Avery Shields vs. Blossom Fields - Rookie Showdown!

Blossom's impact was shockingly flawless and unmistakably brutal. It was one thing to utilize the takedown in practice, but it was something else completely to see the move actually applied in a real match. As the brunette's body crumpled to the mat, Ave finally unclasped her legs from their punishing hold. Sitting up along the mat beside her opponent, the wide-eyed redhead found herself bombarded by a wave of emotions as the crowd continued to roar and the flash of the cameras became a dazzling array. It was obvious that the young girl was struck by the sheer awe of electrifying moment. Really, could she have even asked for a more perfect moment then this?

Don't just sit there! Pin her, you idiot!

The thought seemed to jar Avery back to reality. She hadn't won yet, she needed to get the pin! Scrambling frantically to crawl over Blossom, the tattooed girl quickly mounted her opponents chest before placing both of her hands to press and force Blossom's shoulders down against the mat. It was a very spontaneous attempt at a pin, but Avery didn't want to risk taking her eyes off Blossom even for a moment as she peered anxiously down at the girl's clearly pained expression.

"ONE!..."

Relax, Ave. Just look at her, there's no way in hell she's getting back up after that!...  

The thought was reassuring. Avery had felt just how hard Blossom had been hammered against mat, after all. However, there was simply no way for the redhead to allow herself to be sure of anything in a nerve-racking moment like this. Part of her expected the stubborn brunette to bounce back to life at any moment to hurl her from the pin. All of her triumphant would be washed away in a blink of an eye...

Blossom groaned as her head throbbed with a pulsating headache. She was going to have a long, intimate night with a bottle of Aspirin and a couple of MST3000 DVDs.

It took her a little longer than Blossom would have guessed and she didn't do it the way she expected, but Ave came in for the pin soon enough, taking her spot right on Blossom's chest. Her perch offered a perfect view of the body that had conquered her, this fierce redheaded warrioress. Their sweaty bodies slid against each other, their heat mingled, every weak breath made Ave rise along with it.

Yeah. She was blushing. Again.

"Two...!"

What had gone wrong? Sure, she'd probably flirted a little too much, but that wasn't the big factor. Ave was just good. That was all there was to it. She'd come a long way, but she still had a long way to go, and this was going to be another learning experience. That was the healthiest way to look at it.

"Three...!"

It was a little hard to do a proper smile with all the pain and having a wrestler on her chest, but Blossom squeezed out a grin as the bell rang. "Congrats."

Avery's heart thumped in her chest, her mounting excitement had grown almost unbearable, but there was no mistaking the resounding three count even with the crowd's roaring enthusiasm. Avery's overwhelming exhilaration was obvious as Blossom offered her congratulations. It was a very gracious gesture, Ave knew she had to return the sentiment...

Yet, unable to contain herself a moment longer, the tattooed tomboy suddenly bounded up and off of Blossom's chest. With a buzz of newly found energy, Ave practically bounced across the ring as she leapt and tossed her hands into the air. The nineteen-year-old was swept away by pure jubilation.

"Ohmygodyes! Yes! Woooooo!"

This was the sensation Avery lived for! It was her first match and her first win. How sweet was that!? The elated redhead beamed cutely for the crowd as they joined in on her celebration.

Having released the floodgates on her emotions, Avery finally felt some measure of composure returning to her. The tomboy's brown eyes flicked back to Blossom whom undoubtedly just watched her practically prance around the ring like some kind of self-indulgent jackass--she just couldn't help it! Regardless, Ave offered the girl a friendly, if slightly sheepish, smile, "... Hey, great match! Let's do it again sometime?"

Here Blossom was, in a position that was rapidly becoming all too familiar. Laying on her back staying up at the ceiling while the bell rang and the lights burned in her eyes. She was starting to get disturbingly, annoyingly used to this sort of thing, and she wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

...actually, scratch that. It was a bad thing. For sure.

Shake it off, Blossom. Just shake it off. Maybe next time...

SNAFU's aside, they'd wrestled a good match, and the crowd definitely seemed pleased from the way they were clapping.  She'd made them happy, or been a big part of it. So even if she didn't succeed all that well in the first part of 'sports entertainment', she'd done her job in the latter. A small victory, but she'd take it.

She sat up and watched Ave do her victory lap, trying hard to feel good for the girl who won her first match and seemed to have the audience's adoration. Blossom even clapped along herself, and by the time Ave was done, her smile was mostly back.

"I'd love to." Blossom nodded as she grabbed the rope and started to pull herself up. "After I get in a little more training, though. Just to be on the safe side."

"Well, if you're ever short a sparring partner, I'm your girl. Sound good?"  

The sight of Blossom attempting to rely on the ropes to get back to her feet was enough to spur the redhead graciously into action. Avery quickly, if tentatively, offered Blossom her hand to help the brunette to her feet, "Here." It was a simple fact that no one liked to lose, even if the affable girl seemed to be taking it all in stride on the surface. Avery's initial excitement had been overwhelming, but that was no excuse to not give Blossom the respect she had earned. The fight had been exactly the kind of challenge Ave had hoped to encounter within the AFW; Blossom had been a formidable and exciting opponent right down to the end. She had even offered Avery a few rather unexpected surprises. In truth, Avery would have been genuinely shocked when she did learn of Blossom's particularly miserable streak of losses. That, perhaps, would have to be a tale for another day, however.

The tattooed youth further encouraged Blossom with a cheerful wink.

Blossom was a little surprised that Ave offered her the hand. Not because she thought she wasn't the sort of person to do that, it just wasn't something she'd gotten used to in the AFW. People could be nasty. There were people who seemed to just get their kicks out of annihilating anyone and everyone they could get their hands on.

But Ave was different. Ave was better. And, even with the loss and all the pain she'd be sleeping off for a week, she was happy they met.

She took the hand and stood up, returning the wink that came along with it. "Sounds great." She moved a few sweaty hairs away from her face. "I'm ah, I'm sorry for the  whole..." She made a little kiss-kissy pucker with her lips.

Ave momentarily flustered at Blossom's kissy face. "Don't sweat it, we're cool," the redhead seemed to brush aside her embarrassment with a shrug and a smile, though her flushed, freckled, cheeks betrayed her otherwise confident swagger. The teenager gave one last cheerful wave to the crowd before moving to the ropes and slipping out of the ring, "See you around, later!" Avery offered the words as an energetic farewell. The exuberant youth wouldn't wait for a reply, however. Instead, she bounced her way down the entry ramp before exiting the arena--obviously still excited over her first win.

No doubt, Blossom was sure to follow at her own pace.
