Judging from the noise, Julia sounded disappointed, and Valley couldn’t really blame her - nine times out of ten, that might be enough to take down just about anyone, especially someone their size. Valley, however, was determined to be the tenth. This match was too good for anything less than her 100%.

Valley was, honestly, a little dismayed when it became apparent that Julia was about to put her into a camel clutch. It was a pretty common move in the AFW, and it seemed like every wrestler went to it eventually. On top of that, she didn't like the idea of slowing the match down after they'd been going at Mach speed for so long.

Of course, that didn't mean it wasn't effective.

”Gah!” Valley cried out as her back was stretched and stretched far. She was a flexible woman, had been all her life, but this was taking her to the limits, as raging pangs tore down her spine.

Flashiness had been put on hold for the moment. But, though her hold was significantly more basic and less thrilling than high speed corkscrew dives and springboard acrobatics, the camel clutch served a number of efficient purposes.

One, it kept Valley grounded. With Julia seated on her foe’s back and securing her in place, the Slamazon was in no position to do anything all that threatening to the masked blonde. Two, it added on to the punishment Julia had already administered to Valley’s torso throughout this match.

“Nngh! Come on, Val! Time to tap!” Julia said to her trapped foe while cranking up the pressure and bending the Slamazon back even more. Whether Valley would actually tap or not, she wasn’t quite sure. Either way, it was worth a try.

Valley replied to Julia’s demand with a hearty, if pained, growl. ”Think your watch is messed up.”

A nice little burst of bravado, getting a chuckle from the few audience member who were close enough to hear it and spoke English, but it wasn’t much more than that. Julia did have her good, here, and if she didn’t break the hold, soon, she would have to tap. As much as she wanted to win this match, she wasn’t going to risk a hospital stay over it. She didn’t much fancy the idea the idea of waiting for Julia to get bored with the hold, either, which meant that she’d have to get out of it on her own will. Fine. Just fine.

It was time to crawl, and crawl Valley did. Pulling herself and Julia along, fighting for every inch, dragging her body along the mat like a slug as she went for the ropes.

Julia Rogers vs. Valley Doll - Light Up the Sky - Page 7 Empty Re: Julia Rogers vs. Valley Doll - Light Up the Sky

Valley seemed to have a great mind for banter, even while practically being bent in half. Julia had to appreciate it. It can be so easy for some to get lost in the competitive side of things and forget to have fun even in the midst of a grueling match. Julia had had moments like that, and she didn’t doubt the Slamazon had too. But that didn’t seem to be the case today, though Julia had a hunch she was having just a bit more fun than her foe at this particular moment.

Julia wasn’t too shocked that Valley refused to submit, and she kept her focus nice and sharp while the trapped blonde began to crawl and drag them along inch by inch toward the ropes. The cowgirl knew she could only keep Valley in the camel clutch for a bit longer, but she held onto it as long as she could. Then once the Slamazon was near the ropes, it was time to switch things up again.

The camel clutch itself may not’ve been all that spectacular of a sight. But sometimes those surprising, flashy moves can grow out of something painfully basic, as Julia was about to demonstrate. When Valley was roughly a foot away from freeing herself by reaching the ropes Julia suddenly twisted and rolled to the side, using her legs, which were still under her foe’s arms, to drag the girl over and onto her back. From there Julia would roll back to bridge over Valley’s prone body for a surprise pin attempt seemingly from out of nowhere!

Valley was getting closer to the ropes. It wasn't a fun journey - in fact, she was pretty sure she was getting a little burn on her bared stomach from dragging it across the mat -  but she toughed it out. She fought for every inch, determined and driven, and she was going to get those ropes if she had to grip them with her teeth-

Suddenly everything was turned topsy turvy, as Valley was flipped about and rolled on her back. Cute. Julia was probably trying to transition into another hold, get her away from the ropes before she could break the hold.

”1…!”

”Nuts!”

