You do have a point, more or less.

There is a difference then trying to toughen someone up and just being an asshole for the fun of it though.

Question is, how many people honestly try to help the newbs out? And how many just treat them like dirt for being newbs?

I do neither. I don't talk to newbs. Maybe I should.

I always try to help newbs that show promise.

I once tried to help newbs that sucked, but not any more. On top of sucking they are usually ungrateful, lazy and annoying as hell... and the worse of all demanding, as if it was my work to entertain them.

Respect is something you earn.

People that come here demanding matches when they can't write an interesting character profile or a legible post get no respect.

People that come here thinking they know better without even trying it once get no respect.

there's still a line between getting people to grow and improve and being Hardcore Holly.

Don't be Hardcore Holly Kitten. No-one likes Hardcore Holly.

Hi! I am the newbie^^.

I just want to say that:

I can understand people d'ont want to fight newbie...mostly because after some time you know who you love to wrestle! BUT...if nobody fight them...they will just leave. BUT..we are lucky: often newbie fight each other...and some old wrestler love to fight newbie..i meet some of them ^^.
The only thing i think the great "wise Old Man" of this forum should really do is easy : give advice. Help people to improve.

And..Respect each other...
I d'ont understand why the rule of the real world ( have respect for each other, d'ont trow insult ect) is never respected into the virtual world <img src=" title="Sad" />

Lance Storm likes Goldberg but that's kinda beside the point.

However, be that as it may, would it kill the newbies to at least try to learn proper typing and grammar? I mean, mistakes are common, sure, especially here. But still, a newb that says "Hi, I like eating Pie because it is tasty" is easier to respect then one that goes

"Yeah hi ummm nott sure if right area but new and new girl blagoramam ish here to win all teh fights and stuff and how do i do everything and what is charactar secret backstory that i can know and why bacon tatse all white people like lol roflbox"
That's when you take a moment to let them know they should improve their spelling and grammar if they wanted to be a accepted here, instead of just going 'get da fuck out'.

[quote="zxn666":52xzv2ov]I for one think it's good that we are harshly critical of newbies, simply because it will weed out the shitty writers and RPers and maintain a certain level of quality on this site. Fact is, we don't need all these new people, since the user see right now is large enough to be self-maintaining.
At the same time, we need to bring in a stream of new blood to keep the site healthy. Thing thing about shitty writers and roleplayers is that, guess what? They can improve. I'm a walking example of that. I'm not the best on the site by any means, but if you look back at my early stuff, I'm way, WAY better than I was once. We're going to lose people anyway here, they just get bored of get tired of the site politics and drama and end of leaving, or the real world takes up all their time. Without new blood coming in to replace then, the site will eventually just naturally decay itself. Not only that, but how many potential great RPers have came to the site, wanted to join, but then looked at Discussion and see how hard we are on new people, and gotten scared off without making a single post?

[quote="Kitten":52xzv2ov]Respect is something you have to earn...
I don't disagree entirely, but at the same time, there's a minimum of human respect you should give to people. Y'know, the golden rule and all. If you don't respect someone that's new, why should they respect you in return?

[quote="TaiKamiya":52xzv2ov]Question is, how many people honestly try to help the newbs out? And how many just treat them like dirt for being newbs?
I try to welcome new people in every thread I see. I try to send some of them PMs welcoming them to the boards, and I try to help them however they may need it. Just yesterday, someone PMed me out of nowhere, a new person, asking for some help with a few things. I helped them as much as I could, and they were quite thankful for it.

[quote="Lamia":52xzv2ov]I d'ont understand why the rule of the real world ( have respect for each other, d'ont trow insult ect) is never respected into the virtual world <img src=" title="Sad" />
Because the sad truth is, most people in the real world don't respect each other, either.

I have tried to help newbs improve their roleplaying skills and grammar too...

and they have told me I am a bitch ruining their fun

Their fun apparently consist in me writing good posts and they answering with illegible one-liners no-selling.

Never again

You either try to be a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain. New blood, no matter on how we differ in talents, strengths, weaknesses, are the livestock of new inspiration itself.

Be nice to new people! - Page 2 Empty Re: Be nice to new people!

Alright.

It's pretty sad when a thread has to be made telling people to be nice to ANYONE, let alone newbies. Our veterans SHOULD KNOW BETTER. Don't be sarcastic. Don't be an ass. Just because they are newbies doesn't mean they deserve to be treated that way. In fact, they probably deserve it less BECAUSE they are new. Not that anyone deserves to be treated badly. In general it's a good idea to NOT BE A HUGE JERK!

Secondly, we are NOT an elitist site. We welcome members of ALL skill levels. We ENCOURAGE our new members to try and improve their skills because it will allow them to get more people to rp with them, better integrate themselves into the community and make it more enjoyable for them to rp as well.

HOWEVER, some people cannot or will not improve themselves and only so much help can be given. If that's where someone wants to be, and they are enjoying themselves, that is perfectly fine. We want everyone to enjoy the site as much as possible the way THEY want to enjoy it. But newbies must also understand that taking no steps to improve your rp skills will generally lead to fewer rps and probably little to no inclusion in any main story lines, PPV'S or title bouts.

It's a two way street for both newbies and veterans alike.

P.S. I like Goldberg o.o Even if he was in the best worst match of all time!
