Mind you, it's not about giving as much as you get, it's about writing a match and not stepping on your opponent. Sometimes I find myself frustrated thinking "WHY WONT YOU JUST BEAT THE FUCK OUT OF TAYLOR???!?!?!" Sometimes people just don't go for the throat when I wish they would. Other times, if I land two moves in a row they start crying about it being unfair. It's lose-lose most of the time.

If you have a partner you trust, you can go deeper. It's true everywhere.

NEWS FLASH: the Archergurl who you speaking of is not part of AFW anymore and she's currently working in production for new game titles in Japan. I'm her Canadian friend who she gave her PC due to mines has crashed. She was nice enough to give it to me to help a friend in need. So she got a spared one that she uses for the things I've mention above. BTW, Anegge and Alexandra be sure to check the E-mail adresses carefully. As Archergurl and me aren't the same thing.

I think something else of note to mention, is that godmodding should not begat godmodding. If someone starts powerplaying the hell out of you, it doesn't help any to do it in return to them.

I don't see why it's necessary to the matches to be an constant exchange of attacks.
If it does, they all get boring for following the same formula over 5-10 pages:

"My character feels the hit, it hurts, somehow manages to escape then uses a suplex/bostoncrab/lowblow while smiling"

Wrestling is not like a pokemon game, get hurt and then hurt, get hurt and then hurt. It's totally about someone screwing the other until it recovers and then go for a comeback, screws the other, then there's a comeback and so it goes on.

EDIT: For counters and defenses, I use Kelsea's formula in competitive matches: every three attacks of my opponent, I succeed in dodging/blocking/countering one. And every three defense attempts of my opponent, I fail to land a move in one. Unless of course the attack of my opponent or the counter attempt is unpractical, totally incorrect or physically impossible.

It's not necessary. You're missing the point a little. This isn't a critique on style.

Landing two moves in a row isn't godmoding or powerplaying. And even if it WAS, that's besides the point. Consistency is the issue here.

Just to clarify a couple of points so there is no misinterpretation about what we mean:

I don't understand where you are getting this from.. In fact, if you WERE always taking an attack and immediately dishing out one of your own... Then this is what we are considering as "subtle" power gaming because you are not selling your opponents moves properly (As per the second example above). *MOST* times you take a hit, the majority of your post should be centered around actually GETTING HIT (by which I mean that you shouldn't write half a post on getting hit and then the other half on making an attack back each time you take an attack).

If I try to take 3 solid hits before attacking or countering but my opponent returns my attacks immediately +50% of the time they get hit... Can you guess who's going to win? People who do this have to ask themselves, is it more important that your character wins? or that BOTH you and your opponent enjoys the match?
