yep, it's awesome reading threads about how Army Army guys are and getting into arguments on how to pronounce carbine.

/vg/ is awesome for actual game discussion. /tg/ is awesome for anything tabletop related (I've actually helped design a couple games on /tg/. One of which was called CAR LESBIANS and is just as awesome as it sounds). /m/ is great for anything mecha/toku/retro anime themed. /co/ is awesome for their comic discussions and old-school comic storytimes (And if you're into the whole comic piracy thing, which shame on you if you are, the Daily Win-O-Threads are fantastic).

I could go on, but yeah.

EDIT: And as far as /m/ goes, most toku fansubbing groups have roots in /m/, which I think is awesome. Born out of a mutual hate for TV-Nihon, their love of toku blossomed into something amazing. Makes me want to cry tears of joy~

I'll give you /co/ and maybe /tg/ However, there are a lot of good /tg/-centric sites that you can go to to get good and more /tg/ stuff without getting 4chan crabs.

I loved early /vp/. I liked it when it first launched, and up to the release of Black/White.

Then the damn furries took over the board and I got the hell out.

Supposedly it's been cleaned up. I should check it out again sometime.

I was banned from 4chan, so I hate that place.
