Jean Grey vs Reika Hasegawa

The pain quickly became unbearable as Reika's ankle throbbed with agony. She gritted her teeth, sweat streaming down her face as Jean worked her over. She was conscious of how the crowd must be eating this up, of how she was completely at this stupid redhead's mercy.

It can't end this way. I won't let it end this way, not now!

But as Jean wrenched the hold tighter, sharp reality came lancing home along with the pain that coursed up her spine. She slapped at the mat, signalling her submission, all the while keeping her teeth clenched. She might be submitting, but she was not going to give this redhead the satisfaction of hearing her cry out in pain.

Jean looked back with a smile as she heard reika slap the mat. She would let the hold linger a bit before finally letting go and throwing a fist up into the air and celebrating with crowd.

As Jean got off of her, Reika lay facedown on the mat, breathing heavily. The pressure on her ankle and back had eased considerably, but her ankle was still a throbbing mass of pain. Even then, the agony was eclipsed briefly by the sound of the crowd cheering the victorious redhead, and she grimaced where she lay.

Eat up their applause for now, redhead, she thought bitterly. You only got lucky this time.
