[quote="Alexandra":32abcg30]Maybe I'm missing what you're trying to get at, but we have feuds here that last for months and lots of matches too. O.o;
Yeah, I'm running on little sleep and I guess I am less than articulate right now. Like my ultimate point is that there should be more build-up to big matches and this would be a good way to do that.
But I'm pretty new here compared to a lot of people, so that's a thing. If no one wants to do it, then no one wants to do it, and somehow I imagine the world will keep spinning.

Re: Friction Shows
My bigger matches have a lot of build up. Taylor vs akashi had a full year leading up to it.
The thing is that no one is going to provide storylines for you, its on you to build them.

Re: Friction Shows
I like the idea of a brand split in general, but victories as measurements to gain points do not work. It would take a moderator to grant points, or maybe activity in matches gives points. Of course, the last idea would not necessarily put the best role players on top, but the best RPGers were not always the most active ones in the past, the top 10 had several people that did not write often anymore.

Re: Friction Shows
Blue / Alex - I think what Lukas means about PPV matches “coming from nowhere†isnâ€t so much that there isnâ€t any build-up. I know you guys do a huge amount of high quality RP threads and the PPV matches definitely have weight behind them. I think it is more that it can feel like a lot of these threads are relatively closed, private affairs, I.e.
[quote="LtLukas":3ipe1t88] As it stands right now, I feel like every character has their own little vignettes and there really isn't a coherent whole. Like it is not a real company.

And so, if you havenâ€t been following other peopleâ€s private vignettes, the appearance of certain characters in PPV matches can maybe seem surprising. This is in no way a criticism of anyone, it is just a consequence of a forum where most people are off doing their own thing (which isnâ€t wrong, especially since there is no alternative) and most people wonâ€t read all the private threads.
Now, I wasnâ€t intending on acting as cheerleader for the idea of Shows, because if people donâ€t want to do it, then thatâ€s fine, nothing can run on coercion anyway. But hypothetically, if the top characters were all earning participation points for their Shows, then everybody would be able to see the highest-performing personalities and understand their contribution. It would be an objective way of proving that these characters were A-listers, and had a clear right to PPVs, titles etc. It would help B-List players understand what they needed to do.

I agree. However I think there is some uncertainty on the forums about the best way to go about building storylines, so that leads to reluctance and inactivity. Now, that doesnâ€t mean that the top players are duty-bound to accommodate everyone else, and you are well within your rights to Ayn Rand the problem if you want. I was just trying to suggest a mechanism that would help and incentivise people to build more storylines.

I agree. In the OP I suggested that points be awarded on completion of participating threads, like the Friction World Cup (with possibly a moderator judging quality on some cross-platform shows). I think I stated that the reason the top ten failed was because it equated winning with good RPâ€ing.
