Adrian Kytes vs Navi Florges

Despite Navi having a fairly mediocre carrier in 2017, filled with both wins and losses, she was ecctatic about the match she would have in a few minutes, mostly about who she was fighting. The former hardcore champion - Adrian Kytes.

With her failing to beat Alaina in a Falls Count Anywhere match a while ago, she thought wouldn't get another shot at the best AFW had to offer in a while. And it was a big surprise to her that she was scheduled to face Kytes today. She also didn't let the fact that she was facing a hardcore specialist like Adrian in a hardcore match let her down, despite the satisfaction she would've gotten if she beat Adrian at her own game like that.

Much like with her first match against Alaina, Melody was in the locker room for moral support (and in case the match went wrong for some reason...).

As Navi got dressed in her entrance attire and a crewmember would knock on the door of the locker room, sayin Navi's entrance is due in 2 minutes, she would stand up from the bench, and wave to Melody as she walked towards the room's exit.

"Good luck! And please, don't do anything stupid"

"No promises, Green,"

Before Melody could say anything else, Navi closed the locker room's door, leaving the annoyed green-ette alone in the room.

Navi would enter to both her themes at the same time. Her actual theme and a chorus of boos from the crowd. Despite the fact that Navi didn't think she was really evil or bad, the crowd reaction let her know what they thought of the blonde. And as always, she didn't hate the reaction. She loved to feed off of heat from the crowd.

She would go down the ramp, all smiles in the faces of her detractors, and would soon enter the ring. As her theme would fade out, and as boos toned down slightly, both Navi and most fans in the arena would look towards the entrance ramp, awaiting the arrival of the ex-hardcore champion.

Adrian Kytes finished up the last of her wrist tape and rolled her neck, trying to get a last few stretches in before heading out to the ramp. With her Hardcore title days long gone and Summer Splash done without her for the first time in several years, the Brunette was feeling pretty confident about how things were going after her fight with one half of the tag team champions Akiha Kosha. Adrian might not have had any gold around her waist but she was still a major threat for anyone to face, as Navi Florges would find out.

Wonder if anyone already made the "Hey, Listen!" jokes at her... probably a hundred people. Adrian mused to herself before she got her signal to step out into the bright arena lights, crowd roaring with cheers as she made her way down to the ring and get a good look at Miss Florges before the bell rung.

"Okay... so what is it that you do?" Adrian asked inquisitively as she stepped through the ropes, trying to keep her distance in case the answer was "Rush you down before the bell."

Navi looked carefully at Adrian as she made her way towards the ring. As she entered the ring, she would ask a fairly interesting question to the blonde:

"Huh? What do you mean?", Navi would ask with flase confusion in her voice. She knew what Adrian meant by that, but, surprisingly, for someone who bent the rules of a regular match on more than one occasion, only once did she ever attack her opponent before the bell, in her second match against Alaina. And really, she didn't want to change that. Plus, Adrian seemed to recognise most things in the book already, so attacking her during a handshake, or jumping her before the bell would likely end in failure for the blonde.

As such, she would simply keep waiting in her corner until Adrian was ready as well, and ref would call for the bell.

Once it did ring, Navi would move out of the corner and stepped towards the center of the ring, ready to challange the former hardcore champion to a test of strength.

"You know..." Adrian began, trying to adlib something as her blatant attempt to get a better idea of what she was up against fell flatter than her chest but as soon as the bell rung, she got a pretty good idea of what Navi was about. You don't offer a test of strength to start a match off unless it's one of two scenario's: a) it's a trap, b) you're pretty sure you'd win one and with Adrian's relative lack of upper-body strength for her size (for AFW), that probably put Navi in the latter category. So it was time for Adrian to slink into the former.

The two weren't that different height wise, allowing Adrian to reach up and put one palm against palm, as though she had accepted the challenge, before spinning under the outstretched arm and yanking it down behind the French woman, pulling her quickly into a hammer lock to start the contest.

As Adrian came closer to grapple Navi, she took on one of Navi's hands. However, just before she grabbed the other hand, she would spin under the the trapped arm! Rather than accepting the blonde's challenge, the former hardcore champion would trap Navi's arm in a hammerlock!

The blonde would hiss in pain as the hold was applied, but would quickly figure out a way to get out of the hold. Trying to shift her centre of gravity, Navi would try and hip toss her opponent over her body! And to not allow Adrian any time to recover, Navi's hands would go around Adrian's head, trying to trap the woman in a side headlock while she was down!

Adrian was caught awkwardly between trying to duck and dodge past any retaliation that was being sent her way, and the best way to not avoid getting thrown on your ass turned out to be keeping light on your feet. The brunette was so concerned over getting elbowed in the nose that Navi was able to shift herself to send the former cosplayer tumbling overhead, following up by quickly scooping Adrian into a firm headlock before her shoulders had registered that they'd hit the mat. "Nghh!" She grunted, twisting herself to keep one shoulder off the canvas while stuck in the french woman's headlock.

Although Navi had Adrian in a headlock, she knew it was a bad idea to keep the hold in for very long. For one, it was a fairly basic submission hold, and one can find a way to escape from it fairly quickly. Add to that a veteran of the ring like Adrian, and Navi could completely lose the momentum of the match if she kept the hold in.

As such, while she kept the hold in, she found her way to her feet while keeping the hold in, simultaniously getting her opponent to her feet as well. Once to a full stand, Navi would jump, and try and land on her rear, trying to drive Adrian's head into the ground with a Bulldog!

Adrian twisted to face the same way as Navi yanked the former cosplayer back up to her feet, still trapped in the headlock tightly as the French woman prepared to start pulling the Brunette along for the ride. Wrapping her arms around the blonde, when Navi jumped up Adrian would lunge forward to put her knee right where her foe was going to land, the tight headlock would give her a crick in the neck to be sure but better a crick in the neck than landing tailbone first on the former cosplayer's knee.

As Navi jumped, she didn't feel as if anything was wrong. So far, she has managed to have the momentum of the match on her side, Adrian not mounting much offense so far. Maybe there was a reason why Adrian was the former Hardcore champion.

And just as Navi thought ahead of herself, the reality came crashing down on her...just as she did on Adrian's knee.

Unexpectedly hit with an Atomic Drop, Navi would let go of Adrian and stagger forward, grabbing her sore spot on her rear, with her tailbone hurting from the impact, allowing a clear window for Adrian to retaliate!

Adrian was stuck with one knee on the floor and a sore neck but with how Navi stiffened up in front of her the brunette wasn't going to get a better shot in the early going to take the french woman down. Launching off from her somewhat awkward starting position, Adrian kept low before leaping into a full dive, aiming to smash her shoulder into the back of Navi's knee with a chop block. Another old-school move that rarely got play.
