Strategy: Carina practices a loose and relaxed fighting style, moving in smooth, fluid like motions that allow for easy transitions in between strikes and counters. Striking is her specialty, with an emphasis on combining moves from her kickboxing and capoeira background. Despite her small size, her kicks are devastatingly effective, mostly due to the fact that she makes use of wide arcs, long sweeps, and rotational kicks to gain power from momentum and repetition as opposed to muscle. Her fists are lightning fast, striking with laser precision and rapid speed. She lets out punches in short bursts, preferring to use her bareknuckle lethwei techniques to stun opponents long enough to deliver the more heavy-hitting kicks. Flashy capoeira flips and kicks put on a spectacle for the crowd, while also making her attacks more unpredictable if not riskier to perform. Near unstoppable while on her feet, Carina's ground game leaves much to be desired, and she can easily find herself outmaneuvered by even intermediate submissionists.

Personality: Laid back and easy going, Carina is a charming young fighter and dedicated martial artist. She remains loyal to her traditional tribal culture, while still interweaving it's ethos and beliefs with that of the westerns fighting styles she has picked up through her training. Honorable and stoic, Carina still maintains a casual demeanor with friends and close ones, while showing the utmost respect for elders and teachers. She treats everyone with kindness and dignity, and expects to be treated in a similar fashion.

She is angered by those who would use their martial arts skills to maliciously hurt others instead of engage in honorable combat, and as a result will show little restraint when paired up against such opponents. Her bravado can sometimes be her undoing however, especially when up against more versatile opponents.

History: Hailing from an Amazonian tribe but born in the big city of Manaus, Carina's life has always been filled with an interweaving of customs and cultures. Being so close to the Amazon and it's native inhabitants, Carina learned to become in touch with her native roots from a very early age. She didn't forget traditional Brazilian life as well however, quickly becoming fascinated with Capoeira after witnessing it at a festival for the first time

Her parents own a small BJJ dojo on the outskirts of town, and despite their best attempts at infusing the art in her, Carina never could catch on. She would always try to throw a jab, or sneak in a punch, and sometimes even a kick. Illegal maneuvers of course but seemingly instinct for the young girl. They clashed over the validity of capoeira as a martial art, but eventually agreed to let her learn from a local teacher. She fell in love with the artform, but slowly began looking for ways to fuse it's beautiful rhythm with a more practical fighting style.

Sensing that a striking sport was more her thing, her parents enrolled her in a kickboxing academy. Feeling much more in tune with the striking form, Carina caught on very quickly, eventually choosing to specialize in Lethwei - a much more brutal form of kickboxing practiced bareknuckle and with full contact rules. With limited opportunities to compete in Brazil, Carina set out to a muay thai/lethwei boarding school in Thailand, where she learned from the very best for two years as she continued to hone in her skills. Due to the limited rule set of the sport, Carina was able to add some flash to her attacks, combining lightning fast strikes with the over the top flips and spins.

The local fighters praised her unique fighting style, appreciating the cultural infusion she had brought to the sport. For a sport filled with blood, sweat, and tears, Carina was a flash of color brining life to it all. It wasn't long until news of a new martial arts league in Japan made it's way to the training grounds, and with the blessing of her teachers and dojo, she signed on to become one of their very first fighters. young, skilled, and full of potential, Carina was ready to add her spunk to the already colorful mix that was AFW.

Battle Cry: Despite not training in a martial art typically associated with it, Carina still yells out frequent Kiai shouts before each attack.

Moving to the beat: To keep a constant flow to her attacks, Carina often plays a capoeira beat in her mind that she can then maintain a tempo with.
