Blaise Cameron vs Amy Poford- A Fresh Start - Page 7 Empty Re: Blaise Cameron vs Amy Poford- A Fresh Start

It was a tough call for the ref to make. On the one hand, Blaise was clearly out of it before the punching had even started. But on the other, his eyes were unarguably open, and thus he was legally fit to fight. She had no choice but to let the match go on.

The narrowness of the line between consciousness and unconsciousness was the reason that it took the ref girl so long to realize when Blaise was actually knocked out. She had let Amy get in another four punches before she made the connection, but, once she had, she rushed in, wrapping one arm around Amy's chest and using her own body to protect Blaise's, and using the other to test Blaise's arm. Not that she needed to- Blaise looked as though he'd sleep through the second coming. But she did. And once she- and the arena- had made visual confirmation, she waved for the bell.

Amy stood up and let her arms be raised in victory, but kept her eyes on her opponent's body. Amy, for her part, half expected Blaise to get back up again. She couldn't really say that he'd fought well, but she may have in the past admired the way he could take a beating. But today, despite her victory, Amy felt empty. Blaise had been reckless. He threw himself at her without any regard to his own safety, and came damn near close to a serious, if not career-ending injury- at the very least, he wouldn't have been doing any more one-handed handstands. He had pushed her to a brutal finish, instead of accepting a dignified pin that would have left them standing together at the end, and maybe led to a mutual exchange of phone numbers. Blaise wrestled dangerously, and she didn't know if she could trust him to make the right choices in the ring in the future.

She wished she didn't feel this way. But she did. And now she had a lot of thinking to do.

Amy didn't wait for Blaise to wake up. Once she was free, she quietly exited the ring and returned backstage, deep in thought.

Winner: Amy Poford by Knockout
