The New Guy meets SEME!

Shido would be picked up by Ryuu with ease , getting carried to the corner and slammed into it with Ryuu's entire body weight! Shido would grunt in pain as the giant didn't stop there, he'd grab the fan boy's head and begin slamming it into the corner!

Shido knew he had to create some separation, but he didn't have very many options in the corner. He would grab the corner with both arms after having his head driven into it once to twice. If he was able to stop this slam, he'd jump and throw an elbow behind him, aiming for Ryuu's temple and hopefully stunning the man!

Ryuu got a good two hard smashes in after his bodyslam, but upon the third he was met with resistance from Shido. He had braced his arms against the corner post to hold Ryuu off, but his strategy wasn't a long term solution. Ryuu's strength would start to win out and he started to make progress in forcing Shido's face towards the corner once more.

Naturally, Shido struck out in retaliation with a sharp elbow, but Ryuu ducked his head to the side and his shoulder was hit instead. Ryuu switched gears a bit as he suddenly pulled back on Shido's head rather than push it, and secured his head back under Ryuu's arm. Ryuu then kicked off the cornerpost and fell backwards, so that the back of Shido's head was heading straight for the mat!

Shido was in trouble now. He'd taken his fair share of bashings and having the back of his head being driven into the match was the icing on the cake! Shido grunted and laid motionless for some time after Ryuu drilled him into the canvas."Did anyone....get the number of that bus?" He said deliriously as he laid there in the center of the ring.

Shido's period of delirium was plenty of time for Ryuu to try something new. Normally he didn't try anything fancy or intricate, he was more a strength fighter than technique. However, the fact that this was a sparring match and Shido was practically KO'ed, he had plenty of time.

Ryuu dropped to his knees and rolled Shido onto his chest. After dragging his arm out to the side, Ryuu clenched it between his thighs. He leaned forward over Shido's back and clasped his hands together underneath Shido's chin and started to pull back, enough that it began to lift Shido's upper chest off the mat!

From the side of the ring, Mitsuru clapped her hands in amusement. She would not have expected Ryuu to try a crippler crossface submission. Maybe her style was rubbing off on him for the better.

Shido would be rolled easily and put into the crossface with little effort. He didn't seem to have much fight in him at the moment, but the moment Ryuu pulled back his instincts kicked in and his eyes widened and came to life! He would immediately think of and attempt a counter, as he taking more punishment wasn't on his agenda!

Doing the first thing he could think of, he would attempt to counter the crossface into a pin!(though without grabbing the ropes like in the gif), hoping to break the big brute's hold of him!

Ryuu was impressed at Shido's ingenuity, not to mention his strength in overturning the brunt of Ryuu's weight on his back. All it really did however was put them both on their backs; Ryuu still had control of Shido's arm. Ryuu slid onto his side so that one shoulder was off the mat, disqualifying the position from being a true pin!

He then worked at getting Shido's other arm into his control by slipping his left under and over back towards himself. He now had Shido in the crucifix position, Shido's left arm between Ryuu's legs and Shido's right tucked between Ryuu's left arm. He then hooked his wrist beneath Shido's chin and clasped his hands together for a crucifix neck crank.

Shido was shocked that Ryuu responded in such a technical manner. He would have never expected a crucifix, much less the added neck crank. He was beginning to run out of gas, here. He already took some decent damage from Mitsuru and what Ryuu did so far was at least twice as painful thus far!

After having his neck contorted for several seconds in ways that weren't pretty, he would roll backwards, onto his feet. If this worked out, he would try to slip his hands free from between Ryuu's thighs, grab his arm and attempt a crossface of his own! Being smaller hasn't worked to his advantage in many situations, but perhaps his smaller limb size would make it easier to get at least one arm free from this predicament.

While Shido rolled himself backwards over Ryuu and to his feet, he made sure to squeeze his legs tighter to retain control of that arm. He had slipped the other arm free however and was reaching for Ryuu's head and trying to pull his head back. This elicited a growl from Ryuu as he gritted his teeth and pulled his head the opposite way to make it harder for Shido. With his own free arms, he grabbed the back of Shido's neck and forced his head down to make it harder for the guy to see and focus. It was a weird angle, but the length of his arms gave him so leverage to work with.

Right now, the situation was entirely dependent on whether Shido could get that arm free or not. If he could, he was going to be able to complete his crossface and if not, Ryuu would be able to keep him locked down while he figured something else out.

Shido was struggling with this counter. It was clear it was going to be as clean a transition as he might have hoped! He still had one arm restrained and need to figure something out. The kid would chose to cut his losses and try to reach backwards with his foot to try and grab the ropes and start over from scratch.

If this worked out, Shido would breathe for a sec and look over to Mitsuru asking "He learn all that from you? I gotta say....I'm impressed."

Mitsuru shook her head at Shido's implication. "Not everything, no. Ryuu should deserve some credit of his own" she smiled, flipping some hair over her shoulder as she stretched her arms a bit.

Meanwhile Ryuu continued to struggle against Shido gaining any ground in their situation. He couldn't see behind him so he had no indication that Shido was reaching for the ropes until Hikaru barked out 'Rope Break!'

Ryuu relinquished control of Shido's arm and rolled away to his chest, where he pushed up to his knees and started to slow his breathing. His opponent seemed to have a better grasp of ground combat than he did, whereas Ryuu was excelling when they were standing. He made a note to himself to keep Shido on his feet, and if he could, find an opening for a submission that would rob Shido of the rest of his limbs.

He rose to his feet a few seconds later, hands on his hips and a decent sheen of sweat. Shido was certainly making him work for the win. He settled back into a ready stance, arms raised and palms open. "Ready whenever"
