The random brainteaser and riddle thread.

Cuz everyone knows that this forum is a gathering of the finest minds this side of the Internet.

I'll start, cuz dibs and whatnot.

You go to the beach, and you start shoveling sand into your bucket, cuz that's what you do at the beach for some reason. You dig up a weird bottle, and out pops a genie. But this genie is a bit of an asshole and won't give you three wishes. Instead, he says that he knows exactly how much sand is in your bucket at any given time.

You ask him to prove it, cuz you're a bit ticked off at not getting the three wishes. He says he's not allowed to tell you the number of grains of sand in the bucket, but he definitely knows. How do you prove/disprove that this genie isn't full of shit?

Short version: You have a bucket with an unknown number of things, guy says he can tell you how much there is in there at a glance, but won't tell you exactly how much there is cuz he's a fucker. Figure out a way to test this fucker. He'll answer any question that doesn't let you know the actual number. (i.e., asking him if there's more than 100 grains of sand is okay, but asking him what half the number of sand particles is not)
