Clyde Gastin vs Carmen Rodriguez - The Quick and the Dead

Carmen was starting to wonder where Clyde was pulling all his energy from, and if she could start tapping into it. The man had good stamina, on top of his other attributes - with a few extra pounds of steel added on, some minor improvements to his technique, he would have made a good welterweight.

Clyde burst out of the hold before she could do anything else - she was thinking about a revenge DDT, for the record - and yanked her down on her back, grabbing her legs and tucking them under his arms.. She started to pull back and throw a punch, thinking he might try a submission; she wouldn't be able to muster much power on her back, but it would be enough to make him back off.

Unfortunately, he did back off, and her punch only hit dead air, a useless swing as he lifted back and flung her across the ring like he was a Texan catapult and she was a Puerto Rican boulder. Totally surprised, her face smacked into the turnbuckle and she slid down, falling to one knee while she leaned on the ropes.

Flinging Carmen into the corner behind him, Clyde was already springing back up to his feet before he even knew if the move was pulled off correctly. He charged at Carmen rgiht as she smacked face first into the turnbuckle and before she fell, he was already behind her.

If he managed to get his arms around her waist successfully, Clyde would pull on Carmen's waist tightly, squeeze and with a mighty grunt, try to lift her right off her feet. "Haah!" Clyde yelled as he lifted her up and leaned back, trying to dump Carmen shoulders first on the mat with a firm release german suplex!

What Clyde lacked in height or brute force, he made up for in speed and momentum - his attack was relentless. Before Carmen could even get in a solid breath, he was behind him, wrapping his arms around her waist. She could tell what was coming, and she tried to grab hold of the turnbuckle to stop it , but she was too dazed to grab it in time - up and over she went, tossed like a bag of garbage and landing with all the grace of one.

She crashed hard on her shoulders and rolled to her front, groggily working up to her knees - no matter how long she did this wrestling thing, she swore, she was just never going to get used to being tossed around like a ragdoll. Clyde was starting to run away with the match. If she wanted to regain control and have a real shot, she had to put the end on that. Now.

She stayed down, waiting for Clyde to come her way - if he did, she would try to burst up and give him a quick straight in the side when he came near, going for the spot she hit with her hook at the start of the match - might've still been tender.

"Wheeew-baby!" Exclaimed the Cowboy in a rowdy manner as he threw Carmen over his head and sent her careening into the mat, landing on her upper back upon impact. Clyde himself was more or less okay, thought her strong punches had battered him earlier he was still in mostly decent condition.

He sat up and watched Carmen roll onto her front, groggily standing up, the sight made Clyde whistle. "Dang girl. You tough." He commented with a smirk, not many folks got up that quick from a german suplex, it was quite impressive the fact remained that she appeared hurt and Clyde had to put her away.

So the cowboy charged at her, ready to take her down with a running boot to the face most likely but as he closed the gap, Carmen met him half way and tagged his ribs. "Uugh!" Clyde winced and staggered back, cursing himself for trying to follow up instead of being more cautious and as a result, he felt a bit more winded, like it strained his insides just to breathe.

"Not half bad, yourself, vaquero." She chuckled under her breath as Clyde moved in, looking to lay her flat on the canvas. The compliment was appreciated, but she was still getting thrown for a loop by the suplex - taking punches and taking throws were different things with different mindsets, and she was still learning how to deal with both in the same match. Her head was still swimming for the impact, but if there was one thing she could do even with a scrambled brain, it was hit things and hit them hard.

Her sneaky punch managed to connect and do its job - hurt him, made the pain worse, and got him to back off, hopefully slowing down his momentum and buying her some time to grab the ropes and pull herself all the way up. "Strong ribs. They build you guys tough in Texas, I'm seeing."

Clyde just smirked devilishly as Carmen let her Spanish roll of her tongue. There was something really hot about a gorgeous, tall, tough-as-nails boxer babe that called you vaquero like that. That being said, Clyde had no idea that Carmen played for The other team. Not that there was anything wrong with that! In fact it probably made her hotter.

He still had the hottest babe with pink hair in Japan though. But unlike his lady, he couldn't fool with Carmen, her fists were just devastating but at least she was cool. Clyde was digging this match. He didn't remember the last time he actually had fun in AFW, these days it seemed like this whole place was just out to fuck up his life! So Carmen, so far, was really cool.

"Heh. Ya sure know how to get a cowboy all red, darlin." Clyde added, blushing just faintly at her comment but he couldn't let up! He charged at her at fully speed, but... Had to slow down, his ribs ached and burned, making him bite his lip. Desperate, he went to the ropes at the side, put his legs on them and leaped forward, turning his body so it faced Carmen while his leg swung out, trying to give her a roundhouse kick across the side of her head from mid-air!

