Tempest Tournament Round 1: Gabbie Desjardin Vs. Neske Alapo

It looked like Neske's words had gotten to Gabbie, as the blonde Canadian gave her immediate knee-jerk reaction to Neske's teasing. Literally. Another lightning-fast kick was sent out into Neske's jaw, and, just like that, she was out for the count. No more snarky comments, no more suggestive behavior, no more chances to make a comeback. As she lie there, listless on the mat, the ref came in one more time to check if she was able to fight, but it was a solid kick, and her cranium had taken enough.

Once the kick hit, Gabbie continued to retreat, covering her own chest with her arms as she watched on at Neske in almost horror. She knew she should probably rush over and pin the Dutch girl, but her face was still beet red. She didn't even really want to touch the girl. The pervert!

Thankfully, the referee was back down near Neske and checked her. This time it seemed like she was out cold and the referee called for the bell. Gabbie reluctantly had her hand held up and stared at Neske's downed form. What the heck had happened? Would Gabbie be blamed for it. Even if Neske's modest chest wasn't really exposed, the ending was weird and uncomfortable.

Gabbie quickly pulled her hand from the referee's grasp and rushed to get her robe. She then scurried back to Neske and draped it over the girl like a blanket.

"Hey..." She said, kneeling down. "Wake up!" She said nervously and motioned for the doctors, afraid to touch Neske. She was pretty sure the girl had a concussion, but that was the least of her concerns at the moment. "Hey, I'm, uh, I'm sorry, ok!? It was an accident! You can keep the robe for now!"

All of Gabbie's panicked skittering went unnoticed by Neske, who was long gone by this point. The occasional twitch and reflexive response by the medical aids' prodding indicated she hadn't suffered anything too severe, but she was clearly out like a light as she was loaded up onto the stretcher, her opponent's robe draped over her as she was hauled off.

Gabbie stepped away when the medical team moved in. Of course Neske hadn't heard Gabbie. She was definitely out cold. The Canadian fretted but she knew there wasn't much she could do.

When the team moved to get Neske braced and on the stretcher, Gabbie shuffled to the side, knelt down and took Neske's limp hand in both of hers. She gave it a squeeze before the Dutch girl was pulled out from the ring.

Gabbie held her head down as she slid out of the ring and followed a little behind the paramedics. Gabbie was a true competitor but she hated seeing this. This kind of thing wasn't what she signed up for at all.
