The spring park match

Lu Zhou Yi took some time off of fighting and planning for the spring air. The grass was green finally after rain yesterday. The air was cool enough to warrant outdoor activity without risk of sweating easily or getting too cold. She missed the river air, not something she could get around Friction, not even in this park... but it was close. She still wore her red coveralls, as she always did. Clothing wasn't important, and she had plenty of these to wear often. Black hair was tied up into two tails as she often appeared when going into a ring match.

Something caught her magma eyes, a match between two gentlemen on a park table. They were playing a game of chess, and one of them seemed to be stressing over his next move. Glancing over the field, Yi could only smile. It was white's turn, and was losing early in the match. The queen had been lost, and the right side of the field threatened to be lost. The man didn't know how to effectively use his pieces. Yi stepped up beside the man and moved a knight in to strengthen white's right. The man was both surprised and appreciative.

It was now the other man's turn, who was thinking of putting his rook or even his bishop up to rival against the knight. He thought at it for a while, really thinking of what to do but soon a certain girl stepped up besides him, wearing a slightly torn orange jacket, black bra, black denim shorts, black knee stockings and simply boots, mumbling calmly. " Always sacrifice the tools before bringing the true offensive to your enemy. " She brought her hand past the man's shoulder and gently pushed her finger against one of the pawns at the right side, placing it so it looked like that small, single pawn was taunting the defenses of other man's right, especially the newly positioned knight.

The man seemed excited and almost fell for the trap, extending his hand to move in. Yi placed her hand on his shoulder to keep him from going through with the move. Instead, she moved a rook in to prepare to attack the pawn, it's location solidifying the beginning of the two sides working to destroy each other on the pawn.

Yi's side was still weakened from the man's earlier incompetence. "If an opponent is willing to sacrifice a small unit expect one of two things: they are a savage who likes to watch people die needlessly or they expect to gain by immensely." Her voice was low, barely above a whisper. "The later suggests the foe is cunning but still dependent upon you to make the wrong move."

Koumei merely watched her opponent's move calmly, noticing the man she was helping trying to move te pawn move forward but she brought her hand to the man's hand and pulled it back. " Never push too far.. Taunts are made from a distance. " She then focussed on the left side of the ' battlefield ' Bringing her knight up to the center of the left side, whispering out. " Make a base.. Corner your opponent.. Make them lose hope and surrender. "

"Our opponent is good," she spoke softly as Koumei continued, "And our defenses were initially weak. We must choose our battles carefully." The move sent a piece to further strengthen the king's side, rather than continuing to strengthen the Queen side that Koumei was now moving in on. There was a hole in Yi's defenses now on the Queen side that the woman didn't seem to account for.

Koumei narrowed her eyes on that one queen piece which had a weakened defence, it would be easy to strike with a rush but she wasn't after the Queen.. She moved another piece, yet another knight to place it besides the other one to make a two knighted wall, the man had no choice but accept it this time, he started to understand at Koumei was saying.

The man that had initially been playing white, and whom Yi had taken control from, again seemed to study the field to make his choices and move in for control of his troops. Yi was quicker with a response. No sooner did Koumei touch her piece to the pewter board than did Yi reach out to move her own piece. Yi's position was still weak, and ever weakening the Queen side to strengthen that of the King. A solid attack on the Queen side could ruin it, making access from behind the lines to the King that much easier.

Koumei however made no move to attack her, she was actually keeping the pressure going delaying her offense by pushing another piece to her knights, this time it was just a paw, taking it's side on the lower side of the knights, shaking her head when the man wanted to try something else. " In a battlefield.. One must capture the field in small areas. "

Yi said nothing, but moved in suddenly, taking the pawn which had been offered earlier with a pawn of her own. The pawn would be Koumei's first casualty and placed off the field. "Let them prepare in the west, attack in the east," she spoke confidently. Sure the man's defenses were weak initially, but Yi had effectively moved around white enough to open up from a defense into an offense.

The man Koumei was insisting immidiatly moved his hand to one of the pawns where Yi was striking near but Koumei stopped him, a sudden confident smile upon her lips as she simply continued, moving a rook behind the knights, the paw defending it's side, making it almost invincible for direct attacks.
