My friend's mother (they're like a surrogate family for me) is in with the doctor right now. I don't know details, but I gather it doesn't look good. I really hope someone is just being dramatic because i really don't know what to do anymore.

Apparently they e scheduled a surgery to remove a growth. They're testing for cancer.

It might be nothing - I won't pretend I know much about that sort of thing, but from what I've heard, there's a decent chance it's nothing serious. I had a family member who went through something similar a little while ago, turned out okay.

For you, her, and her family's sake, I hope it all turns out all right.

Yeah, it could be. She once had a mole removed that turned out to be cancerous, so I don't know if that's a bad sign. The family has been through a lot and is going through a lot, and they don't need this.

Whenever friends or family are in this type of situation, I think it helps to alleviate some of your own tension by acknowledging that it's out of your hands. There's nothing you can do right now, so it doesn't help to stress yourself out. Just have to let the doctors do what they can, listen to what they have to say, and do whatever needs to be done to help that person get better.

I know this might be hard because its a very scary situation. But please try and relax as best you can.

Thanks guys. I think the initial wave has subsided... Theres been so much of this stuff and I just panic. Its hard to be able to tell yourself when things are out of control that you'll still be okay, and I know I put too much on myself. I just really, really want to make sure I help wherever I can, and sometimes I end up killing myself in the process. I'm not afraid to jump into shitty situations or to get hurt for someone, but the waiting and the worrying...
