The genre is technically 'tokusatsu'. Tokusatsu, in this case, refers to Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Ultraman, Metal Heroes, and the like.

'Sentai' is just a word that means task force, group, or squadron. 'Super Sentai' refers to a series of 37 different shows, starting with Secret Sentai Goranger up to this year's Spec-Ops Sentai Go-busters. They're unified by being a group of people, usually five members that add on more later, but sometimes a group of three instead, that fight evil and usually have giant robots.

Kamen Rider started with the original Kamen Rider, and has led up to the current show, Kamen Rider Fourze (Which is ending this weekend. I think I'm going to cry when I see the final episode :(). Kamen Riders usually fight by themselves at first (Though most of the Kamen Riders series add a second rider about a third of the way through, and sometimes even more), and have a cool motorcycle.
