Ryona: How Far is Too Far?

I have to admit that in hentai (or occasionally non-hentai), ryona is one my most prefered fetishes, and something that I'm not that quick to admit.

According to urban dictionary, ryona means 'A fetish genre of (usually drawn) pornography which depicts a character physically hurt either in a sensual way, or in a sexual situation. Ryona usually has situations where the character of focus is beaten up or tortured and is subsequently psychologically damaged in a dominating way by his or her attacker.' And one of many reasons why this RP site is very enjoyable to me is due to this ryona thingy.

Still, as much as I love seeing cute girls being in pain in a rather sensual way, there will be times when I have to draw some lines, in which I'd say "Whoa, man! Not cool!!" Especially when the ryona starts to delve into guro territory.

So, what's your opinions about ryona, and how far is too far for you?

I personally rarely step.foot into hentai. So that is a line. My preference is much more towards submission wrestling and matches like that. It can really only go too far when the other person you are rp'ing with tells you that its too far.

I dont like when bone are broken.

Blood is okay but not someone being beaten to a bloody pulp, unless the rp/situation calls for it.

This is relevant to my interests.

It's honestly a thing I struggle with, on pretty much every conceivable level. I have definitely noticed my own tolerance/preference become increasingly more brutal over time, which has only made organizing matches more difficult (though it is nice to not have to worry about most people's upper limits). There's also that issue of accepting myself when I'm basically turned on by someone being miserable, fictional or not.

To answer the actual question, though, I joined this site and not a ryona forum or RP because wrestling can get about as violent as I like without crossing the line. Mutilation and death are not at all appealing to me, but I also am pretty willing to suspend my disbelief to have things that would totally be lethal happen without consequence. Basically, if a character(/person?) is not totally disfigured or dead by the end of whatever, then I'm good with it.

Also, since I'm going full disclosure here, I've kept up my jobber purity (or at least squash purity) for this long because I'm a lot more interested in ryona than I am in wrestling. Shun me if you will.

I think I'm pretty much the same, gore and death are no go. I also am not a fan of fisting and kind of consider it a form of Guro. For me I much more prefer the psychological aspect of someone being forced to admit defeat and I think, even in a non-hentai situation it's somewhat sensual.

There's something I'd like to add.

As much as I like ryona, I'd rather keep it in the realm of fiction. I'd be as repulsed as you are if this sort of thing were to happen in real life.

Just going to point out that, AFW in general is not what would be considered a "Ryona" site, as even the squash matches tend to fit a bigger story, not just done for pointless fetish reasons.


...That being said, we do have members who DO do fetish beatdown matches and such that qualify as Ryona. Which is fine, just making it clear that we are not officially a Ryona fetish site.

Generally speaking, I'm not really a fan of it. I vastly prefer back and forth fights then just some cute kawaii girl getting broken over and over for no reason.

Yes, I have to agree with you. Also, another reason why I stay around here is because of wrestling and all the engaging storyline stuff.

Just because I love one thing doesn't mean I can love more other things.

It doesn't have to be no reason. Most of the reputation I've built here is based around the fact that I'm pretty focused on making sure that there are good stories surrounding and explaining the horrific violence.

Also, I'd say the only broad categories that AFW fits into are that it's an RP site, it's focused on wrestling and it has NSFW elements. Beyond that, it's pretty free form, which is a huge part of what makes it great. People can congregate here for their own reasons and still mesh fine.

Ironically, back and forth matches tend to bother me because I'm not a big fan of violence and cruelty. I feel like the very nature and restrictions of professional wrestling make it a particularly cruel combat sport, and usually my sexual interest is compounded by a morbid curiosity as to how someone could be that brutal with someone they hardly know. But I digress.

Taking the fake aspect out of it for just the moment, Pro Wrestling in GENERAL is no more brutal or horrific than MMA, and nobody within, or as a fan of, MMA would call it horrific.

I see at it being more of an honorable agreement type thing. All fighters in both understand and accept the risks and are willing to go all out on each other in a display of athletic competition, with an understanding of fair play and lacking a willingness to flat out cripple each other, as that would be a dishonorable action.

Though of course, in story you have wrestling heels who just don't care, and I'm sure there exists, or has existed, at least ONE MMA fighter out there who was just in it because he liked hurting people.

As far as pro wrestling is concerned, I think the real brutal and horrific stuff is the freaking deathmatches involving glass and fire and barbed wire and other insane bullshit.

It's one thing to say, body slam a guy you've never met knowing it might hurt him, its another thing to say "Yes, I would gladly smash this solid glass light tube over that strangers face, then piledrive him onto glass."

I'm not claiming that pro wrestling (kayfabe aside) is more horrific than MMA, just more cruel on average. By that I mean there's a lot more beating on someone who is not fighting back at the time "for good measure" than there is trying to quickly incapacitate someone. Some things are more heel centric, but the practice of either hitting someone when they're down or picking them up so you can drop them again is a pretty universal one, and pretty uncalled for in pretty much any other context. It's a lot easier to kick out than to fight back, so when you have to wear someone down until they can't kick out rather than until they're not fighting back, then you generally have to take things farther. Or the glass thing. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it is what it is, I just don't find it appealing outside of the context of ryona.

Bringing this back to the original topic, though, this is exactly the same reason AFW works really well for ryona purposes. Knowing that in the right setup (submissions only, table matches, etc), even face wrestlers are going to have to keep the beatdown going well past when the match was decided, which makes for some good stories too.
