Canadamouse
I is in Canada.
When going up to my hotel room, the first thing I saw was an empty Tim hortons cup just sitting around, and I thought "welcome to Canada". Its not far from where I live, but you cross over the border and suddenly everyone's accents are totally different, which makes me squee. Accents are my jam. >_<
It makes me giggle when instead of "excuse me?" People say "I'm soh-ree?"
But ya, I've never seen a part of Canada that isn't ugly as shit, flat scrubland... Well, aside from Quebec city. But its pretty ugly here and the food portions are enormous and not a ton of healthy stuff to be found. And I don't know what the hell anything is. I did stumble on a tiny Greek restaurant, that made me so happy.
But ya, things aren't going quite like I hoped... So Toronto Partymouse might not get a chance to shine, but its still nice to get away.

Enjoy the land of Ice Hockey and Poutine. Hope the wilderness is pretty in the late summer.

Re: Canadamouse
I tried to get poutine last night, but the friend I'm with can't have gluten or else death (gravy is thickened with wheat flour, fyi). And I'm not going to get it by mySELF.
But ya, all the parts of Ontario I've seen are just flat and junky. Whenever I leave my part of New York I really appreciate how pretty it is. I would say that I'd go find some nice wilderness, but it's more the urban jungle that I'm gunning for today...

Re: Canadamouse
Whereabouts in Ontario are you? Because you've just described....well, every part of Ontario that isn't Toronto (or possibly Niagara on the Lake).
OTOH, from what I saw of it last year, upstate New York isn't much better, although the flat scrub is broken at points by the Adirondacks.

I remember the N.Y. side of Niagara Falls was the like the land that time forgot. Barren streets, blocks of shuttered stores...I could have sworn I saw a tumbleweed once too...
...Then you go over to the Canadian side and it's like Mardi Gras~

This is more my association with home

If you only see something from the interstate between cities, I guess it'll be scrubby.
And why would you go to ny Niagara? You can't see the falls, that's why no one goes there. We've got lakes and mountains and lilacs though. And all four seasons, though the seven months of winter this past year impinged on the fall.

I've heard this winter is gearing up to be worse than the last. Might be rubbish, but you should probably stock up on that heating oil. Oh, and some Dragonglass to fight off the White Walkers...

Re: Canadamouse
Theres going to be a mass exodus from my if this keeps up. Like, buffalo got 7 feet of snow in 24 hours last year, and if we get it this year people will just die.
Also I have the whole gym to myself. Its fun, I never use the machines because they're for sissies. You can do so much more weight when you don't have to stabilize it. I can leg press way over twice my weight.
For clarification, I mean that twice my weight is a good guideline for squatting, and leg press makes that so easy. I could probably do more like 4x on that dumb thing. 6_9
