The gnome druid in our party was pretty awesome and my character wasn't gimped at all.

Wizards, Clerics, and Druids were the most powerful classes in 3.5. They were overpowered to the point that if you weren't playing one of those three classes, you were gimping your party.

There's a reason why everyone refers to 3.5 as caster edition. :V

What do you mean, 'no'? It's the biggest complaint about 3.5 and one of the main things they sought to fix with 4e (A bit overly so, IMO. Fighters are far and away the best PHB1 class).

Epic tier just makes it even worse.
