As a movie goer who never really cared about Star Wars before The Force Awakens (but has, subsequently seen Episodes 4, 5, and partially 6), here are my thoughts:

Because of this, as bad as they were in their ways, the Star Wars prequels are much better then The Last Jedi, imho.

Not original? Even people who don't like the movie agree it was very original so that complaint just feels silly. In fact the only complaints I felt make sense were padding and the movie going against expectations too much. Other then that I agree with acuya in that I liked it as well.

It surely was not very original. Original in some scenes, yes. Original that you would want to stand up, applaud and congratulate the director for his awesome ability to be original, no.

I assume that a large majority of people will like it, and I also admitted that it is a good sci-fi film but an unfitting Star Wars movie. if that makes me a hater, ok.^^

I don't really have a horse in the SW8 race. I haven't been anything other than lukewarm about Star Wars...ever :'D

I just think it's stretching to say that the prequels were good SW movies because they had cool droid designs and wire-fu choreography. From a story and character point of view, the prequels were, unlike the new movies, downright amateur, and that counts for a lot more than generic sci-fi visuals.

As for the claim that they do a better job of maintaining continuity and/or not shitting on the previous mythos, I have two arguments

-pussy Vader
-midichlorians.

Yeah, as a stand alone SciFi movie it can be good. But as a Star Wars movie it falls flat on its face very badly. And of course people will and can like it, that's completely fine, but it would just be best if you can at least accept that there are others out there that do not share the same opinion as you and agree to disagree with each other while respecting their opinion. Like how I can accept that you guys like the film yet I don't, as that is YOUR opinions and I have no right to judge you on that.