It was a pin. A weird, stretchy pin that you probably didn’t see too often north of the border, but an effective one that came out of nowhere. Valley was so stunned that it took her a second to respond after her shoulders had been put to the mat.

”2…!”

But she only needed a second to kick out, and as the referee’s hand rose, she did just that, jerking her chest up just enough to shake Julia off. ”Nice one.” Valley started to roll away, making a little distance. ”What do you call that?”

Julia, along with a good portion of the crowd, held their breath in anticipation of the final count, only for Valley to just manage another last second kickout. “Ugh!” Julia grunted as she stumbled over off of her foe. She wasn’t exactly annoyed that Valley had kicked out, but she was quite good at impromptu rollups like those, and it was always exciting to see whether or not she’d be able to keep her foe tied up for the full count when she did them.

“Well, here they call it the Japanese Leg Roll Clutch.” Julia answered as she picked herself back up and strode over to Valley, not wanting to let her get too much breathing room. “Bit of a mouthful though, so just call it the Rodeo Special.” she said while leaning down to grab a hold of Valley. The cowgirl would then start dragging her foe up to her feet while standing behind her. Casual chitchat aside, this was still a match, and Julia was intent on taking one more step toward victory once her rival was back up.

”Japanese Leg Roll Clutch.” Valley repeated the words, nice and deliberate, as she was hoisted up by Julia, the woman she was starting to thinking was her long lost little sister. ”Very nice.”

The name sounded familiar, and when Valley Youtubed it after this match, she was sure to find a bunch of interesting hits. Julia was full of little surprises, and the Slamazon was happy to have seen more of them than many got to - even if she was the target.

But Valley had her tricks, too, and while she was being lifted up with her back facing Julia, she decided to pull out one of her favorites.

She suddenly dropped down, slipping out of Julia’s grasp. As she went, Valley turned her body 180°, flipping back and nailing Julia in the face with a-

”Pele Kick.” She landed on her shoulders and rolled forward. ”That’s what I call that one.”

Julia had some good ideas for what to do once Valley was back up. Ideas that would leave the Slamazon down and dazed, and vulnerable to give the cowgirl a prime opportunity to put this one away in her favor. But, her foe had a different idea.

Her rival suddenly slipped right out of her grasp. And before Julia could even do anything about it, Valley was already flipping backward and sending a boot right at the luchadora’s face! Her eyes went wide at the sight, but there was no time to react before the brutal impact was made.

“Agh!” Julia cried out, before her body tilted back and dropped right onto the mat with a thud. The crowd was going crazy for the sudden counter, but Julia wasn’t in much of a position to appreciate it as much as they did. For now all she could do was stare blankly up at the arena lights while an intense pain throbbed in her skull.

Valley let herself enjoy the moment as the Pele Kick found its mark, looking up and watching Julia topple over. The echo from the blow was still making its way around the stands by the time she’d gotten down, and Valley was once again presented with an opportunity to use the match. She’d be seizing it.

She was still a little too winded from the camel clutch to go for something flippy and crazy yet again, but that didn’t mean she was letting. She rolled over, draped her chest over Julia’s body, grabbed the leg and went for another pinfall, thinking her feisty foe might be stunned enough for it to work. She'd never gotten a pin with the move before, but there was a first time for everything.

The referee fell to her knees and stared the count, slapping the mat next to Julia’s head. ”1…!”

Julia’s head felt like someone had taken a downward swing right at it with a baseball bat. Whatever else ended up happening tonight, a bad headache was definitely going to be accompanying her back to the dojo on top of all the other bumps and bruises she’d collected.

She felt Valley’s weight settle on top of her and a leg being grabbed, and heard the ref counting right beside her.

“2...!”

But, as strong as Valley’s kick had been, it hadn’t put the luchadora out for good. With a grunt she jerked an arm up, pulling her shoulder off the mat just in time to beat the three count and keep the match alive.
