Lightning Tournament: Round 1: Gabbie Desjardin Vs. Lucy Grange

Lucy drove Gabbie down, producing a resounding thud from the ring. Using moves like that wasn't her strong suit, but hey if you get put on the receiving end enough times you can kinda figure out how to bust it out yourself. The main thing that the British girl knew in this match was that Gabbie was close in both height and weight, something that was a rather rare occurrence for her now that she thought about it.

After the spinebuster Lucy was on her knees, taking a second to admire her handiwork. Whatever momentum Gabbie had been trying to build was just nipped in the bud by Ms Grange, she got some good shots there early on. And the young woman knew that those strikes were going to hurt and whittle her down.

So with that in mind after taking a deep breath Lucy was going to move down and grab hold of one of Gabbie's rather nice looking legs, to try and flip her over for a one legged Boston crab. Lucy had an idea, whittle down the limbs of the enemy and hamper the striking capability. Of course thinking the plan and executing it were different things.

Gabbie grunted as she was rolled onto her stomach. She had been pretty dazed by the spinebuster, but she wasn't completely out of it. She also knew that her legs would be the biggest target on her considering they were her most dangerous weapon.

So as Lucy rolled her over and tried to hook her leg, Gabbie fidgeted and squirmed, trying to wriggle her body to keep Lucy from locking it in, fighting to keep on her side while Lucy tried to sit on her butt.

"Rgghh... grrr..."

Unfortunately, it wasn't enough and when the pair's bottoms met, Gabbie hissed through her teeth as the half crab was locked, showing off her toned, yet smooth leg off to the cheering crowd.

"Hffffffff!"

Holding the leg of Gabbie put a thought into Lucy's mind, she had the better looking legs. Made sense given how Gabbie looked, everything just screamed fist fighter. Lucy didn't have much in the way of martial arts, unless one counted wrestling. It seemed like that background was going to be a good help for the British schoolgirl, she was going to need it. There was just a slight twinge of jealousy there though, it was akin to being envious of those with bigger breasts. Only this time it was leg centric, but Lucy put those petty thoughts aside.

Right now she was working over on the leg that she had, based on what Gabbie presented already to Ms Grange attempting to whittle down her limbs in the hopes of hampering her strikes seemed to be the best course of action. With that in mind Lucy tried to keep the hold applied as best she could, every second could count and make life that little bit easier. The only sounds that Lucy produced right now was that of light grunts as she focused on taking the chance given to her.

"Hggggnnnhhrrr!"

Gabbie continued to growl, flashing her teeth as Lucy pulled harder on her toned thigh. The Canadian's cheeks were quite red but she had a steel eyed look of determination as she began to jam her fists and forearms into the canvas to try and pull herself to the ropes.

She was glad to be facing a girl near to her size, which let her be able help resist. The fact that it was a half crab too allowed her the use of her other powerful leg as she made the long crawl.

It was best to whittle down the enemy bit by bit here, that was what Lucy thought to herself. Despite her image of being this teasing British schoolgirl Ms Grange felt like she knew her way around the squared circle, thanks to getting into the school of hard knocks AKA Asia's indie circuit. When your put into sink or swim situations like that, you either learn to prosper fast or wither out.

Still all good things had to come to an end, Gabbie just wasn't going to lie down and take this. Ms Grange would be kinda annoyed if she did, maybe when your brought up to be the best you could that was something you tended to expect from those who did the same thing you did.

Once Gabbie reached the ropes and the ref called for the brake Lucy did it right away, Ms Grange inwardly felt like her opponent earned that one. Following this the British girl would make her way near the middle of the ring and hunch down, giving Gabbie a small nod for the sake of it.

Gabbie took as much time as she could without making it look like she was purposefully sandbagging. Her leg hurt, but as she planted, she was almost grateful for the half crab. The most important part of her leg was still intact and when Gabbie turned around and saw Lucy nod, she pounded her fist into her glove.

Gabbie rolled her shoulders back and hopped forward, circling Lucy as she looked for the right spot. When she felt comfortable, she planted and aimed a low kick at Lucy's calf, hopped, ducked and came in for a combination aimed at the blonde Brit's stomach.

Lucy was feeling something, that rush of adrenaline and joy that came from fighting in the squared circle. She lacked that during her last match, the guy was cute and all but just didn't really have what it took to hang with Ms Grange. Here though was different, Gabbie was providing that spark and kick. When the opponent put a fist into a hand, that was when Ms Grange knew things were getting serious.

Just the way it was liked, the British girl would circle Gabbie. Mirroring her in the opposite direction, this was something common in any fight. The circle of doom, staking out the enemy and who dares wins and all that jazz. But it seemed that the enemy was going in first, and again it was with a low kick.

In response Lucy yelped like a hit dog, those attacks stung against the bare skin of the Brit. That was the second time, and it just made Ms Grange feel like a bit of a tool when she heard that noise. But Gabbie wasn't done yet, Lucy's focus wavered slightly and the other blonde girl moved in to deliver a one two combo. "Dhgn!" Lucy sharply yelled out, Gabbie had proved that her strikes weren't to be trifled with. This wasn't looking good, the enemy was starting to build some momentum. In response Ms Grange staggered back with her arms clutching her belly, she needed to back off and try and get ready for the next attack.

Gabbie had wanted to get some wrestling ring. She had told herself after her last match that she needed to work on her wrestling ability. She had expected to be able to pull Lucy in after dazing her with a combo, but as the Brit stumbled backwards, Gabbie's instincts took over.

She planted her foot and aimed a beautiful and powerful roundhouse kick at Lucy's head. It was one of the most satisfying ways to finish a fight and she knew if she could catch Lucy on the chin with one, she could end the match in one hit. Maybe she wouldn't NEED to improve her wrestling skills if she could set up a quality strike like this one?

Lucy could tell one thing, Gabbie most certainly smelt blood. That little combo had served to work over the young woman quite well, and it made sense that Gabbie try and press the advantage given to her. This wasn't good, the important thing was to not try and allow the enemy to expand on this. Otherwise it could spell doom for the British girl.

As Ms Grange staggered back she could tell Gabbie was aiming for a well placed strike, as befitting of what she already did. When all you have is a hammer after all. Seemed like it was a kick, Lucy trusted her gut feeling on this. And she continued to move backwards, right into a back roll. Just as the leg of Gabbie was being brought into full swing, success by the skin of one's teeth.

"...lucky..." Lucy muttered under her breath, she wasn't out the woods yet. She made to rise back to her feet, if she could get a chance to maybe grab Gabbie then she could apply some wrestling moves. But getting in close and doing that was easier said than done.

Rolling to the mat was certainly a viable option in a wrestling match, unlike the kickboxing Gabbie was used to. She was impressed with Lucy's dexterity in avoiding her kick, but she didn't take time to admire her opponent's prudence.

Gabbie rushed as Lucy was standing up, looking to crash into the girl and drive a hard knee into the Brit's gut. At least with all the attacks, Gabbie had driven Lucy closer to the ropes. The Canadian was certain that Lucy was running out of places to run.
