The Stranger...

Okay so as some of you may or may not know/care I am trying to put together a well-thought-out character. I've currently got all but one personality down and could use some help on that one. Just some background...she will be deemed by others, not herself, as being multi-personalitied, which only will show itself depending on the mask...what I've currently got is:

Facepaint: The true Stranger, Luchadora/high-risk
Satin: Sensual, very hentai/humiliation oriented, sexy personality.
Steel: Hardcore and powerful, but unemotional.
Leather: Dominatrix-like, relentless, angry.

the material I'm struggling with is Silk only because the only association I can think of is similar to Satin with a strong association to class..but that just doesn't seem very different to me. Any ideas? Also I look to be adding masks and personalities over time, so feel free to throw out suggestions. I'm also going to post the profile with the openess of critiquing before officially posting her to the roster. Thankies and for those of you looking forward to

If Silk is too much like Satin, why not just get rid of the silk mask completely?

Well the lyrics in the song are:

"...Some are Satin, Some are Steel, Some are Silk, and Some are Leather..."

So I kinda wanna try and keep those 4 masks if I can..plus I like a challenge ^^'

I would think the leather mask would be the luchadora. Being leather doesn't have to mean that it's a bdsm thing.

Personality-wise, satin is more showy, sort of flirtatious or exhibitionist. It's shiny and flows and makes thing look pretty but isn't necessarily itself very strong.

Silk I see as more for the benefit of the wearer... it's harder to care for, and it's super strong, sort of self-indulgent. If I were you I'd do the following:

Satin - Hentai Kawaii what have you, a flirtatious face
Steel - Hardcore, a cold, violent heel.
Silk - Self-absorbed sadistic pseudo dom, heel.
Leather - Lucha mysterioso! A face

I'd be wary to take a match against someone with a steel mask... that'd be weird.

Well, when I think "silk", I get that idea of "purity" or "innocence". So perhaps the silk mask could mean a simple and noble personality. Maybe that of a honest martial artist that prefers straightforward attacks and avoids underhanded tactics?

This is going to be a quite colorful character, by the way.

hmmm...all of these are good ideas...I especially like the idea of making the Leather mask into more of a Luchadora mysterioso-type than a dom...I tried to make a dom char (see Cornelia) and I just didn't really like her....so that definitely helps there. Thank you Bluemouse <img src=

And as for the Steel mask...it's more of the design than the actual material...although there will be steel > Smile

The silk as a more noble personality appeals to me quite a bit...it definitely re-sparks some ideas for me..Gracias Toshokan

I have a little question, though. Is she going to bring all her masks to the ring and switch between them as she fights, or use only one per match?

From personal expereince, the leather mask is indeed highly associated with the Bondage and Domimation culture. But the mask is for the submissives and is meant to be demeaning/hide the identity of the slave to protect his image from society. I know this to be certain.
The BDSM mask is meant to remove oneself from the real world, making it easier for the slave to allow themselves to be "broken" by the superior. It traces back to the medieval times but I dont feel like going into it. Mainly because I'm......at work. <img src=

If your character is a domme in nature, then wearing a mask makes zero sense.

Iffy, you reveal just another of your many facets. You're a platypus.

Also, as pointed out by people, while silk could be self indulgent and aloof, it is also strong, elegant, and noble. It flows, it's flexible, but it's very difficult to break. Interesting. Also, it was used in part as armor in whatever part of the world (ya know, the 'not-the-states' part).

Which I suppose going with my first post, you could reverse the places with satin and silk, and use satin as being showy, shallow, and selfish.

Also, I've though to bring up how bizarre this whole thing is, but that would bring up the oddness of so much else here... within the AFW context it's not weird at all.
