Guess once again I'll have to clarify it. If you read the whole thread, you will see that by some point Bluemouse wrote this:

I land two moves in a row they start crying about it being unfair. It's lose-lose most of the time.

Then I wrote: "I don't see why it's necessary to the matches to be an constant exchange of attacks" Note that it is not the same as saying: "The rule of the matches having to be a constant exchange of attacks is stupid".

And, sorry Kelsea, but "constantly going to the defensive with the intent to counterattack" is describing a legit, fair fighting style that exists in the real world. I guess what you're trying to say is "defending every attack and counterattacking next is powerplaying."

Well in the end just have to play it the best you can and keep communication going with your opponent. If something seems off just clear it up. Does make you think back to your own writing and making sure it isn't going over the line.

I could demonstrate to you why it's a cheap thing to do, but that'd require us having a match, and I have a feeling that'd involve both of our characters standing around forever. Who has that kind of time?

Tell me. Would YOU want to wrestle someone who only defends and counter attacks when you haven't talked to the person about it before hand? Cause we can do a match like that and then you can see how unfun it really is.

Try to read it, calmly.

Think for just a minute. What's the difference between "attempt to defend/counter" and "defend/counter everytime?

That's my point.

Well.. Instead of explaining why we see it as powergaming, I'll explain why it can be harmful to an enjoyable match

Match begins
Kelsea: Waits for you to attack
WrestlerAngel: Goes for a punch
*I decide that a punch isn't too bad, so I don't mind taking it*
Kelsea: I get punched, stands back and waits for you to attack again
WrestlerAngel: Goes for a suplex
*I decide that a suplex is too much damage to take*
Kelsea: knees you in the stomach and tries to reverse into a suplex of my own
*You are now in the position where you'd look stupid to do anything but take this hit*
WrestlerAngel: Gets hit by suplex
Kelsea: Goes for an armbar
WrestlerAngel: gets armbarred, sturggles for freedom..
Kelsea: keeps the hold on..
WrestlerAngel: Gets to the ropes.
Kelsea: Releases, gets back to feet and goes into a wrestling stance, waits for you to get up and attack
WrestlerAngel: Gets up and throws a kick
Kelsea: Stumbles back..
WrestlerAngel: Tries to follow up with a dropkick
Kelsea: tries to shove your feet out of the air and leaves you to hit the mat
*how can you now do anything but hit the floor?*
WrestlerAngel: Hits the mat
Kelsea: goes for a boston crab

Rinse and repeat

By doing this, I can get hit some of the time in measured amounts (so I'm not countering all the time)... But whenever I DO counterattack, I have you in a position where it would look ridiculous for you to some how escape my attack... This tactic can be done even by *attempting* all of your counters, because you can set up scenario's where it would be ridiculous to counter the counter attack (counter-ception). Most people who are the victim of this tactic will not enjoy the match.
