Ryo Kamiya vs Abigail Le Grande: Big Name Hunting

Abigail didn’t know much about Tension or who this guy she was set to wrestle tonight really was, just that Trixie said he was a handful and giggled like some little schoolgirl when she had asked what she meant. She’d been practically begging for a debut for weeks now, but nothing was coming her way so Beckett helped set up a match with the sister brand to Friction for her. She had been ecstatic at the opportunity to finally step into the ring and start throwing people around… but the ride here had come incredibly close to taking the luster out of the experience.

She had been sitting backstage for a while now, primed and ready in her ring gear, perhaps a bit too overeager to get started. It had been… an hour or so since she arrived? Abigail wasn’t exactly sure since she had nodded off once or twice. The show hadn’t started quite yet so she had been entertaining herself for the most part. There were only so many times she could sneak up on other wrestlers and spook them with a sudden shout, or throw wads of crinkled-up notes at staffers from the shadows though.

“Le Grande? That’s you right? The girl from Friction?”

Abigail opened her eyes, peering up at a bookish looking gentleman with a clipboard standing in front of her. She couldn’t help but crack a bit of a smirk, recognizing him as one of the people she had been pelting earlier. She supposed he hadn’t actually seen her after all. Sitting up, she gave her cheeks a light smack with her psalm, trying to wake herself back up. “That’s me, Abigail Le Grande. I’m here to fight some Rye guy.”

“Ryo Kamiya.” The staffer corrected, tapping the clipboard. “The show is going live, you’ll be up in five. Please be ready.”

“You got it.” Abigail kicked her legs out stiffly, leaning her weight forward to rock herself up onto them and stand mechanically to her feet. “Uh, hey! Got any advice for me? This is my debut.”

The staffer had already started to turn away when she spoke to him, causing him to pause for a moment. He glanced back, nudging his glasses up the bridge of his nose with his middle finger. He had a slightly sullen look on his face, though he hadn’t seemed too joyous when he first spoke to her either. “Good luck.”

Abigail slipped through the curtains, throwing her arms wide as she moved out into the spotlights. While she was a new face, she carried herself with unparalleled charisma, having the confidence that only a lifelong stage performer would have. With a sudden change of pace, she charged down the ramp, covering the distance in long strides until she reached the ring, jumping up to land along the edge of the apron in a crouch. Her palms snapped out to grasp the top rope, letting her weight lean away with gravity tugging at her.

She rocked lightly, a bit harder each time before vaulting up, guiding herself narrowly over the top rope to land gracefully in the ring. Her silver eyes locked onto Ryo, giving him a cocky smirk and a small incline of her chin. “Hard to believe this isn’t Friction... You’re smaller than half of the locker room back in Tokyo.” Abigail flashed a sly smile, setting her hands firmly on her hips as she strolled casually towards the center of the ring. When she had heard she was fighting a guy tonight, she had been expecting someone taller and wider than this for sure. Ryo seemed just as skinny as her and… she was pretty sure he was shorter. That actually got a small giggle from her before she managed to compose herself. This was her first real match, time to be serious! “I like the gear though, you’re like a cotton candy boy or something.”

Abigail had claimed the center stage, holding a strong pose as well as position. She had a look of confidence about her that spoke to experience or naivety. In truth, it was a bit of both. While a fresh face to the wrestling scene, she had proven to be a quick study as well as a natural talent for this career path. The other end of it was her fearlessness. She didn't bat an eye at Ryo, dismissing any threat he might have been. She rolled around with lions and crawled around underneath an elephant every time she had to clean the beast. What exactly could this boy do again?

She stiffened up, stretching a bit to appear even taller as Ryo strolled up to her. Looking large and tougher than she may have been was a common tactic for animal training. You never show your weakness, that how you assert your dominance and earn their respect. She canted her head to the side at the offered hand, reaching out to it to shake it. A small shake and… oh… what was this? Abigail flashed an amused smile as Ryo gently turned over her hand and kissed it like a proper gentleman. How sweet.

The pleased smile on her face was impossible to hide. When introductions were done she slipped her hand free, tracing her fingertips along his palm until they had withdrawn completely. She gestured a small regal wave, playing along with the fantasy that they were at some private gala and she wasn't about to powerbomb him clear through the ring.

"Abi is fine… so it actually is Ryo. I was calling you Rye all this time… haha, yeah, a fun match!" Abigail slapped a clenched fist into an open palm, rolling her knuckles until they softly popped. "Let's go Cotton Candy boy. Going to show you the sweetest thing here is about to be my victory!" The second the bell rang she sprung into action, launching herself forward to lock horns with Ryo in a surge of aggression, trying to drive him back.

"Gift cards are fine," Abigail remarked with a smirk as she clamped down on Ryo, her initial surge enough to gain some found on him before the two deadlocked. She cheekily gave him a small wiggle of her eyebrows, circling with him to keep him moving and depriving a good means to shove back at her. She stepped in a bit closer, widening her foundation and lowering herself down to his height, practically letting their foreheads touch as they had a small powwow chat amidst the struggling.

"I wrestled bears." She remarked with an eerily casual sincerity as she gave her shoulder a hard roll and broke one arm free, pushing it close enough to put the two of them chest to chest. Her arm behind his neck slipped around his back while she tried to meet it with her other arm underneath his armpit to lock him into an awkward hug. With a wink and a small peck on the cheek, she would throw her weight backward, attempting to haul Ryo up off the mat and release him up over her head to toss him like a ragdoll across the ring.

As Ryo flew, Abigail landed on her back with a practiced fall Beckett had taught her, finally putting some of her wrestling training to use. Even with how hard she had whipped her body back to toss her opponent, she had landed without much harm at all. It was nice finally getting to try some of this kut against real opponents who were presumably trying to win. She rolled over onto her side, craning her head to glance back at her handiwork when posed as if about to be painted. She had a giggle at his wild flop, rolling over the rest of the way to spring to her feet with an easy hop.

What started as an easy stroll became a quickened jog as Abigail moved across the ring picking up pace. Just as she neared Ryo, the girl dropped low to glide along the mat on her boots and thigh highs to baseball slide her heel directly into his side, looking to boot him clear off the apron onto the hard floor below. If she had managed to send him sprawling, she would climb out after with a delicate drop into the ringside area and leap herself up, attempting to land across him with a cross-body splash. She'd casually turn to her side to lounge over top of him before speaking again. "You always been this easy or am I just really good?"

"Uh-huh If you say so-oh!" Abigail let out a surprised gasp as she flopped gracelessly to the ringside mat on her side, not having been prepared for Ryo to slip out from under him. She had a small laugh at it though as she started to pick herself up. She followed him with her eyes as she rose to her feet, a big smile on her face and an excited gleam in her eye. She was having a grand time, the fact Ryo was on the run made it even better. She loved to chase. "Where you going candy boy? We're not done yet."

"Two!"

Without missing a beat she charged straight for her rising opponent, moving low and fast. Just as he stood up she lunged high, attempting to throw herself into his chest to try and tackle him clear over the barricade and into the crowd along with her. This wasn't perhaps something she had thought out very well.

"Three!"
