”Booooooooooooooooooooo!”

Theo was going to have to get used to that sound, wasn’t he?

He and Willy stood in the middle of the ring, finishing out the last part of their guitar solos, stringing them out nice and crisp. Willy in particular was good today - his friend could be an idiot sometimes...okay, just about all the time, really, but the man knew his way around the strings, there was no getting around that. They had good harmony, were hitting the right notes, rarely sounded better...and none of it mattered. The crowd threw jeers their way all the same.

Theo sighed as they finished up, ending their entrance and handing off the guitars to the ring crew. He’d known they would be in for this sort of thing after their start against Mariko Ishii - if you could even call what happened with that match a ‘start’. You’d have to look long and hard to find a tag team with a worse debut, but he’d hoped the Japanese audience would give them something of a pass. It was their first match, things go wrong all the time, they could bounce back. They had the look, the talent, the music on their side. A lot of good things going for them.

But it just wasn’t enough. The crowd not only remembered what happened with that much, but they were clearly still holding a grudge about it. So the pressure was on - BlazeWave didn’t just need to win here, but they needed to win big. Decisive. Clean. Fair.

He closed his eyes and started to focus, trying to get into the right mindset, when Willy came over and spoiled that right away with a hard pat on the shoulder, enough to make him stagger forward. Theo groaned and shot a sharp glare his way, but didn’t say a thing, knowing it would just be a waste of words.

”Dude.” Willy smirked and stepped back with his thumbs up. ”You. Have go to. Calm down. You have this super serious look on your face, right now, and it’s just fucking up our whole dynamic. Chill out.”

Theo shook his head and huffed. ”I am chill. This is my ‘chill’. I’m just taking this match seriously. You know that thing we didn’t do last time, and it bit us in the ass?”

Willy, in a move that Theo could only have better predicted with clairvoyance, waved off with a literal wave of the hand and a shrug. ”Fluke. Total fluke. This’ll be nothing like last time.” He thumbed towards the back. ”I heard them talking, back there. We’re taking on some washed-up old lady and her student, bro. No big deal. Training wheels. Easy.”

Theo cocked an eyebrow and looked past his friend to the entrance, skeptical about that summary. He’d heard similar things, but hadn’t had the chance to delve too deep into research on Sucker Punch - this match had been kind of a last minute thing, trying to fill out the night’s card. As much as he wanted to be optimistic, he couldn’t help but wish he had some wood for Willy to knock on.

Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat Empty Re: Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat

Post by Yori Fri Nov 08, 2019 7:14 am

Lights in the arena came down one by one to the metallic sound of industrial shutters closing over the sound system until the entire audience and ring were bathed in darkness. One by one spotlights came up to the same loud industrial shutters sounds until they caught sight of a lone female figure at the top of the ramp, long blond hair hanging down around the shoulders of her leather jacket. The duo's theme music slowly started to build up as the second woman, hounded, came out from where they had been blocked from view by the blond.

Tag Theme:
The Urban Dragon:
Viper:

Gyuri circled the woman known as Viper, walking from one side of the ramp to the other as her partner remained motionless. The Korean girl came back center stage as the music built up faster and faster, dropping down into a crouch at Viper's feet, reaching up to tug a mask over her face with two fingers.

When the beat of the music dropped, the spotlights flashed to blacklights, shining down over the mundane duo painting Gyuri in vivid splatters of neon making her stand out to the black backdrop. Viper turned her head slightly, a pair of large one piece sunglasses straight out of the 80s on her face glowed bright pink in the light. On the back of her jacket, previously hidden from view until the blacklight hit it was the text "Baddest Bitch on the Planet" in a crude yellow paint.

The Urban Dragon brought a microphone to her mask, eyes glowing like the markings that encompassed her body and clothes as she began rapping in real time with the women's theme. They started down the ramp in unison, but while Viper had a slow steady gait, The Urban Dragon roamed each side of the ramp, playing to the crowd.

Reaching the ring, Viper opted to take the steel stairs posted at the corner while the young rapper jogged. outside of the ringside area, continuing their song as she reached out to touch the more receptive fans. The blond climbed into the ring, folding her arms as she stood tall, staring in the general direction of the two boys across from her but it was impossible to tell with the glowing shades.

The Urban Dragon slid into the ring behind the two men, trudging forward with a leading shoulder to physically shove her way through them. On her way to Viper, Theo would feel a firm clap on his backside in her passing. With a spring in her step she picked up her no into a run, bounding past Viper to climb up the turnbuckle, finishing off her live tap from the top rope before letting the actual theme play out. Gyuri turned to sit on the turnbuckle, giving the mic a small toss to staffer in the ringside area.

