[quote="Alexandra":1rzrvxqi]There's going to be issues and problems no matter how it's done.

The trick is, to find the system with the LEAST issues to worry about.
Then, for the people reading/participating in the thread, do you think that the system proposed is the one with the least issues?

[quote="TaiKamiya":l64ls3qj]So if the "Showcase" matches and RPs are going to be part of the new decisions, whats to stop like, everybody from claiming their stuff is a showcase RP?

Showcases shouldn't really be one off matches unless the match is of some significance.. The idea is that showcases might be a set of promos, RPs and a match or two that all relate to a short storyline.. (eg. characters have an argument in an RP, they do promos making fun of each other and then have a match to settle their differences). If someone tags multiple different storylines in a desperate attempt to gain attention, its more than likely that we will just ignore most of them..

[quote="TaiKamiya":l64ls3qj]Not to mention, if the decision is also going to be based of quality of RP's/matches, how does that work when players have varying degrees of skill?

What will simply happen is that when PPVs or number contenders have to be selected, mods will be able to look at showcases for possible candidates or PPV slots/pieces. We don't intend to have rigid selection system in place, think of it like how things are now.. Except if you are having a really great set of RPs/matches that link together or are planning one, you can tag it for everyone else in AFW to read first out of all of your other threads... And who knows.. maybe the mods will say "Yeah, it'd be cool to continue that storyline on into the next PPV..."

Oh, ok, so it needs to be storyline based with accompanying threads for it to count as a "showcase" and thus count towards being considered for a title shot or basic match on a PPV.

That makes sense, and could serve to make the PPV events more meaningful and exciting knowing every match is the continuation or resolving of a storyline issue.

I'm not sure why I'm posting on here seeing as ill be ignored anyways but I'm a person that wants to try and get better at rp and reading everyone's rp i think ill be no where as good as them in fact when i read my brain almost fries form all that detail which is good for them since I am aiming for that and hopefully get there. however regarding the prediction matching i agree with Harrier a bit since I have had nothing but winged it matches. which are enjoyable for me cause it pushes me to think of a good response I in fact don't even care about wining at all if I lose I lose right?

take my last match which ended as a draw mind you but when i Rp with someone who gave me a huge wall of text my brain dies on me and I cant think of any good replys infact nothing comes to mind maybe it because I suck at rp but I just feel bad about it sometimes

showcase matchs would make me feel worst tho cause i would see how every ones rp is better then mine and i never gotten a story going either since everyone is busy with their matches and are to busy most. I'm kinda on the verge of just quiting as well but i don't because i really enjoy this site however i don't know much of anything and im almost 21 XD . ill have to ask what about us newer people im okay with anything but if title matches are going to be like that then i might never get one seeing how bad I am at rping

I'm going to give you some constructive advice right now, if that's okay.

Learn to use proper spelling and punctuation, and learn when to cut off a sentence. Learn to proofread what you write before hitting the 'Submit' button. That's seriously something you (And many others as I've mentioned many, many times before) should work on if you're going to stick around.

Although it surely helps for a good impression and performance when grammar and spelling are correct, grammar, spelling and punctation good = good writer is not entirely fitting. Most people can and will understand a word like people even if it reads poeple, the brain is actually quite good with comprehension in general. A thing that really disrupts my personal concentration is if someone does not use the third person in his posts or does a 2 line mechanical post post.

The showcased matches would not be there to make the less good writers feel like leeches that bug better writers into writing with them and drive them off, but to position you in line for a title belt or a storyline for a belt or a PPV.

When setting up the Four Corners match, dragonswill made his first promotion post and although not as detailed as the other posts, it was far from bad after some advise. You will never get people like dragonswill(I use you as an example because you brought it up, it's not you only and personally dude^^) in situations like that if you don't include them. When a person confesses that she can't think of something exciting, how about carrying and including them in a storyline?
I've made 2 promos with Ise. The first one was free for all, most of the top tier girls bit the unintentional hook, showed up ort at least send a PM and a big match was the result. But even after asking 2 times in the thread, not one of the midcard girls showed up. I don't know the reason but would like to know. No motivation? Fear of the big names cause they would own you? You sometimes get owned in wrestling and in discussions in general, not a big deal^^
The second one was more closed and included Alexandra(called out), daemongirl(set), Oathkeeper(set), KillerV(bodyguard), dragonswill(set), Thunderfox(set) and Tatyina by default(so to say). A match was the result too, but everyone except Angel would have been midcard, and nearly everyone I asked if they wanted to join quickly agreed. Not everyone has to be a major player in these promos, I also had a blast including KillerV with Monster Madness as the psycho bodyguard, but he was free to speak or not. A supporting wrestler is in no way a lesser wrestler than a maineventer for these purpose.

To make a long story short:
Most people can't spin a web of intriguing storyline on their own. More open promotions could be necessary to reach as many players as possible with the showcase idea.

The main concern I would have about the 'showcase' is that it relies on people taking the initiative to stand up and say “look at me, my writing’️s awesome”. Whereas writers seem to be mainly a pretty coy bunch, unwilling to blow their own trumpets too much. I assume this is one of the reasons why the Friction Burn news feed didn’️t catch on - people were reluctant or uninterested in sharing their Rps in a communal setting.

Don’️t get me wrong, I would love some kind of showcase, and an easy way of accessing good quality, completed matches. I’️m just worried it would go the way of the news feed.

Maybe tying in these ’️showcase’️ appearances to nomination for belt contendership would help, though. Acting a bit like the news feed, but making PPV appearances and other goodies dependent on a character’️s official ’️media presence’️ over the last year. So there would be some incentive to share (and sensitive writer types can feel that the self-promotion is part of standard character development, rather than worrying that they‘re shamelessly whoring themselves out).

I just wonder if the lure of the PPVs will be enough to overcome the reluctance to self-promote...

Character/Storyline wise, you can't really expect the characters involved in main events, title matches, and PPV's to get to that "coveted" spot without being the kind of people to selfishly stand up and go "Look how freaking awesome I am! I'm better then all of you!" That's how, storyline wise, management would notice such people and give them such spots.

So for the rpers behind the character, at least a little self promotion would be a necessary evil if they want to stand out and be "showcased" and considered for higher level spots.

Kudo's to Harrier, by the way, for actually going out and getting midcarders involved more, via stories/matches/promos. It's nice to see somebody taking time to involve them as well.

Correct capitalization, PERIODS, paragraphs and a quick spell-check will increase even a novice writers post quality manifold. No one's asking for Hemmingway here, but knowing the difference between a paragraph and a sentence is a decent place to start for someone looking to improve.

It's going to be hard to want to bring someone into a larger storyline when they refuse to post anything more than "she growned when she was kicked and stood up angry and punched her opponents face and was mad still."

dragonswill... I am actually enjoying our match quite thoroughly. You're certainly capable of doing more than you think you can. Don't be so afraid to try a little bit.

I think laziness and not knowing of its existence contributed more to the Friction burn not getting used more than shyness or not wanting people in their business...

And, I'd also like to note that both the matches that came out of those promos are still going on. Though I think that everyone just gave up on the EC...

it takes more than just a nice promo and an idea to run a good storyline and often doesn't require more than two or three people. I have personally found that you can stagger threads and fit more people in rather than just trying to cram as many people into as few threads as possible and calling it a storyline.

But, whatever floats people's boats <img src=" title="cookie" />