Carmen's father had always taught her to be a studious boxer, that the sweet science was every bit as mental a sport as it was a physical one, if not more so. The greatest fighters - the Alis, Leonards, the Mayweathers, the Marcianos - they didn't just walk into the ring and start throwing punches. No, they knew who they were fighting and what to expect. The fight was halfway done before they ever touched a glove. Scouting was essential. As her father said more times than she cared to count: 'the greatest painter in the world can do nothing without the right tools.'

She'd done her homework on Clyde, but as she was coming to learn, that philosophy could only get you so far in a wrestling match - as Clyde was showing, wrestlers had many, many different ways to surprise you.

He came rushing at her, his speed on full display...until the pain in those ribs made him lurch a bit. She sympathized with him, since that feeling was one she'd come to know and know well. When the wrong bones start taking it, everything hurts. Heck, that's why she hit him there in the first and second places. Debilitation.

It gave her some time to get her fists up and ready, and it was a good thing she did, too, as he came at her with a nasty flying roundhouse. Leg swinging about in a wide and deadly arc, right for her head. Her guard caught the impact and managed to stave off a blow that would have had her on the floor, otherwise.

It was still enough to give her skull a nasty jar and send her over the ropes, bouncing off the apron, before she tumbled down in a heap on the floor below, landing on her back. Not the most graceful landing ever, but they were outside, now - maybe that would open up some new possibilities to work with.

Eager to get back into the fight, she grabbed the apron and started to pull herself up.

Clyde clicked his tongue when he hit Carmen's arms rather than being completely direct even if he did manage to rattle her and actually sending her... Over the ropes!? "Gah damn, girl!" Clyde exclaimed, he had never used this move before, it was a page out of his Ex's book and it seemed to really pay off despite his own physical problems at the moment.

Clyde propped his elbow up as he fell to the mat, trying to cushion himself before he went down and keep some of the impact off his ribs. He stood up just in time to pear over the edge of the ring and see Carmen on the outside, on the arena floor trying to pull herself back up with the apron.

The cowboy stood there, looking at the boxer as she slowly got up, Clyde waited, taking a breather for a moment before he grabbed the ropes and raised his arm for the crowd, extending his index finger. "Here goes!" He cried before pulling down on the ropes, using the momentum to vault himself over the top ropes attempt to come crashing down right on top of Carmen for a flying cross body splash!

"Yee-Haa!!"

One thing that Carmen had to criticize Clyde for, here. He was hardly the only person with this sort of problem, too. Carmen was starting to learn a lot of wrestlers were like this.

The noise. Always with the noise.

Maybe it was just the fact that she was so used to fighting people who had their mouths full, but all the noise wrestlers made seemed a bit odd to her. Sure, she didn't mind a little in-match banter, but there was a time for it. Before an attack didn't seem like the right time for it.

Case in point.

Carmen hit the floor hard, stunned, a nasty spill. It wasn't fun, for sure, but she was still in the fight, and she could certainly hear him start to rally up the crowd. She was hardly a wrestling genius, but anyone who'd ever watched a single show could get a good idea of what was about to happen. She couldn't know exactly, but she figured it involved a 140 pound Texan falling from about ten feet right onto her.

"Come on, man, don't do it, don't do it, seriously-"

Yup, he was doing it. Sure enough, he came up and over the ropes, coming down on her with a body splash.

Carmen closed her eyes, rocked on her back, and pulled up her knees to her chest. This was going to suck in a myriad of ways.

Clyde never feared flying. He didn't know it yet, but he was born to do it, one way or another. He could be a cautious fighter, but he could also be a risk taker. He rolled the dice again and was usually lucky. This time however, he rolled snake eyes.

Vaulting over the ropes, Clyde expected a landing on Carmen to hurt his already battered ribs but he had no fear. He was a high-flying brawler and a showman and wanted to let the world see what he could do while giving Carmen as much hell as possible in this match. Unfortunately for Clyde, he would be the one catching hail as he saw Carmen drop back and raise her knees, she'd probably barely be able to do that by the time Clyde landed on her, but either way it still happened and Clyde's crashed into Carmen, his unprotected abs falling on her knees as his body went limp over her, his back stretching outward as he bounced up, a soundless cry emitting from his lips as his eyes went white and spittle ejected from his mouth, a silent breathless gasp being heard as he tried to breathe, choking on thin air.

He rolled on the floor and curled up into a ball on his side, his legs kicking at the floor as he squirmred violently before he growled in pain, pounding his fist on the floor. "...H-Hnn....N...Nn..Naaaghh!!!" He shook his head as he grinded his teeth, flopping and rolling like a fish until he met the metal guard rail, punching at it with one hand while his other hand caressed his abdomen, swearing he felt a rib crack upon that brutal landing.
