The Arrival: Abattoir vs. Lucky Uchida

Abattoir's hopes of simply rolling the two of them over and keeping the armbar on were quickly dashed.  Not a shock; Lucky was a much more experienced grappler, and technique had a tendency to win out over brute force.  As she tried to torque the arm, she could feel the other girl sliding into place and, clumsily but effectively, was working a leg in behind her knee to...

....Oh, this was bad.

The calf slicer was not only immensely painful, but exceptionally dangerous, as holds went.  As soon as the pressure sank in, Abattoir could feel a jolt of sharp pain running up her already-damaged leg.  It drew an agonized hiss from her, and the only reason she didn't immediately tap was that Lucky wasn't in a particularly great position to keep the hold locked in - in a more advantageous spot, she would've run the risk of tearing her knee joint apart.  As it was, though, maybe she could cut her losses and pull out.

Bracing an arm on the mat, Abattoir released Lucky and tried to immediately jerk her whole body forward.  If things went well, she might be able to separate from Lucky and try a different angle on her offense.  If not, her chances of victory were about to take a nosedive into the gutter.

Lucky herself was a bit surprised at how things turned out. The awkward impromptu calf slicer seemed to work well for the moment and all she really had to do was get her other arm free and she could begin the process of making Abattoir submit for real. As well as putting he body weight on Abattoir's leg seemed, in practice it wasn't so good as when the masked girl jerked, Lucky flopped to the side. She got her arm back, but Abattoir would get her leg back. There was still lingering pain in her shoulder that she would have to fight through to properly set anything up.

Lucky decided to let Abattoir crawl away. She took a moment to rub her own arm a bit, but stood up. She wasn't going to give the masked girl THAT much space.

Lucky slid one foot backwards and then charged at Abattoir, looking to keep her down with a well placed soccer kick to the ribs.

For a split second it seemed like the gamble hadn't paid off, and she'd have no choice but to tap before suffering serious damage - but then, impossibly, Abattoir broke free. She scrambled across the ring on her hands, with Lucky following close behind.

A frustrated growl escaped the nak muay as she tried to get some distance between them. She hadn't been able to get into her groove, at all - the veteran had proven adept at shutting down most of her attempts at getting some momentum going. Case in point, she was just pushing up to try for a springing elbow strike when a kick to the ribs lifted her off the mat and rolled her all the way over a few times, and of course she then landed on the side that'd just been kicked, and it sucked. Abattoir had taken serious beatings before, the kind that'd left her intubated for days at a time, but it wasn't often that she found herself quite as thoroughly stymied as she'd been in the past few minutes.

Under the mask, Abattoir bit her lip, hard. Don't move. Suppress the pain. Let her think you're out of it. She had her back to Lucky, and as the other girl approached to follow up, she tensed her muscles like a snake coiling to strike. As soon as Lucky moved close enough, she'd roll over and try to pull her into the classic small package - one of the techniques that, in her short time watching pro wrestling, she'd seen used to surprising effectiveness. Perhaps a cunning trick would get results where brute force hadn't. If nothing else, it might get her a little more control over the situation.

Lucky was pretty certain with Abattoir down and reeling that she had a good shot to continue her offense. However, as she leaned over to reach for Abattoir's waist, the masked girl suddenly sprang to life. Before Lucky could even gasp, she was being turned upside down and put into a cradling pin.

"ONE!"

Lucky barely even registered the count.

"TWO!"

Now Lucky definitely heard that and she powered out with all her might, kicking her legs straight up to break the hold and avoid the surprise pin. She laid next to Abattoir, panting, her chest rising and falling as her heart beat loudly in her chest. That was a bit of a rush and while she had stamina, that seemed to momentarily take the wind out of her.

"TWO!" The ref raised two fingers in the air, drawing a singsong echo of 'twooooo' from the crowd.

Her ambush tactic had been successful, at least when it came to getting Abattoir some breathing room. She'd rolled Lucky up in the blink of an eye, and even gotten a two-count in the process. Two seconds where she was holding the pin meant two seconds she wasn't getting attacked, and that was just enough, along with Lucky being a bit dazed from the abrupt small package, to get her on the offensive.

She had to stay on Lucky. Giving such a formidable opponent a chance to recover would be a grave mistake.

Skittering backwards, she popped up into a crouch and leaned all her weight on her good leg, coiling up to strike again. As soon as her opponent sat up, Abattoir would step in for a short-range version of one of her signature moves - the Bitter Feast, a straightforward running knee to the face. It was...not quite as effective as she'd have liked. With one leg gimped, it was impossible to get a proper running start, and even the strength of the strike was maybe half of what it would've been, at most. Still, throwing knees was her wheelhouse. Sometimes you had to stick with what you knew.

Lucky huffed as jAbattoir rolled off of her. Her chest heaved and she sat up, knowing she couldn't stay down for long when the masked girl was already on her. Lucky's eyes widened and she threw up her arms, but Abattoir's weight still crashed into her and sent her sprawling back down to the canvas on her back with her arms flailing at her sides.

"Shimata..." She huffed, the first thing she had said all fight and the first sign of her icy facade melting, if only a bit.

When you're a monstrously awful person who fights a lot, as Abattoir was, it's sometimes difficult not to get a little violence-drunk as the momentum of a fight shifts your way. She was a millisecond away from diving onto the downed Lucky and letting the elbows fly when the more calculating part of her mind finally overpowered the lizard brain. Lucky was stunned, not dead. She was still dangerous on the ground, and more experienced at that - trying to swarm her with wild strikes might end up very badly indeed.

Kneeling behind the other girl and shoving her up to a sitting position, as if to apply a sleeper, Abattoir instead grabbed the arm she'd been working over earlier, looped her own arm around it, and tried to torque it into a fairly simple jointlock. The crowd booed zealously; after the fast-paced action of the last minute they were not pleased at all at her slowing it back down. Well, let them get in here and try to keep up with Lucky if they wanted action so badly.

"Echh!"

Lucky grunted as she was pulled into a joint lock. She winced, but at least she was sitting up now. She used her free hand to slip it up and around the back of Abattoir's neck. Gripping it as tightly as she could, Lucky pushed up and back with her legs, jamming her back into Abattoir's chest and using the girl to steady herself into as much of a standing position as she could. She would then try and lurch her body forward and roll back to her knee, hopefully bringing Abattoir along with her for a hard snapmare.

Judging from the way Lucky pushed back and worked her way to her feet, it seemed like she was going to try to power out. Fair enough. Maybe Abattoir couldn't run roughshod over her, strength-wise, but she could make the escape as unpleasant as possible. She cranked back on the arm, hard, and thus was very surprised indeed when Lucky did the exact opposite of what she was expecting and snapmared her to the mat.

"Hgh!" The nak muay landed square on her back, stunned by the sudden impact. These mats looked a lot more forgiving before you landed on them.

Lucky stood up and took a few steps back, letting her arm droop to her side. She wasn't going to need it at the moment and as much as it hurt, she needed to keep at Abattoir. She bent her knees and cleared the distance as quickly as possible, trying to hit the masked girl with a running soccer kick right at her spine. Hopefully that would keep her stunned long enough to be able to continue attacking her.
