Not-In-Top-Ten: "TOP TEN IS POPULARITY CONTEST MODS ONLY PICK BLAH BLAH TYPICAL UPPER CARD MENTALITY OMG"
I think that just changes the problem, and doesn't eliminate it. I think the goal is more to develop a useable roster, not to pick favorites. If the WWE or what have you had 4k wrestlers on the books, and CM Punk was no more noticeable than nameless jobber #452, it'd be very difficult for a fan to get into it. Also, it'd be very difficult for any of those wrestlers to gain notoriety with the fans or start a feud, as so small a part of such a large group.
Right now there's a big messy pile of all of your clothes from all seasons and from 15 years ago and that you bought last week. Imagine trying to put together an outfit. I think the aim of the new thing is more to arrange the things you wear regularly so that they're easily accessible and noticeable 'n junk.

Re: AFW Writing unison
I think you partially supported my point, anyone picked for a title shot in the new system could also get labeled with just being a mod favorite or something along those lines.
You seem to be under the impression I am suggesting just a new version of the top ten, where what I truly suggested was having one on top of a list of potential title contenders as was put forth to replace what is there now.
A newer player could look and go "so these people in the top ten are considered great rper's, reading their threads might help me or perhaps these people could offer rping advice, etc."
If you were to ask who are the main names being considered for a possible title shot I think you are asking for the same thing that a top ten, one that changes as mods see new spot light threads, would show you.
It seems like that would only aid in organizing the lists rather than make it harder to do so. I also know of characters who use their spot in the top ten as a story tool, so this would allow that to continue to an extent.

I'm trying to understand what you're talking about. If I understand it correctly, you said that you're not supporting a new version of the top ten, you're supporting a version of the top ten that we didn't have before on top of a short list of people.
And we used to have veteran tags that were supposed to indicate people that newbies could go to for getting themselves situated with the site and the format.
Also, you'll note I never said anything about people being considered for a title O.o

Re: AFW Writing unison
The word "just" was key in my statement as I was not suggesting solely a new version of the top ten, but instead a mixture of the directory and a mod picked top ten.
And what the site used to have doesn't factor into what it is doing now, unless the veteran tags were reinstated.
I was expanding upon my original premise when I mentioned a title shot. As for showcase threads I can't remember if they were named spotlight or showcase but the idea is the same, the threads we would label as ones to judge our characters on for potential ppv matches and title shots.

Re: AFW Writing unison
[quote="Bluemouse":175ftqcm]Also, what do you mean by "showcase threads"?
Go read Kel's first post in the thread. :P3. Showcase matches and promos
Instead of rewarding wins, we want to reward good RPing, entertaining matches and storyline... And if we are to lose the ranking system, some players will still want something to be able to shoot for. So one suggestion is showcase matches and promos... Basically if you tag the title of a match, RP or promo you make with the word "showcase", it is suppose to be a spotlight for your character and the way you play her or him. Its important to note that in these showcases, we won't neccessarily be looking for characters that are showing off how they are the best... but rather we will be looking at Quality, volume and interest in these showcases. The rewards for good sets of showcases could be inclusion in PPVs and title shots.

Thank you Alex, but I didn't ask what Kel meant by them.

Re: AFW Writing unison
Part of Kel's post actually lends to my idea, with showcase threads being something to shoot for how does one get that reward? With the top ten as it was you got a spot in the rankings, what happens in the new directory? A version of the top ten based on quality of the showcases would offer a sort of reward.

Re: AFW Writing unison
Sometimes someone can read something and develop an idea of it that it not identical to what the writer had in mind. DG was referring to what Kel posted, but it's possible/likely that she has her own version of the idea.
