Summer Splash had ended two days earlier. Janet, who in the ring was known as Lady Lakota, had not participated in the annual pay-per-view event. Not this time around. She was there instead to support her lover Azami, who had fought for the hentai title and, to Janet’s delight—but not to her surprise, as she had had the utmost confidence in her lover—Azami had come out of her match on top! The night and day after had been lovely, with plenty of play wrestling and sexy times between the two champions to celebrate Azami’s acquisition of her belt. Janet purred and smiled as she thought of all of them.

But now, Azami was on a press junket, answering questions, taking promotional photographs with her belt, and all of that. Janet remembered doing something similar when she had first won her Entropy title belt. She had let Azami go off on her own to enjoy her day in the limelight, and suddenly, Janet found herself completely free, with nothing pressing to do and a whole five-star beachfront resort in front of her. The spa, the casino, the world-class restaurants…all were tempting, but Janet couldn’t resist the siren song of the resort’s most famous amenity: the white sand beach.

Janet strutted along the sand, wearing a little purple bikini which showed off quite a bit of skin. She had her sunglasses on, a beach towel in one hand, and a cold, sweating bottle of grape soda in the other. She was going to find a nice spot and stake her claim to it, soak up some of the sun’s rays, and enjoy a little time in the surf.

by Old_Man_Tai on Sun Oct 05, 2014 4:40 pm

Sitting on the beach, knees pulled up to her chest, arms around her knees, Silver Ace sighed aloud, looking out at the clear blue day and the bright sun, happy peaople playing in the waves, while all she could do was feel sad.

Summer Splash had been a disaster. She failed to perform in the match, had lost the match for her team, and had fought and broken up with Valley all in the same night. Since then, rather than going back to Japan, Ace had stayed in America a few extra days, not sure if she even wanted to go back, not after that performance.

Trying to make herself feel better, she decided to go to the beach, hoping the change in scenery and some time in the sun and sand might help lift her spirits...but so far it hadn't, Ace still feeling bad. If anything the only change was irritation at the guys on the beach casting lewd looks her way, Ace having worn a blue one piece swimsuit, that fit nice and tight against her slim body.

by Daaharu on Sun Oct 05, 2014 8:25 pm

Janet had barely seen Azami the day of Summer Splash. She wished the blue-haired beauty luck when she left their hotel room in the morning, and then didn’t get a chance to talk with her again until after she had won the hentai title. Janet had spent those long hours taking in the other matches which led up to Azami’s title shot.

Far from the least exciting among those had been the tag match between Lu Jiao Jocelyn and Allison Watson on the one side and Silver Ace and Valley Doll on the other. Janet had not been very familiar with any of the wrestlers before the match, but the exciting contest had succeeded in piquing her interest. She was certain to remember their faces the next time she came across one of them and, as it turned out, that would be quite a bit sooner than she had anticipated.

There didn’t seem to be too many AFW wrestlers out on the beach today. At least, there weren’t many right now. But there was Janet, and, as she kept walking up the beach, she would find at least one other. One who was none too happy, by the looks of it. It was understandable—as Janet knew, Silver Ace’s team had lost the match. But she thought that maybe something else was bothering the girl.

Well, obviously, that was none of her business. But Janet could still say hello and maybe try to cheer the girl up a little without prying into whatever was eating at her.

“I thought all the other wrestlers might have left already. I haven’t seen too many today,” she would say, smiling and gesturing amiably with her soda bottle to Ace.

by Old_Man_Tai on Mon Oct 06, 2014 4:08 am

"Hmm? Oh...uh, yeah, I think most of them went back to Japan already..."

Ace said as she looked up at whoever was talking to her, blinking as she thought she recognized the girl.

"Umm...Your...Lakota right? The Entropy Champion?"

She asked, curious as to why one of AFW's champions was just hanging out on the beach in American days after a PPV she wasn't booked on ended.

by Daaharu on Mon Oct 06, 2014 3:02 pm

“It’s kind of silly, you know,” Janet would say. “Going back to Japan right after Summer Splash is over, I mean. They don’t expect anyone to get back in the ring for a week or two at least after this. Sure, there’s jet lag to consider, but why not spend an extra day or two relaxing and enjoying the beach rather than going right back to Tokyo and slipping back into life like nothing even happened?” She shrugged.

The light-haired girl looked up at Janet, and the Native American wrestler smiled a little wider, showing her white teeth. Silver Ace knew who she was, evidently. She was probably wondering what Janet was doing here, too, since she hadn’t been fighting in Summer Splash this year. “That’s right, that’s right. Lady Lakota in the ring. I just go by Janet usually, though. I was just here to have fun. And to support my girlfriend Azami—she was in the main event hentai title match.”

by Old_Man_Tai on Mon Oct 06, 2014 4:01 pm

"Ah. That explains it then....AFW pays its champions way, but the rest of us only had hotel rooms booked for Summer splash. I've been paying for my own room the last couple days."

