Kawaii Opportunities

Sun Jun 17, 2018 3:04 pm by Daaharu

Hey, guys!

With the kawaii title match at Avalanche taking on an interesting wrinkle with the interruption by the Brat Pack, we are moving forward with the overall kawaii storyline, and at this point I'd just like to take stock of what kawaiis are out there that are interested in participating in a cohesive storyline.

Can't make any promises about titles or what exactly each girl's given role would be. We can talk a little more about the specifics of where the story is going soon, but I …

Match for Takeichi

Tue Jun 12, 2018 6:13 am by GrandAkumaShogun

So with my other two guys having their own matches I figure I should do something with my first character on here, Takeichi Mori. If anyone is interested feel free to post here or get in touch through a pm so we can plan it out. I can either have Takeichi remain a jobber or begin to work him towards being a more serious competitor.

Match or RP?

Wed Jun 13, 2018 3:48 pm by Lotuswarrior

I'm just looking to do something while I wait for match replies. Really want to get some characters cemented a bit with a rival or some interactions with other characters here.

If anyone wants to do something hit me up.

Anyway I don't wanna ruin acuya's thread with my perverse lust for the King of Strong Style so here is a match I watched an hour ago!

From Arai's book:

Sometimes we were ridiculed by the audience.
But Onita's ability as a producer was extraordinary.
He felt the limit of using Martial arts style and used Death Match Style instead.

I think the remarkable successful matches were on December 10, 1989 in a 'Pro-Wrestling vs. Karate in a Barbed Wire Death Match' by Onita & Tazan vs. Jerry Blayman & Mitsuhiro Matsunaga as well as August 4, 1990 in a No Rope Barbed wire Exploding Death Match by Atsushi Onita vs. Tarzan Goto.

The Barbed wire Explosion Death Match has become a synonym for FMW later. The first Barbed wire Explosion Death Match was held at Rail City Shiodome, Tokyo. It is next to JR (Japan Rail) Shinbashi Station, near Tokyo Bay. The land used to belong to the old JR. Nowadays, the area is filled by some new office buildings.

It was vacant for a few years for further development, and we used that open space for the event.
The audience went wild with cheering and screaming in the fire spark blast and the blood. Onita-san jumped into the barbed wire and his body was cut. After the match, wearing bloodied, sweated, and a torn up vest top/pants, he talked to the excited audience from the ring. He told them about his passion for the wrestling.
That was the origin of the 'Onita Theater'.

Since this match FMW became very famous.
Fearless, extremely appealing to the audience with the tears & blood.
It was the new wave called 'Jado Puroresu'. (Evil Way Wrestling)
Although people compared with those major wrestling teams and treated us like weirdoes we carried on our style.

The match in question:

It's weird how tame this seems by today's standards. I mean even going by the standards of later FMW those are some really small explosions. I guess it's like when I saw the Exorcist a few years ago and was like 'well that wasn't so intense'; the real groundbreakers get kinda left behind when things ramp up after them.

I can kind of see it... But he's ugly as fuck. >.<

I can dig his attitude and the way he moves and shit (and that clothesline reversed into a flying armbar was choice), but... I guess I just like prettier guys. ._.

On that note, was that Kota Ibushi? I've always said that Johnny is the Kota of Tension.

That is high praise for Johnny - and yeah, it was Ibushi.  He and Nakamura had a really awesome match at Wrestle Kingdom this year.  (link here, with English commentary by Jim Ross & Matt Striker for those of you who are put off by the language barrier)

Shinsuke Nakamura is an ugly mofo...

which somehow, makes him pretty hot.

Hell of a performer though, always entertaining to watch and has had some incredible matches.

Not too big on Hiroshi Tanahashi, since New Japan shills him more than WWE Shills John Cena, but he's talented.

Never been a fan of Onita. I never really saw him as all that talented, and his habit of no selling after a match and going into a super long speech filled with crying and "look at me i'm so great" was annoying. Besides, soon enough it was guys like Hayabusa and Mr. Gannosuke and Mr. Pogo, among others, really carried the promotion, though Onita got plenty of main events for himself.

That being said though, FMW had some great hardcore matches, had a thriving womens division, with Megumi Kudo as one of their biggest stars ever for a time, and did some good work before it closed down. Hopefully the new revived version does some good.
