Trying To Break Out (for Highfly)

As Melody stood over Alaina she started to realize she overdid it. Despite how common the move was nowadays, it was still a very stiff kick to the face, and it could easily end a normal match in an instant (although Melody had little luck with the later).

But she would apologize later. Alaina was down, and while Melody struggled to end a match with a Superkick, maybe she would actually have some luck to win this spar with it right now! She hooked the Amazon's leg, and started counting outloud (hitting the canvas with her free hand in time with the count) for 3.

Alaina's ears were ringing as Melody laid across her chest. Alaina struggled weakly and failed to kick out as the first count came!

"ONE!"

Alaina was limp after that, not resisting at all as the second count had come and gone. As Melody's hand went back up the amazon cried out as she thrust her shoulder up and broke the count! However, the slumped back down to the mat in a heap, still trying to recover from Melody's super kick.

Melody didn't expect Alaina to kick out at one, however:

"TWO!", once she tapped the mat for the 2 count, for a moment, she thought that her Superkick might be enough to pin the Amazon for 3!

However, once her hand was in the air to administer the 3rd count, Alaina proved her wrong by kicking out, before she even started shouting for 3.

Melody promplty rolled away from the Amazon and stood back to her feet. While Alaina got back to her feet, she glanced at Navi, the two girls nodding at each other, as if reading each other's thoughts. If all went well, they might have Alaina down for 3 after a move or 2. However, Melody would wait until their sparring partner stood up before throwing anything at her.

Alaina got back up and focused right on Melody, ready to continue. She felt like as jarring as that hit was she still had more left in her before she went down. The amazon wiped blood away from her lips, feeling the sting as her arm moved over her cut lip. Alaina circled a bit before shuffle stepping up and launching a hard kick straight into Melody's sternum as a small measure of payback for the sharp shot to her face earlier!

As Alaina stood up, Melody noticed her wiping her lip, noticing some blood on her finger and lip, and realized that her kick did that:

"Shit.... I am sorry...", she said, with a sad look on her face. However, as Alaina got back to a fighting stance, Melody's face shifted quickly, as did her own stance. After a bit of circling, Alaina took a quick step forward. Melody expected Alaina would launch at her for a takedown, so it was a great surprise to the green-hair when Alaina threw a powerful kick to the middle of her chest. Being forced on her rear from the kick, Melody clutched the hurt spot, cringing in pain...

As Alaina's kick connected she stepped back and crouched, keeping her eye on Melody. Alaina sprang forward and lunged again this time extending her arm and trying to plant Melody to the mat with a hard lariat! Alaina knew if she could pile on more she was going to be able to get someone in a near fall soon. She had taken it to both women in this matchup although each of them going in and out was making her wear out, not to mention the punishment she had taken since the opening bell!

After Melody got up to her feet from the kick, Alaina didn't waste any time, running straight at Melody with a lariat to her head! With the Amazon leaving very little time for her to react, her forearm connected, and Melody went down on her back with a scream of pain, holding the aching spot on her face where the forearm connected.

She had some more flashbacks to their match, as a lariat like that was Alaina's last move before her finisher. Melody laid on her back as she considered all options right now. But neither standing up, nor dragging herself to her corner would work, the former would take too much time with how long it would take with how worn out she was, and Alaina standing between her and Navi after the Lariat with the latter. She was now having doubts about this:

"Even 2 of us together aren't enough to beat her?", she thought, as she, tiredly, tried to push herself upwards, with little success.

Alaina huffed and recovered as Melody was working her way up slowly. Alaina opted to help her out a bit. The amazon grabbed Melody by the arm and whipped her over into the corner as hard as she could!

Once Melody was on her way Alaina would pause a second and then take off after her, looking to charge in and jump to land a hard 160lb body splash to flatten Melody against the corner just after her impact. Of course, if Melody moved then Alaina herself would be in a world of trouble!

Her theory on taking too long to get up was proven to be correct, as Alaina approached Melody and got her up by her arm, before launching her in the corner, landing backfirst as she rotated shortly before colliding with the corner. Navi was there on the other side of the rope, looking at her with an outstretched hand, ready to tag herself in at any moment.

Still slightly dazed from the lariat earlier, Melody tried to push herself out of the corner... and that's when she turned her head forward, seeing Alaina charging right at her, looking to sandwich Melody between herself and the corner!

Although she would usually counter something like this with a Uranage, she simply didn't have enough time to prepare for Alaina's splash, instead opting to roll out of the corner, Alaina's jump ending straight at the turnbuckle!

As Melody rolled away, she outstretched her hand to give the recovered Navi a tag, forgetting for a second about the Amazon behind her!

Alaina slammed into the turnbuckle and fell down onto her back clutching her chest as she howled in agony. She looked and saw Melody reaching put. The amazon began to crawl desperate to reachave put and grab Melodys ankle, pulling her back.

Unfortunately for Alaina, it was too little too late as the tag was made!
