Lab Rats and Pyromaniacs

Eka listened intently to her new found friend. It turned out her neck wasn't doing so poorly as had been first believed and that her nickname for her wasn't so far off. But Lilith...that was an odd name. The lab tech seemed a bit apprehensive to get to involved with what Lilith was doing which gave the girl a wide berth to do whatever she wanted. The Georgian girl took a step back as Lilith went to work. She listened carefully to what the girl was saying, and then...

"Whoa..." Eka felt like she was a little kid again, watching the beautiful burning of fireworks at her first Fourth of July. The fireball shot into the air with a mighty woosh and then quickly disappeared. The Georgian girl was fixated on the spot where the fireball was as if she was trying to summon it back into existence with hope.

Despite her best efforts it was gone. The fireball disappeared into the air having burned itself out. "Say... you wouldn't let me try that, would you?"

The pyromaniac watched as her second fireball flew into the air. Her lips left the tube and formed a wide grin while enjoying her handiwork. "Isn't it just brilliant?" she asked rhetorically. Of course it was a beautiful sight to behold. She made it after all.

Lilith couldn't help but giggle a little bit at how Eka jus seemed to stare at the spot where she had shot the fireball. Some of the excess powder had snowed down on the two women, lightly dusting their faces with specs of the stuff.

Then the Georgian woman asked the trigger question. "Of course!" Lilith answered emphatically. She loved to share science with others, but looking at the distanced lab tech, her sensibility got the better of her. "Though...we should probably do it somewhere better for you to practice without burning the building down..." She quickly closed up her containers, turned off the gas to the Bunsen burner, and packed everything quickly into her backpack before grabbing the extra long glass tube. Her colorfully-singed lab coat flew around in a flurry as she clasped Eka's wrist. "Come on! I know exactly where to go!" The Firehawk commanded as she tugged on that wrist to get the Georgian girl to follow her.

Eka gladly ran alongside Lilith for a second. The thought that she was leaving all of her stuff behind struck her and she tried to impede their progress for a second. She dashed back to her lab station and gathered her things. Eka could get the notes from her lab partner later and do the write-up some other time. Right now there was adventure afoot.

The Georgian girl returned to her new friend and gave a nod. "Lead on, fearless leader..."

Lilith was so excited to share her love for fire and explosives that she had gotten tunnel vision on her way to the door out of this lab. She thought she was home-free when she suddenly found herself stumble and have to catch her balance. "What the..." she said as she turned about to Eka running towards a lab station. Of course, she was in such a hurry to pack up that she hadn't really given the girl, probably a student, any time to pack up herself.

She grinned as the girl returned and called her "fearless leader." She pointed forwards to the door in an overdramatic fashion. "Beyond there lies our adventure!" She couldn't help but laugh at herself as she moved towards the door and held it open for the Georgian girl.

Eka rushed out the door at the behest of her new friend. Papers whirled and twisted on Eka's 'wind' and she felt a spirit of joy fill her. She wasn't usually the pyromaniac type but she was feeling a tad adventurous. Like a whole new world was there for her taking and it was filled with fire. It could be fun or disastrous- whatever it was, it was going to be exciting.

"So you know where we are going, yes?" It occurred to her that this is something she should have asked earlier, but that bridge had been crossed. So she stepped out and looked back at her friend with a smile on her face.

As the foreign duo exited the lab and into the hallway, Lilith looked up and down their new surroundings. I could have sworn there was a stairwell somewhere in this corridor, she thought to herself. The redhead didn't want to let on that she was already lost though and kept her energetic expression going.

"Oh...umm...of course I know which way we're going. What kind of fearless leader would I be if I didn?" She was starting to dig her hole a little bit, but that didn't stop her from digging further. "This way!" she shouted with the corridor echoing her voice as she grabbed Eka's wrist and moved swiftly towards one of the doors with what the Firehawk believed was an Exit sign.

Eka wasn't really surprised by anything anymore. When her wrist was grabbed she just sort of rolled with it as she rolled with all things. The fiery redhead was only a step or two in front of her and they burst through the doors to find the fresh air of Tokyo. It felt good, the air hitting her lungs. Almost as good as the wide eyed wonder she felt.

The Georgian girl had no idea where she was headed to but she just sort of went along with it. She picked a direction and was now leading. Maybe it was the right way, or maybe it was the wrong way, Eka wasn't really sure but she felt something guiding her that way and urging her on. "Come on!"

Lilith paused as soon as she stood outside of the building, her momentum keeping her from stopping as soon as she saw the sidewalk and busy streets of Tokyo. Shit! This wasn't the stairwell... she found herself thinking.

The Grecian woman was ready to turn around and lead them back inside to find the stairwell to the roof, but then she heard an unmistakable click of the door behind them. They were locked out of the building. It seemed like they were going to have to find a way back in, but before the redheaded woman could speak up, Eka was already feeding off her energy and seemed to choose their next destination. "Whoa, where was this quick thinking when you didn't see anybody on fire?" Lilith teased as she now followed Eka's lead.

Eka shrugged. "I just saw a person that I thought I could help and didn't really think about it. Turns out you were lucky!" She said with a smile. The Georgian girl had an inkling of where her compadre would have her go. There was an abandoned factory not far from the university and it was filled with all sorts of things that could go boom.

"You know the abandoned munitions factory, yes?" Eka asked. They had come to a crosswalk and the little red man informed them to stop, so stop they did. The streets were teeming with life, with potential. Eka searched her friend with her soft blue eyes.

Lilith let out a laugh when Eka said she was lucky. Certainly. She was plenty lucky that she didn't end up with a broken rib or two. Regardless, it had netted her what was turning out to be a day without boredom. She couldn't shake the feeling that she had seen Eka before, but she wasn't sure where. Certainly the redhead didn't have any warrants outstanding in Georgia, right? She couldn't remember the last time she was even close to there.

Eka's next question distracted that train of thought. "Oh, umm no. I've only been around here for about a month. This is actually the first time I've been in this part of the city and not being on my way to that cool maglev train." Her response was a half-lie. She wasn't familiar with the area at all yet, but her trips to the train were just to observe. She had still never ridden it. She never had a need to do so with her apartment only being about 10 blocks away.