As the lights came back up, the women appeared to return to normal. Viper making very little show of slipping off her shades and shrugging off her jacket while Gyuri stared across at both men, unblinking. Her contacts up close made her appear to have reptilian eyes.

Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat Empty Re: Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat

Well. Theo would give Willy credit for being right about one thing, at least: he could already tell, this was going to be nothing like their last match.

The two of them looked about, confused, as the arena’s lights dropped, only to draw their eyes straight towards the ramp, and their opponent’s emerged. He hadn’t been sure what to expect with a name like ‘Sucker Punch’, but he would say this probably wouldn’t have been near the top of his guessing list - an older, built woman decked out slick biker attire, and a...rapper? Yeah, she was rapping, though he couldn’t make out quite what she was saying. Part of that had to do with him not being all that familiar with the language yet, still trying to master Japanese, but the other part of it came from her flowing so damn fast. He wasn’t exactly an expert on the musical style, but even he could hear the talent in her voice, know that not just about could fire it off that quick. As a fellow musician, she definitely had his respect, there.

And Willy’s, too, if the way he was bouncing around was any indication. ”Will you stop that?” He gave his partner an elbow in the side, putting an end to it, though not without a playful laugh as he brushed it off. He was digging the music, too, but right now he wanted Willy to focus, as the blonde, Viper, made her way into the ring. He knew the name of their opponents, but he hadn’t been able to put faces to them until just now, and he could already tell which name belonged to which woman. Not just because Gyuri was clearly the Asian one, either - something about the blonde fit the name ‘Viper’ too well. The way she was looking at them, the way she moved, the way she stood…

It wasn’t something he had long to ponder, either, as Gyuri came in behind them and brushed past, and no, he did not fail to notice the little slap on his butt as she passed. It got a surprised gasp out of him, but he managed to keep the rest of his reaction mellow, not wanting to give away too much. Mind games, don’t play them.

”Ha! Man, that was slick.” Willy chuckled as the lights came back on and the crowd cheered, clearly impressed and rightly so. Still bouncing, he looked between their opponent with a cocky grin, loving what he saw, and turned to whisper Theo’s way. ”I call dibs on the MILF.”

That drew a quick groan from Theo and another elbow in the side, this one sharp enough to hurt a little, though it only made Willy grin even wider. ”Dude, she’s like, ten years older than us, tops. Knock it off.” He shook his head and looked back to Sucker Punch, stepping forward with a long sigh. ”I’ll start us off. Just hang back and pay attention.”

Willy shrugged, but went along with it, stepping back to the corner as Theo tossed his jacket off and let it hang on the corner ropes. He started to limber up in the middle of the ring, bouncing on his heels as her looked between them. ”All right, let’s get started.” He rolled his neck from side to side, getting out any lingering kinks. ”Who’s going first?”

Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat Empty Re: Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat

"그들에게 지옥을 줘." Gyuri snickered softly, hopping down off the turnbuckle as she started to climb through the ropes before she felt a firm hand on her shoulder. She glanced up at Viper who was shaking her head.

"I don't think so princess. You're in first." She pulled the young woman upright with no more effort than it would take to pick up a child before slipping past her partner to duck below the ropes. The blond draped her jacket across the corner post, looking to Gyuri who was still staring at her. She gave the girl a small shooing gesture towards the team across the way. "Match isn't winning itself."

"똥... 그래 그래" Gyuri straightened up, turning to stare down Theo as she left the corner. She stalked with heavy steps, leaning in with bad posture, all the makings of a thug in training as she closed in distance until the two stood opposite each other. Fanning her hands out to the side, she put herself on display in a wireless gesture to signify she would be starting things off.

She reached up, gripping the edge of her hat brim to tug it to sit on a lopsided angle  The Urban Dragon took a half step back, body bobbing lightly as she fell into a loose fighting stance, a state of constant motion as she rose and fell on the balls of her feet. At the sound of the bell, she threw out a hand, turning it over to gesture Theo to bring it on.

"흰 개를 가자!" She smirked beneath her mask, waiting for him to start towards her. She wouldn't give him the chance to make the opening move though, despite calling for him to. The second he started to move, she would bum rush him, throwing a shoulder out at his chest to slam into him. If she landed the simple strike, Gyuri would thrust out both her arms, just trying to shove him to the mat with a simple show of strength. "빠르고 바보 같이 생각하십시오!"

Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat Empty Re: Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat

Post by acuyra Fri Nov 08, 2019 5:53 pm

Right away, Theo was learning some interesting things about Sucker Punch.

