Emily Nelson vs Tina "the Tempest" Layfield

The AFW crowd was tense as the arena was cleared for another match. Lately, they'd had a lot of their usual superstars, like Heather Sunderland, Cecilia Northman and Megumi Mutoh, featuring in a lot of hard-fought matches, and the members of the audience were eagerly waiting to see who would battle it out in the ring next.



The silence was broken by a short chorus of bagpipes, before "The Wicked Symphony" by Avantasia began to play. The crowd cheered as "the Scottish Knight" Emily Nelson, one of the many wrestlers who had moved in from WAS, strode down the ramp, looking as confident as ever. She was wearing her usual fuschia v-cut one piece with matching boots and gloves, and her pink-brown hair flowed over her shoulders. Giving a few slight nods to her cheering fans, Emily walked down to the ring and slid under the ropes, before hopping to her feet and staring down at the opposite entrance.

She felt the familiar itch of anticipation under her skin. This was only her fourth time in the AFW's main ring, after she had had nothing but losses. Her hands involuntarily clenched. If she wanted to stay in this league, she was going to have to get a win soon. But I'm going to get a win fair and square, she thought to herself. I won't cheat or fight dirtily, no matter how much my career might depend on it...

Tina would now make her entrance at the top of the aisle. She held up her arm as the spotlight shone upon her giving a friendly wink to the crowd. Then she started to head down the aisle regarding her opponent with some interest.

Tina knew she was a newcomer like her so if she aware of ehr record she showed no indication of it. She climbed up to ring, grabbed top rope, and slungshot her way in. She walked by Emily and climbed one fot he corners crossing her arms at crowd then leapt down and headed back to her opponent to size her up.

As Tina finished posing to the crowd and began to size her up, Emily did the same. Although Tina was slightly slimmer, she also had the ease of movement of someone speedier and stronger than she looked, and she seemed fairly confident about herself as well. Never taking her eyes off the other girl, Emily warily stepped forward.

"So you're my opponent, then?" She gave the girl a warm smile as she extended her hand. "Emily Nelson, please tae meet you're acquaintance."

Tina smiled at ehr then went to slap at her hand as if to knock it away but instead would clasp it strongly.

"Tina Tempest Layfield, ma'am! Nice to meetcha. You Irish?"

Getting her accent confused.

As Tina shook her hand and replied, she confirmed the initial impression Emily had gotten that she was a fellow westerner. Her accent confirmed it: she was an American, probably from somewhere in the midwest. This suited Emily fine-- it was nice to have some friendly banter with an opponent when the language barrier wasn't really much of an issue. To Emily's satisfaction, the girl was also a good sport, giving her hand a good, sportswomanlike shake before their match.

She raised an eyebrow at Tina's comment. "Irish? Nae, lass, dinna you know a Scots accent when you hear one?" She smiled a little. "And if ye please, 'Emily' will do just fine. No one calls me 'ma'am' in the ring, not even when I'm mopping th'floor with them."

Tina grinned, falling back on that casual Southwestern mein.

"Fair enough, 'Em. Let's have a good 'un."

Returns to her corner and stretches herself a bit as she waited for the bell to sound.

As Tina moved back to her corner, Emily did the same, watching her opponent carefully as she let the ref girl check her over for weapons. As the ref finally backed away, Emily tensed, waiting for the bell to ring.

The moment it did, Emily edged out, circling Tina cautiously and motioning for a lockup.

Tina also headed out and started to circle Emily with a cautious smile. When she saw the invitation to a lock up she nodded slightly and with an eager lunge went to lock up with the Scots girl.

Once she was able to lock up she would immediately thrust her body energetically against her, shoulder to shoulder, cheek to cheek and thigh to thigh as she tried to force her back to a corner.

"Ugh!" Emily gasped as Tina slammed against her aggressively, seizing the initiative and tying up with her aggressively. The Scotswoman felt the American girl's warm breath on her cheek as she was sent stumbling back slightly by her lunge, the quickness of Tina's attack already giving her an advantage.

"Tch..." Gritting her teeth, Emily pushed back, pressing a booted foot back against the mat and leaning forward, stopping the both of them as she gave Tina a little taste of her own strength. The two women pushed and twisted against each other, grappling like two Greco-Roman fighters, before Emily suddenly twisted to the side, aiming to reverse them both suddenly and push Tina back, hard, into the corner post.

Tina was trying so hard to push Emily into the corner that she did not pay attention to the momentum being turned around and was quickly off balance. Tina gave a grunt as Emily was able to reverse her into the corner.

"Unghh!!"
