Pacific Rim has done well overseas. Being a more international movie and not all "USA #1" and all.

For 'Murican studios, who make 99% of the movies the world sees, this is pretty much true. Most of them still consider the box office "overseas" and extra, and don't count it when analyzing if a movie was a success or a failure.

Which is stupid is you consider that, wikipedia says...

As of July 19, 2013, Pacific Rim has grossed $49,168,221 in North America, and $53,000,000 in other countries, for a worldwide total of $102,168,221

and...

As of July 19, 2013, Grown Ups 2 has grossed $55,688,015 in North America, $1,700,000 and in other countries, for a worldwide total of $57,388,015

Conclusion: only Americans think Adam Sandler is funny.

Uhh...Del Toro isn't really interested in Hellboy 3 right now, and he's never seen Evangelion, so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.
