Hawkeye vs. "Gnarly" Charlie Haines

Charlie lost sight of Hawkeye for a moment but heard a slapping sound. He turned and looked over to find out what she was doing. It was a good thing that he did.

As soon as Charlie turned he saw a big, fast boot coming flying directly at his face! "Oh shit!" He shouted as he ducked down, rolling right underneath Hawkeye's extended leg. As soon as Charlie was behind her, he jumped up, grabbing her head from behind, locking his hands behind her chin. He bent his knees up against his own chest, wedging them directly against Hawkeye's back. All that was left was to hang on, and fall backward to complete a back stabber on his opponent.

One second. One split second was all Hawkeye needed to squash Charlies face and take him down for the count.

It seemed however, that a split second was all the speedy Charlie needed to get behind her as well, Hawkeye only feeling his hands around her chin before she was suddenly dropped back onto the guys knees, the sharp impact knocking the wind out of her, her legs snapping up before she rolled off of his knee's, gasping, wide eyed, for air.

From a technical standpoint, Charlie was happy that his reversal paid off so well. As soon as he saw the pained expression on Hawkeye, all that changed.

The pangs of guilt he felt before were amplified. Charlie wanted to win, but he didn't want to drag anything out. As he looked up towards the turnbuckle, he might not have to drag anything out provided his next gamble paid off.

Charlie got to his feet and ran towards the corner. As he got close he squat, getting a strong lift-off as he jumped up, landing on the top rope facing away from where Hawkeye was. Charlie looked behind to verify her location before he jumped into the air.

He took a deep breath, and instead of happily calling out his favorite top-rope move, a slightly sheepish "Surfs up" escaped his lips as he jumped looking to hit Hawkeye with a moonsault from the top tope!

It took a few moments, but Hawkeye began regaining her air, the pain in her back starting to lose its edge. It would take time to recover from that move, but she could do it. If she could get the time, she could come back and still take this match for herself.

Then Charlie came down, moonsaulting himself onto her chest, his smaller body still having enough momentum to come crashing down on her, driving the wind out of her for the second move in a row, her legs kicking up from the impact before she laid flat on the mat, eyes closed, groaning in pain.

Charlie instinctively hooked one of Hawkeyes legs and the referee began to count.

"One!"

Charlie heard the crowd echo the count, and a few cheers of appreciation were audible. They seemed to like the back-to-back moves coming in close succession. Charlie was catching his breath and formulating a plan just in case his opponent kicked out. However, he was confident she would stay down. They both took a beating and had Charlie been in Hawkeyes shoes there is no way he coukd kick out. She had to be down...... right?

"Two!"

"Three!"

The ref girl counted, slapping the mat a third time before signaling for the bell to ring. Getting to her feet, she helped Charlie up and raised his arm in victory, the crowd cheering as his name was announced and his music began playing.

Hawkeye didn't react for a short while, only panting and groaning before finally rolling over onto her front and pushing herself up to her knees, wiping some sweat off her brow. She had been defeated yet again, for the second match in a row. Much as she wanted too, she couldn't be angry with Charlie for it. He had fought hard and, on this night at least, proved he was better. For that, he had her respect.

"H...Hey...congrats. Your not bad...old man..."

She said, congratulating and teasing him at the same time.

Charlie got up and raised his hand in victory, acknowledging the crowd. He looked happy but inside he was a jumble of emotions. Did he hurt her more than necesary? Did she hate him? Would this turn into something he would get of on? It seemed like a hundred separate worries were running through his head.

Almost at once, Charlie felt relief as Hawkeye spoke. He smiled and got ahearty laugh of relief out of her comment. "Thanks kid, you did damn good. Seriously though are ya ok? I mean you are all right, right?"

Hawkeye groaned a little, though the smile on her face hopefully told him that she was looking for sympathy, rather than actually being too hurt.

"Heh, I'll be alright. I've taken lumps before, I'll be back in no time."

It took her a minute, but she managed to get back up onto her feet, one arm rubbing her bruised and sore stomach, the other extending towards him, offering her hand.

"Your pretty tough Charlie, I wasn't pulling any punches you know. With your speed and moves, you could be a real threat around here, you know that?"

Charlie smiled at Hawkeye, elated that there was no ill will. She seemed to understand that he wasn't a scumbag.

"I know, you pack a hell of a punch! I really think I just got lucky ya know?" Charlie said. "I appreciate the compliment but I have a long way to go before being as good as some of the people around here. The Johnny's come to mind, as does that nutjob King..." Charlie added referring to John Mitchell, Johnny Higurashi and Killer King.

He walked over to the rope, sitting on the middle rope and holding the top rope up. "Ladies first."

"Heh, a fast and talented fighter, AND a gentleman to boot? Be still my heart. If you did hentai, you'd be a hell of a triple threat that few guys here could compare too."

She said complimenting him, ducking and stepping through the gap in the ropes he offered, playfully patting his cheek in the process before stepping out onto the floor below, the crowd applauding the friendly display between the two as they walked to the back together.