Ace replied, grumbling a little about that.

"Your girlfriend huh? I heard she won last night...congrats for her...just wish I could say the same thing about me and my girlfriend...well...Ex girlfriend now..."

She sighed again, looking out onto the surf.

by Daaharu on Mon Oct 06, 2014 4:40 pm

“Really?” Janet asked, raising an eyebrow. She was a little surprised that AFW wouldn’t cover a couple days of room fees after the event for its wrestlers. It hadn’t been an issue for her when she wanted to get her and Azami’s stay extended by a few days. She had assumed it was the same for all of the girls here. The fact that it wasn’t didn’t sit too well with her.

That wasn’t very important right now, though. The conversation was moving in a different direction. “Thank you. I’ll convey your congratulations to her,” the Native American girl replied. Her smile would fade a little, though, as Ace mentioned her own match. The ending to that one had certainly been disappointing. Janet hadn’t been too familiar with either team, but there was something distasteful about the team which Ace and Valley faced off against. Janet had been rooting for the silver-haired girl.

“I was sorry to see you lose. I was pulling for you,” Janet said, trying to find something to say. She knew that, as a stranger, she couldn’t do a very good job of cheering Ace up, but she could at least try. When she heard what had happened after the match, though, Janet wasn’t quite sure how to proceed from there.

“I’m…I’m really sorry. It’s happened to me before. That…it sucks. It really does,” Janet would say.

by Old_Man_Tai on Mon Oct 06, 2014 10:04 pm

"Hmm. Thanks...It's just a thing."

She replied, not sure what to say about it, one hand making depressed circles in the sand. She had nothing against the girl, just felt awkward.

by Daaharu on Tue Oct 07, 2014 12:11 am

Janet wasn’t quite sure how to help her fellow wrestler. She didn’t know if she could help her. Ace was giving her very little to go off of in terms of what she wanted Janet to do—the Lakota couldn’t quite tell if the silver-haired girl wanted to be left alone or wanted some company during what was obviously a hard time for her. Ace herself might not even know. When Janet had gone through breakups in the past, she had felt that surge of powerful, conflicting emotions that made her uncertain how to act towards others.

“…I hear ya.” Janet figured that simple response was the best she could do. Slowly, she would lower herself down onto the sand, sitting a couple of feet away from Ace. She didn’t want to intrude on the girl’s personal space, but she still figured that she might need some company. Janet held out her grape soda bottle. “Do you want some? It’s good. Cold. I promise I’m not sick or anything, so it should be fine for you to drink it.”

Ace looked back at Janet and reached out, taking the soda and offering Janet a small smile before taking a sip, the cool drink tasting refreshing in the hot sun.

"Thanks..."

She said, handing the drink back and patting the sand next to her, offering Janet to sit. Even if she didn't, Ace would sigh again before speaking.

"...Sorry if I'm off putting...Just...It's tough...finding out someone you cared about only really saw you as a...pet project...sort of thing..."

Janet was glad that the other wrestler took a sip of her drink. It seemed as if Ace had been sitting out here for a long time. No towel, no drink. She might not have even had any sunscreen on, depending on just how despondent she was. She needed a little bit of a pick-me-up, or at least something to keep her from drying out and burning up.

When the seat on the sand was offered, Janet would readily sit down beside Ace, staying close but giving the silver-haired wrestler a little bit of space, not wanting to seem as if she were invading Ace’s personal space.

“I…understand. That sort of thing sucks. A lot of people can be pretty crappy, you know,” Janet would reply, shrugging and taking another sip of her soda. “I don’t really want to pry and ask what happened or anything, but I guess I’m sort of surprised, since at the end of your match you guys didn’t seem…” She shrugged again. She didn’t really want to get too detailed in her evaluation of Ace’s personal life, since she was really a stranger and all. But she remembered how Ace and Valley had left arm in arm after their match, and couldn’t help but wonder what happened next.

"We just argued. She kept insisting I needed to be....protected..kept back That I needed to....learn my place and let her handle things....just ridiculous. I don't need to be protected, like I'm some little pet."

She said, tossing some sand in front of her. It still felt very odd, talking to a virtual stranger about this stuff....but it was kinda nice to vent a bit.

