So What if You Can See

Mamouru was glad when Taylor finally left. He knew she couldn't back up her tough talk. Outside of the ring, it was all she was good for.

He'll leaned against the wall and then sighed. He didn't know what he was going to do now. In any sense of the word. After a long moment he pulled out his phone.

"Cassie-san. I'd like to talk. Please consider it. I'd like to say my peace and then you won't have to worry about me ever again."

He left the message on her voice mail and then left. It was all he could do.

Cassie sat as close to the door of the cab as she could, leaving plenty of space between herself and Johnny. She didn't want to be near anyone, she didn't want to accidentally brush against the sleeve of his jacket, she didn't want to smell him or see him out of the corner of her eye. She wanted to be alone.

She stared silently out the window for most of the ride home. Her mind was miles away, mulling over everything that went wrong that night alone was almost too much to bear. Everything about the match, Mamouru, Talia, Taylor...

Her phone rang. She didn't take it out of her coat pocket. Under her fall jacket she was still wearing her shiny yellow suit, bare legged with tall white boots. Outside in the real world, she felt ridiculous, like she was wearing a costume from some silly circus act. At least she'd stuffed the white gloves in her pockets.

The phone beeped to tell her the person had left a message, and after a moment she pulled it out to check. She saw who it was, quietly rolled down the window, and threw her phone out without a sound. It broke on the pavement somewhere behind them.
