Bitch bitch bitch part 2

Iâ€m going to comment on this because I was directly involved and I want this down for the record. I donâ€t want people looking at this and saying it was my fault or that I was one of the people talking behind the backs of others.

On the night of the 13th (EST), I was informed that I and Lunar had to pick who would win for the tension tournament. This created an awkward situation, and I timidly offered the win to Lunar. I didnâ€t feel comfortable demanding John win. I offered the win to Lunar.

A short time later, I commented to people in authority over the tournament that I didnâ€t like this business of the individual RPers picking the winners because it was awkward. In addition, I expressed disappointment that Johnâ€s re-debut match would be a guaranteed loss. Under normal circumstances, a pre-planned loss would have been fine, but for his re-debut I wanted him to have a shot.

However, I then told that person that I would schedule ANOTHER match with someone else and that the match would not be pre-determined. The end result was, I was happy with this arrangement I had made and had indicated to the person in authority that I was happy with that.

Would I have liked John to advance in the tournament? Yes, but not because I demanded it. I felt awkward, but that was on me. Did I care once I found a new re-deubt for him? Not really. I had indicated to the people in authority I had spoken to that I was happy with the new arrangement.

So, the end result was I had found an opponent for a re-debut of John, I was going to start that thread last night then start the tournament thread the next day, and all was well.


Sometime later that night (with discussion continuing into the early morning of the 14th EST), I was informed that the tournament result was overridden and John was going to be slatted to win. I probed a little bit into this, but it felt very political so I stopped investigating what happened and why. It didnâ€t feel good, it seemed to get into board politics that I wanted no part of, so I decided to watch Doctor Who and curl up in a defensive ball in my bed. Eventually, I asked all involved to stop talking to me regarding this matter for the rest of the night. As a result, I have no significant knowledge as to why this decision took place.





Next time, it may be easier if the mods or organizers pick the outcome rather than have it like this. I understand pre-planned RPs, Iâ€ve done many myself, but this type of quasi-competitive RP needs unilateral control if itâ€s going to be pre-planned. Thatâ€s just my respectful suggestion.

I also want to say, I did NOT want to give this thread my attention.

Passive aggressive posts DO NOT help the situation. Implying you might not come back to the site doesn't help either. I wasn't going to even acknowledge this thread, but I felt a need to explain in public because it was my match.

I don't know the details of the argument, but this was not the right way to handle it. Lunar's a buddy, but the only reason I gave this thread any type of attention was because people are asking me what happened and I'm trying to handle it with some form of transparency.'


There's absolutely no reason it should get to this level.

Mr Bean, for what it's worth: If you want the win, ask. If you're not comfortable determining it that way, tell him that and get the mods to do the booking.

I understand your position completely, but we can work around these things minus the shitstorm.

The main thing that should be said here is forcing people to choose who wins before the match starts is a bit much, I agree with bean. No one wants to say to the other person "Let me win" You feel like a jerk and then the entire match is based on "This person will win in the end". It sort of steers it in the wrong direction.

THAT BEING SAID! When you DO tell people to decide who's going to win beforehand and give them that power, in no circumstances ever should anyone else be able to override that decision. They were given the power to choose that and telling them afterwards "Well now your choice doesn't matter" is a little ridiculous and messed up.

Everyone understands WHY things are done that way.

Everyone knows going INTO IT that is is GOING to be done that way.

If you would like your character to win, then POLITELY make your case. Then, if no one backs down, and BEFORE it turns into a hot mess, come to moderation and they'll pick someone.

No one should go into a match expecting or assuming to win. That's what causes tension.

From what I know of this situation, things had no reason to escalate to this point. And I don't think you needed to defend your position, bean. At least not to clear your name of anything. However, thanks for telling the story so that there will hopefully be no more further inquiries or accusations.
