Sydney Giovanni vs. Zoey Andrews

Today was the day, the moment Zoey made her mark!

That had been what the newcomer to LAW was telling herself, as she finished changing into her attire and was doing some last minute stretches. She had gotten a taste of the LAW lifestyle outside the ring yes, but today would be her first in-ring contest since joining the league. Her opponent was a woman named Sydney Giovanni, and like many in LAW Zoey knew little about her. All she seemed to pick up on was that she was an older, experienced foe and Zoey took that as a sign that she wouldn't be easy.

No matter, she welcomed the challenge!

Zoey did some air jabs and even managed to spin a kick which accidently bang! crashed into some locker door as she looked at the dent with a bit of regret. However, a LAW trainer came to her and gave her the cue to go so she had to put that aside for now.

"Alright, showtime!" Zoey said to herself, moving to the gorilla position as the music of her theme sounded and the LAW newcomer made her way to the stage.

Zoey's theme: "Make My Dream A Reality" by GQ:

Zoey stood before a capacity crowd, her eyes wide as the visible excitement seemed to flow through her veins; she had performed before crowds before but never anything like this! Any nerves she had seemed to wash away under the spotlight as she waved with a bubbly energy to her and bounced a bit. Before long, she made her way down the ramp and while her reaction seemed to be reasonably muted being a new face around here, some fans seemed to feel her energy and the way she hi fived a few on both sides of the ramp seemed to endear a couple to her.

Zoey would slide under the bottom rope and rolled to her feet as she bounced up and raised a "V for victory" sign with her hands, climbing up to the corner of the ring to scan the crowd and try to hype them up a bit while she flipped backwards on her feet in an athletic display and seemed all set for battle! Zoey would move to the corner and waited for her foe to make her way to the ring.

This was the stage for the most defining match in her career, and regardless of the result, she would give it everything she had!

Sydney Giovanni observed from backstage as the newcomer, Zoey, made her energetic entrance to the cheers of the crowd. Ever since she had returned to AFW, the redhead had been purposely taking loss after loss. At this point, it wasn't only in her wrestling career, but her personal life as well. Her daughter, at every turn, refused to talk to her, even if Sydney made it impossible to avoid her. She even showed up to her match against her rival, Renee Steinhauser. She hadn't noticed it before, but her daughter was brutal in the ring—an absolute monster she created.
Needless to say, she wasn't all that pleased to see her daughter abusing her little brother, and ultimately finding out that the woman who she was facing had custody over her son. There was no doubt that this was her main concern now. Yona had proven that she could take care of herself, and frankly, she was upset that the brunette heel practically disowned and gave away her brother to a stranger, who also happens to be her enemy. Last night, Sydney had furiously gone off on her daughter; which, to an extent, was unexpected to both women.
She felt bad, since Yona had made a good point. She left her two children to fend for themselves, and her eldest daughter to carry a burden that should have belonged to her. Though she's working on the custody of her son, she first has to deal with another rookie tonight. She already got enough on her plate, without the higher ups on AFW threatening to sue her if she didn't put some more effort into her matches, but now, she had to once again step back into the ring to face another wrestler. She sighed, walking into the stadium, met with little fanfare.
Her popularity had died down a bit, due to her recent losses, and she certainly didn't think it felt great. She, at least, paid enough attention to know that people were losing hope in her, but she tried to mentally shrug it off. There was no point in making people have high expectations in her when she was just going to phone in her performance.
However, she had to put some effort to look genuine if she didn't want to get sued, so with a little bit of bravado, she puffed up her chest and got into the ring, to come face-to-face with her opponent. As a heel in her younger years, most expected her to immediately pounce on her opponent like a wild dog, but she was quite composed, extending a hand to Zoey. She seemed nice and innocent enough; something she was beginning to admire in her opponents after Kuroe.

Zoey seemed to be ever eager and almost shaking with anticipation as she waited for her foe to come. Ignorant of her history, or much about her being her being a bit more experienced, all she cared about was the challenge to come and soon enough the entrance theme of this Sydney placed and the older woman made her way to the stage.

Her foe certainly seemed to look ready, as her chest puffed out when she entered the ring and she walked up face to face with Zoey which only got the newcomer excited. Yet in spite of that, her instincts seemed to suggest something was off about her demeanor. What she had no idea, and probably was just getting ahead of herself over nothing, but it almost felt like theater than a genuine projection of her competitive spirit. Regardless she took the hand Syndey extended to shake it in kind as she showed she was a good sport and smiled to her opponent.

“Best of luck, hopefully no hard feelings one way or the other but I do aim to get a win today so I won’t hold back and don’t expect you to either~!” Zoey said with a fiery passion evident both in her tone and in that look behind those eyes of hers. A complete contrast to the phoning it in nature of Sydney not that Zoey realized that much herself yet.

The referee glanced at both competitors to make sure all was good before she called to the time keeper. “Ring the bell!”

DING DING DING!

With that the bell sounded as Zoey adopted a grappler stance with her knees slightly bent and arms out and just eyed her foe not the type to like to initiate the opening contact.

As the bell rang, Sydney adopted a more reserved approach. She circled Zoey cautiously, her chest puffed out in an almost theatrical display of confidence. Sydney had been around the wrestling scene long enough to recognize the difference between genuine determination and someone putting on a show. Despite Zoey's passionate words, Sydney remained calm, her experience guiding her movements.
When Zoey assumed a grappler stance, Sydney decided to take the initiative. She closed in with calculated steps, her eyes locked onto Zoey's. As the distance closed, Sydney suddenly feigned a lunge, testing Zoey's reflexes. It was a subtle move, a probing gesture to gauge the newcomer's true capabilities. Though she was done with wrestling, after facing Kuroe, she had a bit of an epiphany about how she saw her opponents. AFW seemed to have a tendency with pinning her against younger wrestlers, so, in a way, she saw her daughter in them.
After all, they were inexperienced, and could use someone to guide them—something she couldn't do with her daughter who had fallen down a dark road. She pondered the idea of challenging her daughter to a match; if that would make any strides in their relationship. Seemed like violence was the only thing that would reach her now—the brunette dodging her at every attempt she made to talk to her.
However, that'd have to wait. She had made some vocal decisions to get custody of her son back, and to knock some sense into Yona, but her daughter was very much in favor with the management of AFW. There was no way she'd get a match with her if she didn't show some improvements. Her popularity after her recent losses was dwindling, and people were losing faith in her. She didn't really even try, but now she actually had to make an effort if she wanted to sue Renee for her child, and gain enough respect to even get a single meeting with her daughter.
Needless to say, she was furious about the entire situation. She had matured enough to not let her anger consume her, but there was no doubt that she was losing a grip over her strength. She didn't know what to do, especially since her own mother had ditched her to be with some random man who was a part of AFW.
