Personally, I'm inclined to think a team built on Ghost, dark, psychic and ice pokemon would work well

Dark-have ghost powers, and can also frequently use fire

Ghost, Psychic-I don't recall if they had any obvious weakness

Ghosts fly (defeat ground attack)

Ice defeat grass, and your flame throwing darks counter the ice weaknesses

Charizard,Nidoking,Dragonite,Tauros,and Kabutops. In that order!

Psychic and Dark are both weak to Bug. Ghost and Psychic are both weak to Dark. Ghost as a type has no strength against Ground.

Ice as an attack type is fine, but Ice type Pokemon suck. They're weak to Rock, Fire, Fighting, and Steel, all common types. Defensively, they're the second worst typing in the game.

Defensively. Therefore, you play offensively. You ice the battlefield, psycicly confuse them, then let the shadow balss and flamethrowers rip into them.
