Personality: A complete juxtaposition to the maelstrom that is her offence, Kaya comes off as apathetic when outside of the ring. If she isn’t out dancing, then she’s lounging and tuning in to music. She’s usually all smiles, seemingly an entirely decent person overall. A complete tease, she likes to taunt and flirt whenever given the opportunity, mostly done to throw people off their game compared to her cool disposition. Kaya rarely takes anything seriously, inclined towards having a ball over unnecessarily worrying over things. While this can carry over into the ring and has fun at the other’s expense, she generally doesn’t care much. If she manages to pick up a win along the way, then its an added bonus.

It would be comical to say that she was raised as a child, least that is what Kaya thinks. Growing up with just a single mother and a dumbass brother, the oldest sibling made her own way in life. With how rough it was, Kaya grew to have a way with words. Which has gotten her way with a few kids and has brought her brother out of trouble with bullies. At a young age, her idea of justice was distorted. To everyone else, it was the strong protecting the weak. But there were many occasions where sticking your neck out for someone else gets you hurt. You come in with good intentions, and you end up getting the worst out of it while her peers walked away scot-free. As such, there was never a gain in helping others. You can’t pay the bills with “thanks and appreciations”. So Kaya stopped and minded her own business, letting her brother’s friend deal with his issues.

Life is fucking great when you just keep yourself to yourself.

Though that peace only lasted for a while before trouble started to find her. It was considered cowardly to turn her back on what is right, sticking up for people. With no other option, Kaya has to toughen up.

Fighting was a way for Kaya to survive school. Nobody thought she would be pretty good at it, slowly not finding the need to use catty tricks and weapons to help her. Soon, she was no longer the target of delinquent kids to torment, she was the tormenter. Running a little gang at high school, Kaya found a better use for her tongue. It turned out threats of violence and extortion were just as effective, if not more so than the actual thing. It was around that time where her mother would lose her job and without the means to help take care of two of her children. Kaya opted to break ties with her mother and dropped out of school once she finished. Her dumbass brother needed more help than she did, and it would have been a drag.

If there was anything that Kaya also had was good footwork. Never was someone with two left feet, she excelled in dancing in school, using such skills in the streets to support herself. It was at the time where Kaya caught the eye of a regional dance crew, admiring her natural talent and charm. She would actually find some success with the new group, travelling around Japan to perform. However, her urges made her fall back to her old habits of swindling locals and tourists for a quick buck. That had gotten her kicked out of the group and left alone in Osaka.

With the accumulated money she made, Kaya was able to secure an apartment. But funds were running low soon after, which caused her to find ways to make some easy cash. Underground fighting was unexpected but a nice welcome nonetheless. She had been fighting before, surely it would be a piece of cake, right?

Wrong. Very wrong.

The first brutal fight she has been in made her realised she was unaccustomed to other styles. She was “undisciplined”. “Sloppy” was another word linked to the newcomer. The second fight went the same, nearly beaten half to death. The third was slightly better than before but not a massive margin.

And then she found out about Capoeira.

For Kaya, it was the perfect match, love at first sight. It wasn’t so hard to replicate such movements that she practised through Youtube videos, using her fights as a way to fine-tune her style. While she was never formally trained, the way she soon moved made you think she was. It probably helped that she wasn’t limited by a teacher, because she found new and brutal moves that would have gotten her banned. Fights were easier, and she was making so much money doing something she loved. Things were profitable as she tore through the ranks of the underground league, no longer needing to shake down locals for cash. She then brought herself a motorcycle, which she still has to this day. Kaya went from lower card to a prizefighter. Not bad, if she does say so herself. Kaya would have stayed there and just keep doing what she does best. That is until she read the news.

Her brother was arrested.

Apparently, things didn’t go well for him, the dumbass deciding to crash into a bar where there was someone that could kick his ass. Idiot. There wasn’t much said about that incident, except some locals mentioning that the ass-kicker is a wrestler in AFW. Despite the fact they were starting up, the thought of someone beating up a gang intrigued Kaya. The Harpy would meet up with a scout at the bar, not needing any more reasons to sign the dotted line. With that Kaya sent the scout to the offices to file the paperwork…with the scout not knowing Kaya stolen his cash before disappearing into the crowd.

Fun Facts

-Her motorcycle does have a few…illegal parts that are don’t meet regulations, something which she had multiple run-ins for.

-An absolute freeloader. Despite having the money to pay, she’d instead front the bill to someone else.

-Surprisingly, Kaya is a fan of other forms of dancing, flamenco being one of them.

-Actually frowns upon smoking and drugs. That was at least one thing her mother instilled within her.
