WTF ever happened to the real heels?

It got old. People got smarter. Times changed.

But don't worry... you can keep whining in this thread. Just make sure to read the first port every time you finish a rant. <img src=" title="Very Happy" />

...that was mean! Bad kitty!

The closest thing to a real heel is Randy Orton. I really like him(although i was kind of mad when he stopped Kofi's push), even when he's face he is a total moron mic wise and probably the only one who has the balls to say Vince McMahon that he can shove his ideas there where the sun does not shine and does not clown around for kids.

There you have a guy who smokes weed, pisses off from the army, invents the orange-o-meter, braggs about his affair, shows the middle finger to the PR Department upon his return interview from being suspended and shits in other peoples belongings and is still a top competitor in the biggest wrestling league cause he's badass good in the ring and the girls love him.

Of course his promos suck. Right now, anyone in WWE who isn't named Punk, Regal,Kane, Rhodes, Jericho, Cena (on occasion) and Miz have decent (Ziggler) to Shitty (Heath Slater) promos.

Have we confirmed for a fact that Orton flipped of the PR department, shit in that one chicks luggage, and bragged about his affair? Last I heard those were still just internet rumors, which the IWC loves to automatically decide must all be true. If they are, then somebody show me the interview or press release.

What is a orange-o-meter? Skin color? Wouldn't Ric Flair have invented that? or Hogam? Whoever went orange first.

And finally, if the above about Orton is true, then that doesn't make him a "good heel" or a "true heel". What it makes him is a bad person. A true Heel would have to be someone who can carry his gimmick outside the ring and be just as badass outside as he was inside. A good example? HAKU. Haku was a LEGIT badass. Guy could have done MMA if he was younger and didn't go into wrestling.

Of course, its all a moot point. With today's wrestling, there is no point in the old school True Heel. Nor would it be a good idea to have one, as it would just generate bad PR with the overly sensitive world that cries out "THATS A BAD THING FOR CHILDREN" the second you mention anything about anybody.

I like Miz catchphrase and part of it's moveset(running clothesline in the corner, Backbreaker/neckbreaker), but that's it. The guy is a poor mans Buff Bagwell(at least Bagwell had a funny hat...) in every other aspect, and that's really sad if you think about it, WWE champ or not.

Orton:
When he returned to Smackdown, Orton virtually puked on the PR department in an interview, putting "vacation" in the stars with his fingers. Striker(?) was totally uncomfortable with it, but Orton gave a shit. Great promo, not kidding^^

The orange-o-meter signs are about Orton's skin color. The guy could be green in my book, it would still be funny when it was a grass-o-meter <img src=" title="Wink" />

Him shitting in that bag and peeing in a trashcan before going out on matches is confirmed by many wrestlers(including HHH) and ranks about the most disgusting things ever on a civil scale but shows that the guy is a nonconformist of the most severe order. And would you put that in a press release?

What I like about him is that he not even tries to hide it and gives nothing about how people view him.

So many inside jokes about that guy.

His greatest moment has already come and gone though. And nothing he could do will ever be able to top it.

Eh, I still wouldn't label him a "true heel" because of it. A selfish jackass for sure, at least in his younger days, and maybe a little bitter about being suspended, who wouldn't be, but not a true heel.

Also....a "Poor mans Buff Bagwell?"

Really? REALLY?!

Buff Bagwell couldn't work a match to save his life, his tag team "American Males" was a giant disaster and his biggest claim to fame is either winning the tag belts with his mother, or the "Judy Bagwell on a pole" match. The only good things about him were his hat and his hilarious entrance music.

Miz is wayyyyy above Buff Bagwell.

Yeah, really.

Buff Bagwell is in all respects a manchild who has never really drawn a dime, that's true without a doubt. But you can't really think that Miz is a better wrestler than Bagwell? For me, the Miz is a guy who has simply no business in a main event match and should be restricted to his current position at best, draw or not. Not because he is rather small, it's his moves and manners that make him hard to endure for me, the prototype of the duckshit heel. Maybe I would have more fun watching him when he would be a face, he is just not a heel to really dislike but more of the guy that bullied the smart kids at high school and later washes their cars, someone you make fun of with glee for a short moment but then forget about him quickly.

O the positive side, I am quite sure that he is a really great personality in real life with Maryse dating him instead of a random musclehead, and he sure has a spot on the roster, but not in the main event.

Honestly, I prefer Miz as a heel to Orton any day.

Orton, when a heel, is a so called "cool heel" that developed in the attitude era. Where wrestlers were heels, and did heel things, but wanted to get cheered for them.

Now sometimes, like Ortons recent face turn, the crowd just turns a person face by cheering. But whats become far to common is the heel that wrestles like a face, and expects to get cheered for their actions. The ones that suddenly can win matches cleanly with their own signature set of moves, the ones that, when the face runs down to confront them, stands tall and doesn't show fear or back down, which is what a Heel is supposed to do! These are the heels that no sell faces moves, constantly treat the faces as if they aren't worth the time of day, and try to soak up the cheers that belong to the face, without getting any heel heat in the process.

Triple H has done it, Austin did it, Orton does it, Batista did it. Most heels now try to do stuff like that and its just not heelish.

The closest we have to a true heel right now is Jericho. Who recently turned face.

I have no problem when heels run and attacking from behind until the match starts if they are not monsters, but at this point they have to stand and fight in a way that you can cling to the idea that they can actually win with wrestling.

A main event of an PPV(or even a big midcard belt match) should be a battle like Hart vs Michaels, Hall vs. Michaels, Undertaker vs. Edge, Batista vs. Orton, even Punk vs Undertaker, Savage vs. Hogan, Sid vs. Hogan, Sting vs. Flair or at the very least Kofi vs Ziggler for the IC Belt, not a weasel vs. a lion.
Not one of these guys forgot that they could wrestle when they were heels in the golden era and the new generation, I would say that Heel Michaels was an even better wrestler than face Michaels. I am pretty sure that Michaels would not be as big as he is today when he would have been only an average wrestler and MITBt or flucked his way to titles. Let them win, let them wrestle. Let them win dirty but in a way that could happen, like feet on the ropes or DQ victory, not through some shit like a henchman coming in or a run in.

As an example, I absolutely hated the recent heel run of Christian, that was a tragedy. The guy is such an awesome wrestler, but when he turns heel he forgets all but his most basic moves to let the face look good, and that's just shit.

Im the guy who thinks Ryback is funny so my opinion on wrestling really doesn't hold much weight.
