Touhou "Flowers" rpg game

incidentally, gradually starting up a Touhou rpg online for my gf (since our attempt at a classic dnd one kind of fell through when several people wanted in then dropped out again and I lost track).

figuring on a setting in Gensokyo (read as crazy world where little girls have powers) where recently, some of the smarter inhabitants have started up a highschool-like setting where they try to actually educate their fellow creatures/spread the message of "please stop eating humans quite so often," a desperate attempt to spread history and organization to their crazy world. Battles would still go down, of course, but story-wise aiming for mostly original cast with regular guest appearances (I kind of found out what Touhou actually is a month ago and played it once; mostly her idea) and a sillier school setting for most of the battles. of course, monsters will attack the school to try and disrupt things, but more often it's dealing with bullies (who also have laser powers and such), exploring the grounds and its wierdo staff, and things like getting the Kraken out of the pool so you can have swim class, or the oni phys ed teacher encourages a no-holds-barred basket ball game, resulting in open magical gunfire on eachother. it's ok. there's a nurse around too, so she can PROBABLY bring you back from the brink of death...

in short, looking for those interested. know there's a ton of people here with Touhou characters so thought there'd be some interested (even if I've been down the "Oh, Lily and Cassie! You like Touhou!?" "...what's a touhou?" conversation). even if you're not familiar with the setting, if you'd like to play a magical/monster highschool girl setting, welcome aboard. assuming mostly student cast, maybe a teacher or staff member or two. so post or drop a private line. there is a rulebook up for download that's been translated that i'm going on, but it's intentionally vague so feel free to mess around a bit with whacky ideas. the games certainly do...

I am interested in such an RP, however I know next to nothing about Touhou and the characters and the powers. Is there any resources I can look at, besides playing through the games? Not sure if I have time for that.

honestly, i found out it was a series last month. basically, know how all animes wind up as "and then whackiness ensues"? touhou jumps to that. it's basically a magical world where all the classic japanese creatures live, except that almost all of them are ALSO cute girls. there are key characters, but i hope to make the rp as original as possible and full of unique characters, the more official ones being teachers or "weekly guest stars." in these cases, i will basically jsut read their wiki beforehand and not expect you to

uhm... "The touhou game"... .. Theres like... lots of them... I'm talking... over 12... at least... We are talking about the same Touhou here? O_o

Playing one of the games is the worst way to find out about touhou, MOST of the games are dodge the bullet style spliced with conversation (usually in Japanese)

I put a link to the characters first because... dude... seriously... theres like 100 to pick from...I would have thought a Touhou RPG's main selling point would be being able to play the canon character of your choice from them... The thought of being able to play one of them would be what *might* attract someone like me to this RP, rather then having to make up my own.

really? character creation was always a key factor to rpgs in my book. hence i think i have one character in this whole board who's from anything beforehand. if i'm playing something precreated, I feel like a tool and get really twitchy about if i'm being in character. the fact that there's a hundred and i've just picked up this series/seen some fanart and read a few wiki pages means i really, really do not want to sit down and learn every character just so i can be scolded by players who know the memes more than me
