Beat the Clock Challenge Match 2: Blossom Fields Vs. Angel

Blossom could see her tombstone now: Here lies Blossom Fields. Died in the ring. The weird German accent should have been a clue.

Well, it wasn't quite that serious, but Blossom could safely say she'd never felt more flat-footed in  a wrestling ring. She wasn't just fighting the Champion - again, the Friction World Champion - but a woman who was at the peak of her game and out to end this as soon as possible. Blossom wanted to be confident, but she was totally out of her depth. No getting around it.

Angel pulled Blossom up and wrapped her arms around her waist, the start of a move Blossom recognized very well - a German Suplex. One of her own best, favorite moves, and one she'd never had done on herself. A trend she was trying to continue.

"Come on!" She reached out and grabbed the top rope with both hands, even hooked one of her legs over the middle to stop the German Suplex. It worked. Barely, but it worked, saving Blossom's life for another two seconds. Two seconds she very much intended to use.

"Back off!" She swung her elbow around and tried to clock Angel square in the side of her skull. Hopefully enough to knock her down. Or stun her. Or hurt, a little. Heck, Blossom would have just been happy if it made her let go.

Angel tugged on Blossom, trying to heft the girl off of her feet and into the air, but...

Dammit! she thought, as she saw Blossom's hands latched onto the ropes, her leg hooked onto a bottom one. She scowled, giving her a sharp yank, but it seemed like she had a firm grip.

Then came the elbow, slamming hard into the side of Angel's head. With a grunt, the Latina let her go, staggering back a few steps from her, reaching up to briefly rub the side of her skull.

Oh yeah. Blossom was going to pay for that.

...that worked?

Blossom spun around after Angel released her, utterly stunned to see she'd actually managed to do some real damage. She'd staggered the Champion - once more, the Friction World Champion - now all she had to do was follow up with something before Angel regained her senses and annihilated her. Attack, attack, attack!

Blossom bounced off the ropes and ran straight towards Angel, heading at her with full steam and speed. She leaped up at the last moment, turned her body sideways, and tried to crash into her with a cross body block. Not even something she typically did in matches, just the first thing that popped into her head.

She could do this. Angel was only human after all. Maybe, just maybe, Blossom could go the distance....

Go the distance straight into Angel's arms, it seemed.

By the time Blossom had leaped into the air and towards the Latina, Angel had already shaken off the elbow, and was already bracing herself for her more inexperienced opponent's follow up. She was ready for her, and as Blossom sailed towards her, Angel raised her up her arms to catch her.

Then, she would drop down, countering Blossom's attack with a backbreaker, slamming the girl down hard onto her knee. Nothing too fancy or too showy, just a quick, easy drop downwards.

Yes! Blossom could do this. It was just like Rocky in the first movie. The underdog getting a once-in-a-lifetime shot against the world champion, beating all the odds and silencing all the doubters. They'd set her up to fail, but she was proving them wrong.

She leaped, collided with Angel's body, and...and...aaaaaaand....

Blossom expected Angel to fall on her back with her on top, flattened by her weight and compact size. Instead, she was just hanging there, suspended in the air. Caught in Angel's arms.

"Nuts."

She had enough time to squeak out that one little word before she was brought down hard on Angel's knee, folded in half and sacrificed on the altar of her sinewy thigh. Blossom screamed like the Banshee and went into a thrashing fit as pain shot through her bones, making every tendon and muscle down the line flare up. "Mybackmybackmybac-" Hands flailed, legs kicked about, mouth stayed wide open, and Blossom wished she were anywhere but here.

Blossom went down, the Latina letting her slide off of her leg and onto the mat. With that clock ticking down, she didn't have any time to waist, so she quickly slid on top of Blossom, grabbing her leg and lifting it up, trying to go for the quick, easy pin.

The referee dropped down, and slapped the mat, beginning her count. "One!"

"Two...!"


Blossom wanted to tell herself that she'd given it her all, that she'd done her best and she didn't have anything to be ashamed of, and that she'd fought well against incredible odds. She wanted to be the hero, just this once.

"Three...!"


But that wouldn't be strictly true, would it? Not if the bell ringing in her ear was any indication. If Blossom had put a Hot Pocket in the microwave before she came out of the back, the stupid thing probably wouldn't even be warm yet. That wasn't a victory, spiritual or otherwise. That was annihilation.

"Won't...forget this..." She tried her best to glare at Angel through the mask of pain.

Angel rose up after the bell rang to end the match, looking down at Blossom with a grin. She leaned down, and offered her a hand to help pull her back up to her feet.

"Drop the glare, chica," she teased, tilting her head towards her. "Not your fault you got the bad draw tonight, you know?"

She then looked back over her shoulder towards the clock, wondering just how long it had taken her to bring down Blossom.

The giant countdown clock on the AFWTron froze at one second under two minutes when Lukretia rang the bell after the three count was called. The General Manager stood up and clapped. "Gut, das gut!" She said and looked about to the audience. She raised her hand and outstretched it towards the giant screen.
