The Arrival: Abattoir vs. Lucky Uchida

Just being out of the Ice Sculpture, in and of itself, was a relief. Abattoir stayed in place, leaning in turn against Lucky, as they both caught their breath and the music blared. As her opponent finally rose, getting her hand raised in victory and offering a measured compliment, Abattoir remained on a knee, but then came the offered hand, and she slowly pushed herself up to her feet.

Now came the real test. Abattoir was a woman who suffered setbacks poorly, who indeed had all kinds of issues relating to other people, and who most importantly had very serious anger problems, and the obvious thing to do here was what she'd seen on TV before - pummel Lucky for extending the olive branch. Make a real statement in the process. It was, she assumed, what Styx would do. And then...what? It wouldn't exactly fix this. She'd lost because she wasn't great at the actual 'wrestling' part of pro wrestling yet (and, well, because of hubris, but that took a slightly more honest self-evaluation to admit). Really, she only had herself to blame.

"...Yeah." Reaching out, lungs heaving with exhaustion but still somehow upright, she accepted the handshake. "Maybe I will." Her teeth ground together for a moment, then: "Like I said...good fight."

Abattoir was a monster by most people's standards, but she wasn't, in the words of a wise man, 100% a dick.

Lucky smiled warmly at Abattoir, she could sense the bitterness of losing in her tone and lowered her head a bit. Now that the match was over and Lucky didn't have to have a stoic face for the crowd, she really just...

Lucky fidgeted awkwardly and then suddenly pressed herself against Abattoir and wrapped her arms around the girl in a quick hug. She was compelled and didn't know why. She then shyly retreated and turned away with a deep blush on her face.

"A-Arigatou... thanks again!" Lucky said as she slipped out of the ropes and hurried quickly up the ramp.

There was a split second where Abattoir was 100% sure Lucky was about to do what she'd been contemplating and pull the old 'handshake - just kidding, murder!' routine, and if she'd had the energy to counter things might have gone very differently. As it was, the split-second window of opportunity was gone before her brain had half-registered what was happening to her, and then she froze, very awkwardly, as Lucky hugged her and scampered off.

It was quiet for a moment in the ring. The ref was frozen, worrying that a sudden movement would trigger the very-still Abattoir. Even the crowd was hushed as she stared, puzzled (for the first time, the dead-inside look in her eyes had given away to a very human bewilderment), up the ramp.

At last, the nak muay blinked.

"...what just happened?"