Gyuri wasn’t Japanese. While, again, he was no master of the language, he spoke it well enough to know Gyuri wasn’t speaking it. He didn’t recognize a single word, and he wasn’t nearly familiar enough with the region to even hazard a guess where she could be from, especially when she wore a mask. But the dialect did sound kind of familiar. Something he’d heard on the news, maybe. Vietnamese? Korean? Loas?

More interesting than that, though, was how she was using the language. Viper was talking to her in English, so she could probably understand it, so she could probably speak it...if she wanted to. And she didn’t want to. Or wasn’t choosing to. It meant that she could say things to Viper that he and Willy couldn’t understand, which could be a problem if exploited. A big problem, actually.

Something to look out for, definitely. She looked ready, too, as she came to meet him in the ring and squared up. More than a little eager to kick this off himself, he came over to meet her…

...and promptly got dumped on his butt.

She rammed her shoulder into his chest, which wouldn’t have been that bad all by itself. But the hard shove she followed it up with was enough to lay him out flat on his back, forcing him to stare up at the ceiling far earlier than he’d intended. More intel gathered: she was fast. Really, really fast. Stronger than she looked, too.

But so was he. ”Ooooooooookay.”

The crowd had just started to laugh when Theo kicked his legs straight up and rose to his feet with a quick kip up, barely missing a beat. The second his feet touched the mat, he mirrored her own move and rammed his shoulder into her chest, followed by the same rough push - hopefully with the same outcome.

Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat Empty Re: Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat

Gyuri bowled Theo over, taking a few unstable steps forward to keep her balance, cockily playing it off as nothing once he was on the mat. She threw up her arms, turning to face the crowd with a shout. "너무 쉽다!" She was laughing, showing off to the audience as she made a quick rotation to look back to each side of the ring. When she had turned back to Theo though, he caught sight of her wide eyed surprise as he charged her down.

She toppled backwards, being knocked over likely easier than he had been for her to do the same. The difference here was she turned the backwards momentum into a roll, immediately popping back up to her feet. She let out a heavy huff which made her mask briefly flutter.

"수탕나귀." She hissed, upnodded harshly in his direction with narrowed eyes. She slowly started to circle her blond adversary, clear a bit more wary of him now after he showed a bit of spine. She paused briefly, making sure not to walk around too far that she would cut herself off from her own corner by passing to Blazewave's side of the ring.

Her arms came up, looking as if she were ready to give grappling a chance… inching in little by little. Before either of them could lock up, her leg snapped up, tucking in close before firing off to try and catch Them in the hip with a push kick towards the ropes. If he went back, she would follow after, trying to jam her forearm up against his chin to pin him to the ropes while taking hard swings at his abdomen with her free clenched fist.

Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat Empty Re: Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat

Post by acuyra Fri Nov 08, 2019 7:17 pm

Theo wasn’t about to spend any time showboating after landing that move - if he’d learned one thing from that last match, it was the value of seizing opportunities. Gyuri hit the ground and he started to chase after her, ready to pounce and pin her, but she turned out to be quite quick on the rebound, instantly rising to her feet and robbing him of the opportunity. Instead, he hung back with his fists cocked and ready, taking on his MMA stance as she circled him.

"흰 개를 가자!" He had absolutely no idea what those words meant or if he said them right, but he guessed they were some kind of insult or taunt, so it felt right to throw back her way, maybe get under her skin. Not that doing so would be easy. Gyuri was clearly pretty smart, and he could tell that just from the way she was looking at him and moving. Taking care to mind the ring, not get too far from her partner, even as they faced off. Getting closer, moving in, closer, watch out now, almost there…

Theo had moved in for the grapple, knowing full well that she’d likely try something tricky. Despite looking out for it, though, she still managed to tag him with that kick, packing a surprising punch for the speed she threw it with. It had enough force to push him to the ropes, and she was on him before he could even think about getting away, slamming her forearm into his chin and unloading on his ribs.

She wasn’t the hardest hitter he’d ever met, but she was fast, and all that pain was adding up quick. The referee was already moving in to break them up, but Theo wasn’t about to wait. Knowing he needed to make some space and counter attack, he reached down, lurched forward and gave her a hard shove forward, trying to get some distance between them. He doubted she would let that gap stay open for too long, but that was fine, since he had every intention of closing it, as well. He took a step in with his arms up, looking to catch her in a clinch and lay into her stomach with a hard knee, trying to drive her back towards the center and take control.

Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat Empty Re: Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat

Post by Yori Fri Nov 08, 2019 7:45 pm

Her assault on Theo's ribs seemed more prison shanking tactics than wrestling know-how, but she wasn't terribly concerned about how it looked. Things like these were about making a statement so shoving her counterpart around and making him take whatever she was giving him was a show of dominance. She ignores the yapping of the referee, knowing she had plenty of time to hammer away at the blond boy even then the count started.

To her surprise he managed to shove her back, the difference in their weight was pretty evident now if it hadn't been before. She didn't in me to let up though, her sneaker squealing along the canvas as it slipped back, preparing to unload into her ballet foe…

Who wasn't hapless at all. He came straight at her. She held the kick wanting to make sure she could get a good shot at him this time. A miscalculation, as she let her leg fly it cracked at the blond's shoulder, he had closed in on her too fast and had already paid hands on her. She tried to pull back but in her unbalanced state, mid kick, he found it easy to plant a knee right into her guts.

Gyuri's body buckled with the impact, letting out a pained grunt as her feet both fumbled on the mat, staggering backwards. She clutched an arm close over her stomach, nursing her new wound as she backed away, an arm raised and outstretched towards Them as she tried to retreat, using it as a buffer to try and halt further attack.

Viper stood quietly on the apron, unmoved by the performance this far. Aside from the occasional glance to the audience on either side of her, she seemed to play a role of a statue rather well. No cheers for her partner, no words of warning of advice. She just watched with stone faced indifference as if she had no real stake in this match.

Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat Empty Re: Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat

Post by acuyra Fri Nov 08, 2019 8:01 pm

Viper was good at staying quiet, but that was a talent Willy never mastered. Not counting sleep, he probably hadn’t gone two minutes without talking since he learned how to do it, and this probably wouldn’t be the day to end that streak. ”Whew!” He called out, cheering Theo on as he mounted some offense, and pointed towards the silent Viper. ”Hey, Biker Babe Barbie? Your girlfriend’s having a little trouble in there, want to switch places?”

Theo didn’t need the cheering - not like that, anyway - but Willy wasn’t wrong, he was in a good position with Gyuri. The blow had her reeling, and unlike the shove, it didn’t seem like she was able to recover quick from that blow. They were both fast, but when it came to stamina, he was willing to bet he had the edge of her. Something he fully intended to take advantage of.

”Gotcha.” He reached out and snagged Gyuri’s outstretched hand, getting a tight grip with both hands. He yanked back hard, put his weight into it, and sent her off towards the ropes with an Irish Whip, launching her towards the side of the ring.

He wouldn’t leave her alone for long, though. The moment she was off, Theo ran behind, staying a few steps behind. Anticipating that she’d bounce off and come running back, he leaped up and shot his legs out with a dropkick towards where he expected her chest to be, hoping it would knock her off her feet and maybe out of the ring.

Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat Empty Re: Sucker Punch vs. BlazeWave - Can't Stop The Beat

Post by Yori Fri Nov 08, 2019 10:36 pm

Viper's eyes drifted to Willy as he called out to her, lingering in an uncomfortable stare. The comment didn't seem to get a rise out of her, barely even seemed to reach her before she looked back to the action at hand.

Gyuri was sweating under her breath in Korean, her outstretched hand making for an easy target for Theo to grab hold of. She clearly didn't want to go with him, putting up resistance to his pull, but at the risk of being face planted she gave in and pedaled her legs forward. She could hear him dead on her tracks, but didn't want to slow down and give him reason to take her from behind.

Rather than hit the ropes on her back, she held her hands out, grasping hold of the ropes as she neared, vaulting up and over the top rope to swing herself onto the apron. Looking back into the ring, an arm cocked and ready to strike at Theo! She found him instead shifting a dropkick, far from her range. Shit.

She blinked, glancing down the apron to where Willy was standing. Like running along a tightrope she skirted the ring with her arm already reared back seemingly primed to punch Willy. She stopped short abruptly, a fake out, as she sent out her leg to drill the other member Blazewave in the stomach with a swing kick while he wasn't expecting it.

She needed him bent over, that was the plan at least. If she had managed to do that, she was ready to fly. Taking a step back, she hopped up onto the middle rope, bouncing once, twice, before jumping off the ropes, turning her back to Willy in mid air. Her legs tucked in, balling up in kid air until she began to drop. Gyuri's legs snapped out, trying to hammer the non legal man of Blazewave hard enough to knock him off the apron while simultaneously using him as a springboard to send her up and over the ropes back into the ring. She twisted in the air, trying to come down hard across the recovering Theo with a senton that no doubt hurt her pretty bad as well.
