Happy Endings Aren't For Everyone

And in that moment, the Italian's emotions came to fully bare; her eyes finally letting loose a river of tears as her head fell to Carmen's, a feat made easy by the uneasy and close proximity of the two. Her arms quickly embraced her lovers own as she began to unleash her troubles and concerns; how she was simply afraid of how she began to feel for a woman she at first believed would be nothing more than a passing hobby.

At least, that's how events should of transpired.

Instead, Diana's response was much simpler, and shorter, as her hand came up to brush back a lock of her thick main, intent on giving the greatest impression she could that she simply wasn't interested. It was almost a blessing that Diana's face was a mess in thanks to Carmen's brother, otherwise her act would of been completely given away by the tears almost fighting to make their way down her cheek. A fight that became all the more intense for Diana's emotions as she forced herself to give her reply.

"Whatever."

A short snappy reply given in a lazy tone, by a woman who was quick to turn her back to Carmen and make for the door pointed out to her. Each step felt like a mile to the woman who was now fighting yet another intense battle; one to simply not break down and cry there and then.

‘Whatever’.

And just like that, it was over.

Carmen stared and watched Diana walk out, her brain still processing the fact that this whole thing was actually happening like this. It was beyond surreal. True, she and Diana weren’t exactly a solid couple, Carmen was under no delusions that rings would be exchanged or anything like that.

But they were friends, at least. Friends with excellent benefits. Close, or starting to be. And then...just like that...it was over.

When Diana was gone, Carmen didn’t cry. She didn’t scream. She didn’t do much of anything, really, not for a while after this.

She simply sat down, closed her eyes, leaned back, and tried to figure out what just happened, and why it was probably her fault.
