Diana sat on a bench backstage, preparing herself mentally for the upcoming fight. She had just come back to Japan, after spending nearly a year back in Brazil with her family. Though she did spar a bit with her old acquaintances, that was mostly to keep in shape. She hadn't had a real match for quite a while now, and was quite worried as well. Especially since this was a brand new league for her, with new fighters and a completely new style to get used to.

Luckily for her she was relatively unknown as of yet in this league, and she was going up against a relatively unknown girl as well. This would be a good way to slowly ease her way in. Diana didn't have many friends here yet, even though there were many girls from the old league here, they weren't the ones that Diana knew too well. Though looking on the bright side, it just meant that Diana could start all over, and make a new name for herself!

A stagehand came over and waved to her, signaling that it was time for her to enter the ring. Diana nodded, standing up. She quickly checked her costume to make sure it was on correctly, then headed out onto the ramp. There was some cheering from the crowd, seeing that back in the old league Diana was a fan favorite of sorts. She gave them an appreciative wave before dashing down the ramp and leaping over the top ropes into the ring.

Ingrid paced back and forth as she waited for her turn to enter the ring. This would be her first proper match int he AFW arena. Her previous match had been in an outdoor setting and as thrilling as it was, it ended with her loosing. She vowed not to make the same mistake and indeed somethign fromt hat fight hadd stirred within her.

As the trumpets of Turisas' "Battle Metal" heralded her, She burst through the curtain in a full run, raising her hand crafted ax above her head and screaming some sort of nigh intelligible battle cry. "Yeaaaaaaaaahhh!"

She slid into the ring and hopped up and looked at Diana. She pointed her ax at the girl. "Thou darest challenge me!?" She proclaimed before slapping her chest with her fist. "A grave mistake indeed!" She said as she handed off her Axe tot he referee and gripped the ropes tightly shaking them up and down before crying out once more.

Diana was wondering what kind of opponent she was going to have when suddenly what could only be described as a screaming battle-ready barbarian burst onto the ramp, brandishing an overlarge axe as she ran down the ramp. The sheer energy from the opening made her jump a little in surprise, but then when she realized that this was just an enormously elaborate gimmick, she couldn't help but be exasperated. She wasn't quite rude enough to straight out facepalm in front of this girl, but she definitely had a sweatdrop moment.

"They really weren't kidding when they said there's odd people in this league," Diana thought, "Do people really take this seriously? Well, best not to underestimate the opponent. She's certainly got that fighting spirit."

Taking a deep breath, Diana put her best game face on. "Hey, viking-girl!" she shouted, her voice surprisingly enough matching Ingrid's in loudness, "Why don't you just give up and go back to your boat? You've got no chance against someone like me!"

Ingrid's eyes gleamed at the loud and defiant challenge that Diana issued in return. She put her arms to her sides and let out a loud chortle in response. "Hahaha! Surely thou doest jest!" She then grinned and slapped her chest with her fist again. "Nay! I shan't refuse any sort of challenge! Verily! Thou may even havest the first strike!" She said as she opened her arms and allowed Diana to take the first hit of the match.

"Hmm, well you're asking for it!" Diana shot back, cracking her knuckles as a smile crept onto her face. This girl was good at keeping in character, but Diana knew that she couldn't be too tough. Though from the way the girl opened herself up and allowed Diana to have the first strike she wasn't too bright.

Taking a small step back, Diana lowered her center of gravity, before charging forward at a quick sprint. Normally she wouldn't go for an attack like this, since it was impractical, but since Ingrid was leaving herself open there was no reason not to. Besides, it'll teach the girl not to underestimate Diana! She would use the momentum to send a powerful turning kick straight into the viking's gut, hopefully winding her and knocking her down on the mat!

Ingrid steeled her body as she saw Diana accept her challenge. Her eyes narrowed as she watched Diana prepare. She put on a confident smirk as she watched Diana charge. The whole time she had a smile on her face until the attack came. The kick sailed hard into her gut and her eyes widened. She was launched backward and rolled to over to the ropes. She panted and gasped for breath and panted hard as she pounded the mat with her fist. She winced in pain turned her head to look at Diana.

She haggardly pushed forward, turning her body and rushing at Diana while still gasping for air. She charged at Diana, stumbling about halfway before letting out a loud grunt and pushing herself forward to try and drive her shoulder into Diana's gut for a spear-like tackle. "hghGYAAAAHHH!"

Having been trained in muay thai, Diana considered herself a powerful kicker. When she sank that huge hit in, she was completely expecting Ingrid to at least get knocked to the ground, or perhaps even get kicked into the air! But then, her foot felt like it struck concrete. And though it managed to really hurt Ingrid, Diana wasn't feeling too pleasant either.

She wasn't expecting Ingrid to get up anytime soon after that, so she took a few steps forward to press her advantage. But then, Ingrid suddenly rolled and got up, and with a massive yell charged forward! Diana was completely caught off guard, not expecting her opponent to get up after that hit. She got tackled in the gut and lifted off her feet, landing hard on her back. "ACK!" Diana grunted in pain.

Ingrid fell forward on top of Diana. She was still raggedly panting, her hot breath pouring onto Diana as she raised her fist and tried to slam her elbow down hard onto Diana's face, all while yelling between hard pants, her chest heaving mightily up and down. Ingrid could feel a pain in her lungs. She'd needed time to recover but she had to scare Diana into thinking she wasn't human by pushing herself beyond pain and beyond what Diana would expect was capable of a regular human . Even if that creation was merely an illusion.

Diana groaned as Ingrid lay on top of her, throughly winded by that last blow. She couldn't believe how Ingrid still stood after that kick! Perhaps she needed to step things up a bit, use her speed a bit more instead of just hitting Ingrid hard. But even then, she knew she did damage. Ingrid was panting hard, and no matter how well she hid it, Diana could tell that she was in pain.

The elbow slam knocked Diana's face to the side, stunning her slightly. But even so, Diana hit back almost immediately. Her hands went up and clapped Ingrid right around her temples. It was a blow designed to stun and to force Ingrid off of Diana. She didn't want to fight on her back, after all.

Ingrid growled as her temples were hit, sending a throbbing pain into her head and causing her to sneer. She hated to admit it, but she had to withdraw for now. She climbed off of Dian, hoping to slam her heel into Diana's stomach as she clamored away from the girl, panting and trying to regain some of her breath as she rubbed her temples.