Janet liked to try to help people with their problems. She always tried to present herself as someone who could be spoken to openly, and she was glad that Ace seemed to feel comfortable enough with her that she would open up a bit about what happened. As far as Janet could tell, the split seemed to have been caused by nothing but good intentions. Valley wanted to protect Ace and keep her safe. Ace chafed at being treated as if she was not capable of taking care of herself, as if she were a child.

It wasn’t a very pleasant way to split up, and it sounded utterly heartbreaking to a stranger like Janet. She had never gone through anything quite like that, though she did go through many a breakup during her younger years. “It makes sense. You are an adult, after all, and an experienced wrestler…”

She shrugged and sighed, not quite knowing what to say next. She decided to pull back and let Ace direct the conversation from this point.

"Yeah. I mean, I'm not as experienced as Valley, but I'm not just some wet nosed rookie either. I mean hell, I beat Valley! But....ugh....she says it "wasn't serious" and "just foreplay." So, you know, that's great right? Telling me the only real win I've gotten since coming to AFW was just her playing around, like she could have beaten me whenever she wanted..."

Ace stopped and took a breath, calming herself. She wasn't mad at Janet, after all, just mad at the situation. It was strange, she knew nothing about Janet, they had never met before, and not only was the girl willing to listen to her, but Ace was actually spilling her guts out as well. It just felt nice, she admitted, to have somebody just listening.

"I'm just....things have been rough this last year...I did really good against Iron Maiden and Taylor...but since then its all gone to hell. Akashi kicked my ass, Nikolette kicked my ass, Jocelyn kicked my ass twice...I feel like I failed before I ever really started...."

“That’s…yeah, that’s a pretty shitty thing to say,” Janet agreed, when Ace explained a little bit more about what had happened. While Janet didn’t know the context, she couldn’t help but picture the way Valley must have said it, and the scene which played in her head was none too flattering for Valley. Janet could only sympathize with Ace here, as those words only made Valley seem like a sore loser. If Janet heard the other woman’s testimony, maybe she would think differently. But right now, she doubted it. The Lakota girl had always been rather empathetic.

“I wouldn’t worry about your record. Honestly, I wouldn’t,” Janet said. “Even if you lost, I’m sure you’ve put up a hell of a fight in every match. And hearing who you’ve fought so far—well, it sounds to me like you’ve pretty much had a gauntlet of some of the nastiest, most skilled fighters in the league lining up to fight you ever since you first walked into that arena.”

She turned her head so that she could look a little more directly at Ace. “I don’t think I could have won very many of those fights that you lost, and, I mean, I’m the Entropy champion…I think you need to give yourself a little more credit, you know?” She smiled reassuringly at Ace, hoping that this advice wasn’t too strange when it came from a complete stranger.

Ace blushed a little, offering a small smile to the champion sitting next to her.

"T-Thanks....I appreciate that."

She said, stretching her legs out.

"I really appreciate it...I guess I hadn't been seeing it that way. I mean...thinking about it, I came in fighting against some of the biggest and best possible...."

She said, starting to feel a little less bad about those losses. After all, she had improved even since then, and if the Entropy Champion was telling her to be proud of herself, then she should take her advice.

Janet was glad that her advice seemed to be picking Ace up a little. The silver-haired girl had seemed pretty down. Obviously, going through a breakup was hard, and Janet couldn’t really ease that pain for her fellow AFW wrestler, but there was no reason for Ace to pile on concerns and fears about her wrestling ability!

“You’re welcome,” Janet said, smiling a little wider. She would stretch her legs out, too. “I tell you, I would be really anxious fighting some of the girls you’ve fought. Akashi, for one. Nikolette, for another—she and I actually hang out sometimes, but we’ve never fought, and I’m damn glad about that. There’s no shame in losing to girls like those. Heck, there’s really no shame in losing to anyone—this is a high-powered league.”

Janet would hold out her soda bottle again, offering Ace another sip.

Ace accepted, taking another drink before handing it back.

"Yeah, your right about that....everybody here has talent. It's certainly the toughest league I've ever fought ink, and I've fought in several. Nikolette seems nice....but she knocked me pretty early, I never really had a chance to meet her."

Ace looked at the sun, trying to guess the time from its position before giving up and looking at her cell phone to check it instead.

"...I'll uh...be going back to Japan tomorrow. I can't afford to stay in this hotel longer than I have, and Valley had all our american cash, I've just been using what I was able to exchange out of yen."

She sighed, standing up and stretching, her tight suit showing off her lithe body as she looked at Lakota.

"Listen uh....thank you. I really needed a boost...I'll bounce back, I'm sure...who knows, maybe when I do, I'll end up facing you for that belt of yours, eh champ?"

She said, giggling a little.
