It was a hard choice. Maybe the hardest choice that Kozue ever had to make. 'Two Road's Diverged In a Yellow Wood'.

On one hand, she could see the sense in what Melissa was saying. While she was dealing with it far too slow for Kozue's tastes, at least she seemed aware that King was a problem that needed dealing with. From a practical standpoint, even if she lost the match, being in Melissa's good graces was definitely a good thing for her career. Door's would open. Opportunities would become available. She could sit at the big table. Get some respect, make some noise, turn some heads.

On the flipside, though, she'd made a promise. She'd gotten on TV, in front of the whole world, and said she'd go after King and his gang of giggling goofballs. She'd laid into Kent Quick for not taking the fight to King and being his crony. She'd told everyone she'd met with at least a single, functioning ear that she was sick of King's shit, and how bad he was for the company, and how he had to go. Post-haste, ASAP, full-stop. What would that make her, just calling it off and pushing it to some undetermined, later date?

It would make her a punk. It would make her a sad little girl, more concerned about getting titles than the company, more focused on her own glory than respecting the people she worked with it and doing right by them. It would make her Taylor Parker, and that was unacceptable.

With a deep sigh, Kozue turned away from Melissa as she walked away, leaning against the wall. Silent and still as she watched the night sky. God, sometimes she really did miss achohol.
