I think you ought to have a picture unless you have a fairly good reason not to have one. Description and image are just two very different things. While description can be very good in some contexts, it's hard to write in an "anime" style--and this roleplay takes place in an anime universe. A lot of people are here specifically because they're attracted to that style. For them, they lose a lot if they don't have a specific visual reference that allows them to pick out the specific in-universe features of the person they're fighting.

That said--if you have some unusually unique design for a character that you don't want to dilute by picking out an imperfect stolen reference...well. That seems legit. But it is a cost of that unique design, and I'd recognize it as a cost.

I figured as such...not sure what he looks like, just looking for a pic of like a cold stare/thousand-yard stare guy, can't really find 'em, and the ones that do are armed with swords and whatnot...
